What a song, I remember it well in 77 when I was 17, it was like nothing we heard before, boy was donna summer absolutely gorgeous too. RIP Donna, miss you very much
Diagnosed with lung cancer, Summer died on May 17, 2012, at her home in Naples, Florida. She was posthumously described as the "undisputed queen of the Seventies disco boom" who reached the status of "one of the world's leading female singers." Moroder described Summer's work with him on the song "I Feel Love" as "really the start of electronic dance" music. In 2013, Summer was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. R.I.P Donna.
Yes She 100% absolutely deserved it! Because it was long overdue for Her to be inducted into the Rock N Hall Of Fame! Long Live The Queen Of Disco Miss Donna Summer!!!!!
@@m1nogue listen to Autobahn, Radioactivity and Trans Europe Express" albums by Kraftwerk and you can hear where electronic techno pop comes from. That's just my opinion.
@greggfeldman2044 the problem with that is you called this song a "rip-off" when in reality its genre just hasnt been heard of much yet, especially in the US, which this song brought the whole concept of EDM to.
Donna was my life blood growing up. She was clever. She told us stuff through her talent that we were not quite ready for in the 70's. And yet, because of her absolute raw talent, we listened, my parents listened, my grandparents listened. Never forgot Donna x
Oh yes..what a song!!! I can picture myself dancing to this song decades ago..this song made you do unique things in that era...thank you beautiful Donna Summer and Rip..we loved ou then and we still do today...❤❤❤
I first heard this song on a Walkman. my uncle brought it back from Hong Kong, 79 or 80 (I was 16 or 17), none of the kids in my neighbourhood had ever seen a Walkman before, don't think you could even buy them yet where we lived. , Everyone took turns listening to this song (my uncle had put a Donna Summer tape in), how the music moved from one headphone to the other and back, minds blown.. revolutionary for the time.
i remember this record coming out when i was 16 and i still love it just as much today, absolute classic, sounds better than most of the music produced today and will still sound good in another 40 years
The Disco Generation's Bolero. Hypnotic, inexorable, imperious, soaring PERFECTION. A masterpiece from the embryonic days of synthesizers and sequencing, when extended mixes like this one were literally cut-and-pasted pieces of audio tape.
I agree totally with Dennis' comment. A bombshell of a track, with a bombshell of a woman and oh, what a voice!! One of my all time favourite tracks. Thanks for sharing!
THE song that started a music revolution that continues to this day, almost 40 years later. Endlessly covered and still NO ONE can do it better. Summer and Moroder...musical perfection.

As a kid, I remember sitting in the car waiting on my mom at the supermarket at the local strip mall. All of a sudden, a salesman at the Radio Shack opened the door, placed two extra large speaker systems outside and cranked this bad boy with all its bass glory into the world. Fantastic.
Ah the days when Radio shack sold cool stuff ! Miss them now I was in the ham radio club in high school and took electronics all the DIY stuff listed RS part numbers could walk in and get every piece to build a amplifier or a transmitter .
This is by far the best vocal and instrumental music production ever made by Donna Summers. That's my opinion. I probably listened to this track about 20 times back to back already. I feel as though, I can't come up with words to explain this track that will justify it. Truly Captivating and Amazing.
+robken0174 I agree GIORGIO MORODER is a Genius at his craft like Scarface soundtrack. PURE GENIUS. Donna Summers had the VOICE, SEX APPEAL to pull it off and Giorgio Moroder and Donna Summers knew its an instant hit.
The collaboration between Giorgio Moroder, and Donna Summer, which gave us this timeless classic have kept us afloat with music from such a turbulent time. I feel love went on to become the most listened to song since its inception by the Diva of Disco. Rivaling Whitney Houston for both range, and octaves Donna Summer held her own through out the decades giving audiences world wide that much needed boost to our imaginations when she sung her beautiful lyrics. The only thing that stood in the way of her ongoing success was cancer, but she never once flinched from the fans with her gorgeous smile, and golden voice. She will remain as the number one female singer of all time. RIP Donna Summer.
The first time I heard this track back in 1977 , it was mind numbing. It was as though I lost all sense of reality for a few moments. Donna Summer is a legend.
FUCK! This song is still as outstanding today as it was in 1979! It was groundbreaking then and still as groundbreaking! It hasn't aged. It ushered in an era of Disco, Techno, Acid House, Chicago House, Detroit House, British House, and on and on and on. It was the first song to break the barriers of what was once considered "Dance Music" and propelled it into the sonic atmosphere from groups like 808 State, New Order, Underworld, Prodigy, Aphex Twin and so many more ad nauseum, that remain to this day! Thank you, Georgio! Where would music be without you? (We would probably still be listening to Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams or Lawrence Welk).
Terry - yup. This came out right after I got ,y driver’s license se and how I never got ticketed when they played this long version driving 90 mph on the wide open freeway late at night, I’ll never know.🤷♀️

@@brianvernon9418 LOL. It gets very weird to listen to a mix of SINGLE SONG that goes on sometime past 12 minutes if there's repetitiveness of the same melodies enough times over.

My God, when I first heard this late at night on FM radio decades ago. FM radio was still new. The night DJ, played the long version, I guess he had to go. My reaction was WOW, this was an ear orgasm, and I found the way of the future of music of the ages. Giorgio Moroder and Donna Summer's vocals are apocalyptic. I've been chasing that music experience since. Very few songs or music have ever come close to the feelings of traveling to space late at night, in the darkness of your bedroom and letting your mind let go. Listening to music is a wonderful thing.
I agree that this music is altogether on a different and outlandish plane rushing you into outer space and to strange and exotic places unknown to you till then... A piece of music far ahead of its times, I suppose...
Her sexy voice , the tempo, the pure genius of Giorgio , the pulsating beat has had me hypnotized since it first hit the turntables. As intense today as it was then - just close your eyes and put on some good Headphones. Donna is my Disco Goddess !
Ооооо....Супер.С удовольствием переместился назад в прошлое в 1981 год, тогда впервые услышал эту популярную композицию. Приятно послушать в наушниках сочные мягкие низы, ласкающие слух.
O.K I know that there are a lot of people that don't like this kind of music...But I do with millions of other people...DONNA SUMMER WAS THE TRUE QUEEN OF DISCO!!!
Well if its not disco why did the haters of the music take time a day burning disco records in Wrigley Field...But they did't kill nothing Its still being played throughout the globe!
These techno statements don't make sense Techno is techno disco is disco and if the 70's music concept were to called techno why didn't they call it that then. Later came house music which is now being called electronica and or techno Kev Che
The first time I heard this song, it was turned up very loudly in my friend's apartment (he was a DJ) and the earth fell away below me. This was in the latter part of the 1970's, and then I started hearing it in the clubs, at twice the volume. The breakdown and flanging and delay lines were nothing I had ever heard before. Nobody else in the world could have sung it like her, and nobody else could have written it. How lucky is it that they both came together and made this perfect song?
Another tragic death at the hands of the muslims. Donna herself said she thought her lung cancer was caused by inhaling the toxic dust from 911. Yet Americans today want to embrace the muslims. Sad.
What a song, I remember it well in 77 when I was 17, it was like nothing we heard before, boy was donna summer absolutely gorgeous too.
