Music video by Simple Minds performing Alive And Kicking (2003 Digital Remaster). - เพลง
It happened last week. My mother was in the nursery home in the Netherlands, she is 90 years old and in the last days of her life. My wife and me were in the car, coming from Denmark on our way to the Netherlands, to make sure to be in time before she passed away. When we were half an hour on the road, we got a phone call from the nursery home, that my mother just passed away. We did not make it and were too late. I pulled the car aside on a parking lot, and just when we stopped, the Simple Minds - Alive and kicking was played on the Danish radio. Just on the exact moment that we heard that my mam passed away. My wife and and me hugged each other and bursted in tears. I miss you mam, R.I.P., be alive and kicking in heaven.
One thing I learned when my dad pass away is that he is always in my mind and my heart.....and one day we will see again
So sad
Much love ❤❤

This and “Sanctify yourself” are two of my favorites. “War Babies” off Neopolis is great too. I think I like em more than U2

one of the best things about 50 years old,is the fact that i lived my teenage years in the 80's that is priceless and i am grateful !!!

Me too...
Right there with you brother
Yep,Nothing Like It!!!The 80's
Apparently we're rowing the same boat!
Bands like "Simple Minds" were cutting edge in the 80's. Everything was changing to electronics and MTV. We look back now and realize just how special our decade was. It seems like a lifetime ago, but they were some of the best years of our lives.
What do you mean "changing from electronics to MTV"?
I meant to instead of from.
80s music is the best!! Sirius xm 80s on 8!!!
Exactly! I remember the first day MTV aired. I literally ran home from school just in time to see it air. Simple minds was and is a great band. I remember seeing The breakfast club for the first time....I thought, finally a movie that gets us!
Truly the best years of Our Lives!
I'm an 80's kid. Let me tell you, this and "Don't you forget about me" is the core of my soul. It rocked my world and it still does.
80's kid here too...We had the BEST music!!!
I'll be 60 years old this year. I've lived almost six decades and yet, the best music still came from the 80's. And there's not just one powerhouse group. There were dozens and dozens. Simple Minds may have been just one of many but they were never just Simple Minds. Their music rocked stadiums, night clubs, and many private parties in the Air Force dorms. We had the best music, the best clothes, and the biggest hair. Never been another decade like it. Never will be.
Well said.. 👍👍
Awesome it was . fuck yeah!
it's cos we didn't have woke, globalists trying to destroy us, happier time, better governance and
I listened to this when I was 16,1984 a group of us went to Croyd bay, camp site
I sooooooooooooooooooooooooo agree. The best! x
The 80s had the best music. There were so many different genres. Musicians actually played musical instruments, singers actually sang, no auto tune. No misogynistic rap crap. The music was danceable and fun. What happened??
Because we live in a dark (NWO)century…
❤80‘s❤
I agree with 90% of what you said, but if you think there wasn’t misogynist rap back then, you must not recall 2 Live Crew, for example. 😆
💯
Unfortunately, those beautiful days have gone 😢
@@akm2743I guess what they are saying is it wasn’t to the fore, the perverts and shallow thought were all in the closet, recognising the shame and not flaunting their attitudes shamelessly.

Shit, I haven't even been released yet and already celebrating!!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
I hope that your recovery has gone well for you.
All the best in Life to come!
Wow. I had heart surgery when I was a child! I had 3 holes in my heart. How cool!
Back then we all took this for granted because it was played so much on the radio.. but now you listen to it and realize there is not much coming out that can even think about competing with this.. and this dudes voice is just on another level from most male singers IMO.
Your opinion is spot on
Bout Time. Lol, as you kids like to say.
I'd be honored if some 80s fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal YT performances of SISTER CHRISTIAN by Night Ranger, IS THIS LOVE by Whitesnake, and RADIO GA-GA by Queen in tribute to the age of legendary power ballads. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Stay safe and keep on rocking in the '020s.
I feel bad for anyone not living during the 80’s.

I used to visit Phoenix and Scottsdale in the 80’s for vacation at my uncles huge house. He had a pool I would lay by all day swimming and jamming. I’m 47. What a cool song. Oh, and I lived in San Diego. When I went back people would freak on how dark my tan was. Haha!

