So i live in the Netherlands and my family has a boat company. So we have a giant harbor for our boats which is fish on a lot. there are SO MANY Round Goby’s in there that if you throw your bait in there for 5 seconds theres a large chance that 20 of those fish will already see it and go after it. They’ve basically taken over our harbor. There are still a bunch of other species like Perch, Pike, Zander, Asp, Bream, Roach, Rudd, Common Carp, Mirror Carp, Silver Bream, Loach, Ruffe, Bullhead, Eel, Marbled Goby, Ide and the two rarest species of our harbor are the Flounder (i have catched it 40 YEARS after the last catch in our harbor and when my father saw the Flounder. His eyes lit up i swear man he was shocked to see it after 40 years of not seeing one in our harbor.) and the Catfish (which are getting more common in our harbor as of recently). So the Goby’s have pretty much taken over our harbor but theres still a bunch of other species to find. Our harbor is basically the spot where i almost always fish. It never gets tiring to fish there in my opinion.
Important, after you buy the vispas, please go to the site and DISABLE renewal. Otherwise later you'd get a new bill for next year. Renewal is on by default and you have to manually opt-out.
Amsterdam has changed. It's not the city you remember from the 90's anymore. Better places to visit in the Netherlands. And way better places for fishing.
They are so aggressive that I think they might become problematic. They can also grow rather large, we catch some up to 20+cm here, so you'd need a large tank.
It takes about 5 seconds to catch one of those in my local canal. First seen in belgium ten years ago and now make up 15% of biomass in my local canal. Those pests are taking over everything. Problem is that while they offer plenty food for predatory fish, they also ravage their eggs/younglings. Basically they reduce canals to wastelands.
They can be annoying. BUT they taste delicious (they are best fried like anchovies) and they are the perfect fish to turn children into happy fishermen (they can easily catch 30+ fish per hour, no "I am bored, when do we catch fish, can we go home" when fishing for those). They are also great deadbait for e.g. larger perch.
Top stuff. I love a bit of micro fishing. Are tourist fishermen welcomed or frowned upon in Amsterdam? I see there have been campaigns to dissuade some English tourists recently.
I think fishing is fine its all the other activities people get up to they don't like! I found the dutch friendly one boater even offered to make me a coffee
😂 It’s not “English tourists” they are trying to dissuade,it’s people,ANY PEOPLE not behaving decently...stag parties, sports group tours etc etc. British tourists make up a huge part of Amsterdam’s tourist revenue, nobody wants to lose that money.
What a brilliant little video!
cheers!

Amsterdam is a beautiful city, which I visited a couple of times in the 90s. If I ever go again, I'll definitely bring some fishing gear with me.
well worth it!
Buy a daylicense for fishing. Fine is 120 euros if im correct

Bream have feelings too !
I'm intrigued by Burbot, that would be awesome
Great day out there buddy! 🔥🎣
thanks
Good video. Love you took your time on the license
Great video! Gobys are really cool looking fish. Than one inside a can though 😅 Im planning to go there this year too.
should be a good trip!
Invasive but still a cool little fish and as already said would be cool in an aquarium! Burbot would be a great target species 🎣👍
a few people in holland have them in tanks and seem to do well. I think germany would be the best bet for burbot so might have to plan a trip
as a german i can say that burbot (grundel in german)is everywhere here @@Chasingscalesspecieshunt
Those would be great in an aquarium, although possibly illegal in the uk?
Yep illegal to keep here far as I know
I'd love 1 of them in my UK fresh water tank. It's a shame their invasive. Great video mate. Tight lines.

Don’t provide a market for them!!!! We don’t want them in the UK

Damn didn't even know we had these in our canals.
last summer i saw hundreds of these swimming around in the rhyne but i havent spotted any yet this year
Haha never seen someone so happy after catching a goby ! Our canals in northern/eastern France are (over)loaded with those. Prey they don't invade UK.

Let me know if you ever visit Southern California.. I can put you on some species for sure here

As they are invasive, do you return or destroy them?
They are food for the zander.
lol "destroy them" chill man 😂
for gobys use worms, they like to see movement, it doesnt have to be big
Transparent goby or black faced blenny for the next one
I have BFG on my hit list for sure!
The Dutch name is 'Grondel'.
0:39 I J river? 😂
BURBOT!
its got to be done!
@@Chasingscalesspecieshunt It certainly has. Nobody will give you any peace of yoyu don't.
The green birb is not native to the netherlanda probably a pet let go of by its owner
