Today's teaching like all the others was so profound. It reminds me of the time I wrestled with God myself (I can use the word "wrestle" now cause I fully understand what it means in this context). I was only 16 years old. The admission list for uni came out, and I didn't see my name. For weeks, I kept checking the portal but kept receiving the rejection note. The friends whom I took the aptitude test with all saw their names. One day, I was so sad I laid on the floor crying and crying. I used the words of Jacob, and I told God that I was not going to get up from the floor or stop crying until he blessed me. At that age, I really didn't know what I was expecting to happen, but behold, that night, news reached my mom that my Jamb number was inputed wrongly that I indeed got the admission. The next morning, I checked the portal again, and Viola! There was my congratulations, staring me in the face.
I'm 29 now, and I can never forget this testimony. God is so merciful. I didn't do anything to deserve that love. I could have stayed one more year or even two years at home, frustrated with Jamb. But I gained admission straight from high school.
Thank you once again, Pastey. May you bask in the wisdom of God always.
I love your testimony. Years ago, my respiratory system suffered something I can't remember. I was to take drugs for the rest of my life to curb mucus every month, I refused to be the sick girl relying on drugs for catarrh. I don't remember praying but I spoke words that I will not be the sick girl. Today I'm free and happy

DAY 50
DID JACOB REALLY WRESTLE WITH AN ANGEL??
What exactly happened in Gen 32 v 22-31, was it really God that Jacob wrestled?
Jacob wrestled with God, it was an epiphany, just like Josh 5 v 15 ; there were many angel-like appearances in the Bible especially in the old testament.
2 Kings 19 v 35.... An angel slew 185,000 people in one night.
The angel touched the socket of Jacob's hip and the socket was out of joint. Jacob named the place Peniel meaning "I have seen God's face but I was not slain".
Hosea 12 v 2-4 says Jacob wept and sought favour from the angel.
Moses talked about Jacob's experience like it was a physical fight but Hosea referred to him praying and crying as a fight.
Heb 5 v 7 : This suggests that ;
1. Jacob wrestled with crying and begging; Importunity in prayer.
2. A picture of the travail of the Christ in prayer.

DAY 50. 100DOD
DID JACOB REALLY WRESTLE WITH AN ANGEL?
Genesis 32:24 explains what happened between Jacob and the angel, and so there is a way spiritual encounters work.
Remember, the angel touched his joint sockets, and it was dislocated and so that tells you it wasn't a literal wrestle but a testimony of an importunity in prayer i.e. urgent persistence/lack of modesty in asking for something.
And so the whole encounter was a testimony of mercy as Jacob himself declared after the encounter that his life was preserved.
Hosea 12:3-4 tells us that he wept and sought favor with the Lord, which means the wrestling was metaphorical.
Jacobs' experience can be compared with the experience of christ in Hebrews 5:7.

I realize that Jacob's encounter was not a confession of someone who put up a fair fight but a testimony of mercy.
