Perfect Guide! This is exactly what I was looking for! (On forum topics and everything, I wasn't able to find it there.) I saw another TS server do this, so I knew there must have been a way to.
Thanks :) This is just one TeamSpeak tutorial in a set of them. If you are interested in checking some others out there is a playlist dedicated to them on my channel. Please like and subscribe :D
Thx for this tutorial it's really awesome and it helped me with many stuff but i dont have those options by Channel Groups\Voice\ and Channel Groups\Operator i think its because they have changed a lot since you made that tutorial and yes i have advenced otions ON
Excellent tutorial. Thank you for the advanced tips. I have tried it on my TS3 server. My problem is that i tried to assign permissions to 2 friends so they can see the channel and join it when i am not available. I assigned them to Channel Group Voice and only 1 of them was able to join the channel and/or move other players inside that. Any ideas what might be the problem?
Ntinsky Check their client permissions. If you have given both people the same abilities, either there is something different with one of the people, or there is something different about one of the people they tried to move.
TutsTeach Just checked. Both client permissions are the same. I filter them by checking "Show granted only" and i get no results for both. Right now they can both see the hidden channel and who is inside, but only one can join and/or move the other inside. Is there anything i can send you so you can check it and let me know what did i do wrong? I even tried all the steps from my laptop as a separate client and it worked fine
Ntinsky Drag the person who cannot enter into the channel and check they have the right channel group when they are in the channel. Other than that I have no idea off the top of my head what would cause that.
First of all I would like to thank you for your time and effort. I have been watching your videos and really appreciate your help. However I have a question that I could not find an answer for it so far, maybe I did not look good enough. I want to cover my and other users IP on my Teamspeak. I want ONLY Server Admins to be able to see other people IP's but NO ONE else to be able to see the IP numbers of other users. Is there such a protection in TS3? Thanking you in advance.
The permission you want is "b_client_remoteaddress_view" labelled under Client/Information "View Client Remote Address". By default only server admins can see this any way. You just tick it and then untick it so that it is an empty box, on every server group except serveradmin.
Thank you so much. By the way you a have an Explanatory skills! I don't know if I am using the right expressions but It is a skill that enables you to explain something and teach something so good! You have that skill, I can get it from your videos. Thank you again for your help, I have arranged all my server settings watching your videos and listening to your instructions.
It seems like admins are still able to change there own channel group in the channel by using the "Channel Groups of Client" Dialog. Is there any way to prevent this from happening. Thanks in advance.
Can I make it so my admins I have with the ignore channel pass thing cant join 1 or 2 specific channels? I dont want my admins joining a channel I have
How are you making "Random Guy" ie a user that Doesn't have any rights. When I go into bookmarks create a user and connect with that user I am automaticaly assigned Server Admin (top level).. If I use another computer with ts3 on it and login then I'm just a regular user with no rights.
+GaminCoBros Todd ™ Again, this is likely due to you giving member add permissions to people's server groups, or possibly too much add power to a channel group which lets the person give them self a higher admin server group, at which point they can do anything anywhere.
i did everything, but when i set the V on someone,he cant join channels cause says : failed_Permanent join channel..but if i give them that permission in "Channel Permission Panel" whoever with V can join every channel..wtf is going on?
I was looking I want to know how I can create only one channel that everyone can edit the description but only a certain channel I do not want everyone to be able to edit descriptions of all my channels I just want everyone to be able to edit this one certain channel no matter the group do you know how I would do this?
+TheKidd Ensure all your other channels have a needed power for description, then on the one channel you want everyone to modify the description set the ability to modify description and set the needed description modify power to -100 and set an actual power of modification to -100 so that anyone who enters that channel gets the ability to modify, they also get -100 power to be able to modify, but because all your other channels should have 0 or higher, all they can modify is that one channel they are in.
I have everything set like how you have explained in this video watched it 4 times now paused and matched all settings and still does not work. Ive given thumbs down as you ramble too much and it causes slight confusion and you bounce between settings to much, i am sorry but Im highly frustrated right now as there is no reason at all i should be having this issue having done everything in this video correctly.
*Dealing with an existing server is not the same as dealing with a fresh one as I show in this video.* Well this is one video in a whole set of videos I have made. I set up all the settings and demonstrate it working. If it is not working for you, I would start looking again. I had to experience many many failures when learning the permission system when TS3 came out. Stick with it, watch the video again once you are not frustrated and follow along. If anything is not working check your groups. I have a video on why admins cannot do things they are supposed to, relating to channel admin over-riding things and how to resolve that.
sorry went had a drink cooled off. I have it down to no one could see in and read descriptions, my issue is that with all the same settings and stuff the CA can not move people in nor assign groups, but can do so once they are out of the "safe room" I went over the channel my test had serv admin and CA , when trying to move a normal / guest (two test) it said insufficient client permissions (failed on i_channel_join_power) I removed SA power and it went to insufficient client permissions (failed on i_client_move_power) I then went and added move power to the channel group and still got the same message. Any suggestions?
so the instructions for your video still do not work after watching all of your other (relevant videos on permissions) might I add adjusting the permissions systems to match yours.
This permission system came to someone in a fever dream. It's so bad. Thanks for going through some examples of what those vague terms actually do.
I know this video is 4 years old, just wanted you to know it was completly helpful! So thanks a lot

Check the people's server groups. Something may be blocking one of the people's abilities.
TutsTeach Both are in Normal server group and in that group the 3 first Join permissions are checked like you showed in the video
Ntinsky Check their client permissions. If you have given both people the same abilities, either there is something different with one of the people, or there is something different about one of the people they tried to move.

+Andr3as07 If you have power in one channel via a server group, you can use that to alter channel groups.
I know that exactly the problem. I wan't that they can do this in every channel but the protected one.
On my permissions tab under "Delete" there is no "Access" category to change those values shown in the video. Any ideas?
Can I make it so my admins I have with the ignore channel pass thing cant join 1 or 2 specific channels? I dont want my admins joining a channel I have
Would like if u re do it consitering that its a brand new look

Help. I have a problem where everyone can edit all the channels and create channels anywhere
+GaminCoBros Todd ™ and anyone can put themself in to the channel groups
+GaminCoBros Todd ™ Likely you have given people channel modification powers on their server group, this would apply everywhere.
+GaminCoBros Todd ™ Again, this is likely due to you giving member add permissions to people's server groups, or possibly too much add power to a channel group which lets the person give them self a higher admin server group, at which point they can do anything anywhere.
Yeh I rewatched your video and fixed it.Thanks by the way for the video not many on youtube.
