These FA-50 jets are actually much more than so-called 'lead-in' jet *Trainers* despite the often repeated confusion and sometimes disinformation unfortunately. the secret is that FA-50 is an upgrade version of F-16, under Mach 1.0 FA-50 gives even better aviation and performance. Korea is developing a smaller version of AESA radar and BVR missiles will be available for the air to air combat with an upgrade it was very good purchase!!

Saab is offering the c/d model and not the E model of the Gripen which will be obsolete soon. 2. the Golden Eagle is based on the F16 itself so familiarization is easy. 3. greater payload and range than the Gripen. 4. spares are abundant whenever we need it. 5. Buying the viper will definitely make uncle Sam happy which in turn will add more sweeteners to the deal like giving at a low price the embargoed AH-1z intended for Pakistan. if we buy those also it is possible they can give some of the units of the decommissioned AH-1W of USMC. we can build up our fleet of attack helos and MRF quickly with that. oh and they might also give some units of the older f16s in addition to the Vipers if we purchase it. so F-16 it is for me.

It'd be a draw between the Gripen and F-16. Both are indeed great planes, fit for the AFP's requirements. It's just up to High Command to make the decision, because I'd personally take both. Besides, they sure are a big step up from our FA-50's
Hindi inooffer ng Sweden ang E/F variants nila. Kaya mas maganda kung yung F16 Vipers nalang ang kunin ng PAF kesa yung C/D variants ng gripen. Kase magkahawig lang ng FA50 PH natin yung F16, kung baga parang kuya lang ng FA50 PH natin yung F16 kaya hindi sila magkakalayo sa technicalities.

Pero sa maintenance mura gripen kaysa f16 at sa per hour na paggamit nito (sa gasolina) nagkakahalaga ng nasa 378,000 thousand pesos ang gagastahing halaga sa fuel mas mahal sa gripen.

Longer flight range? Thats contrary to evaluation of other countries. Gripen C never won so far against F16v block70 in recent MRF acquisition of other countries. As for the other claim, PAF can validate those or not if they already did & know since they went to Thailand who operates both Jet.

Id rather choose F 50 than gripen and F 16....what would you do on the greatest MRF they said if with less armament that govt can buy and it's expensive too, but if we buy F50, we can have two squadron rather than 1 squadron of the expensive MRF, and if F50 will choose i think the remaining budget can buy an armament for the F50, di takutan ang laban kailangan may bala ka...
F16V because 1. Saab is offering the c/d model and not the E model of the Gripen which will be obsolete soon. 2. the Golden Eagle is based on the F16 itself so familiarization is easy. 3. greater payload and range than the Gripen. 4. spares are abundant whenever we need it. 5. Buying the viper will definitely make uncle Sam happy which in turn will add more sweeteners to the deal like giving at a low price the embargoed AH-1z intended for Pakistan. if we buy those also it is possible they can give some of the units of the decommissioned AH-1W of USMC. we can build up our fleet of attack helos and MRF quickly with that. oh and they might also give some units of the older f16s in addition to the Vipers if we purchase it. so F-16 it is for me.

@@ferocious1288 Yes but the last time PH had an MRF before the FA50 was in 2005 and they were 2nd generation aircrafts. The purpose of acquiring these FA50s is to prepare our pilots for 4th gen/5th gen MRFs. So yes, they still had to learn and they did it fast!
Our government must buy 24 additional FA-50 and 48 MRF 2 squadron F16 v block 70-72 and 2 squadron JAS 39 gripen D and E medyo matibay na defense capability pero much better kong 150 MRF kong may pundo rin lang para di tayo bulihin ng ating mga karatig bansa.

It'd be a draw between the Gripen and F-16. Both are indeed great planes, fit for the AFP's requirements. It's just up to High Command to make the decision, because I'd personally take both. Besides, they sure are a big step up from our FA-50's

Hindi inooffer ng Sweden ang E/F variants nila. Kaya mas maganda kung yung F16 Vipers nalang ang kunin ng PAF kesa yung C/D variants ng gripen. Kase magkahawig lang ng FA50 PH natin yung F16, kung baga parang kuya lang ng FA50 PH natin yung F16 kaya hindi sila magkakalayo sa technicalities.

Pero mas magandang unahin talaga ang F16 kahit anim lang muna..