We had slow in parties and even in night club… people dancing a slow, so beautiful.
My son who is new to the film business came home after a night out with his film crew pals and said, have you heard of a band called Simple Minds. Having grown up in the 80’s clearly I did.
He said he had been in the bands bass players flat in Glasgow for pre’s and didn’t know who he was. When I played him some tunes his jaw dropped..😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This song is pure magic.
1980: Me “The future will be much better."
2020: Me now “I wish to be in the ‘80s again.”
Dang, you got that right Mate. Anyway, lucky enough to live the late 70s and early 80s as teenager/young man.
Will never be another time like it ... for want of a time machine.
Fuck it- forward march. It is what it is. I'm suddenly craving antibiotics for dinner.
The way technology is going. You may just get your chance!?😉...
As we age into our late 40's, we begin to realize that we are aging, we do not have the same energy that we once had, we also begin to reflect on the past, and most of us long for a simpler time, a time when we had youthful energy, and the only thing that we had to fear was Russia and their nukes In our later years, most of us begin to reflect on life, and most of us would much rather return to the years of our youth. Every generation goes through this, every generation thinks that the music of their youth is the greatest music ever. Oh, how I would like to return to 1988 when all I had to worry about was English class. Now I am 49 years old, and I make $70,000 a year for driving a truck/lorry. My home is debt free, my only child is now 25 years old, life is much easier, but somehow, I long to return to the times when I was absolutely broke, but I had youthful energy, and above all I was YOUNG. Now, people who appear to be in there 30's call me sir.....probably because my beard is mostly grey. I do not feel almost 50 years old, but I am this old, and I am starting to look the part.......so fuckit, I will adapt.

Those were the years when you could enjoy singing, clapping and dancing as well. I lived in and enjoyed 80's to the fullest.
I love that they include the backing vocalist in the video - she absolutely slays in this song
Who is she?
My idea have this song in movie about my life maybe starring learndo DiCaprio as me I survived hit n run, attempt robbery, attempt carjacking, food positioning, attempt murder, survived car wreck when I was kid, survived in Colorado on rails of hope, met preacher who rode bike thousands of miles to preach when I was on streets, saved a lady from being chased by machete, saved a guy in my trailer cpr, saved my uncle who had seizure when I was kid, imbed cliff shocked ppl I was around grateful and thankful god is good like to see him as me in movie based on true events
The song would not be what is should be without her backing vocals. algorithyms do not understand these kind of things. I was born in 1972, graduateed in 1990, and I still find this one every weekend. Thumbs up

Excellent romantic ballad by Scottish New Wave Rock band Simple Minds, lead singer Jim Kerr. One of the Top Ten songs of 1985!
There was something special about being a kid then. That music fostered my imagination. When you hear an eighties ballad you can't help but think of magical places and dreams where only a luck dragon could reside.
Music today has no imagination or soul/funk/originality
Our minds and the world were borne of so many new ideas. New sounding music, playing in the sunlight, genuine happiness. That, well that is seemingly gone for most. It was a decade of magic for those lucky enough to come of age in it. Damn, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’m 52.

+JOHNNY .BOY I couldn't have said that better --- we were blessed and there was a special sound about great music that was made in the 80s that you can just know that is the decade it was pressed to the album. I was born in 65 and I used to sit during the 70s with my 45s and play them for hours. Remember the little plasic thing that you used to have to put into the middle of a 45 so that it could play on a 33 turntable? Well, if you want to have some fun, find one of those and show it to a kid of the younger generation today and ask if they can figure out what it is for (lol) --- Keep listening to the choice music, friends. Simple Minds - quietly one of the best bands of the 80's era. You just don't realize how big this band was until you start listening to all the hit songs from this time frame. I am on of their biggest fans - graduating HS is 1987 - I still have printed on my checks "ALIVE AND KICKING"........and will never change that!!!!
from '66 too? I am. I too write "alive & kickin'" here or there every now and then ;-) I agree, it's in hindsight that you realize how good much of the 80s music really was. Amazing. Nothing like it.
I graduated in 1987, too. But, I wasn't a fan. I was more into U2, Madonna The Cure, Susie and the Bianchi, Duran Duran. I heard this song a lot, but it didn't stick. I guess, I was more into pop. INXS. I loved them and The Violet Fams.

Back in 1985, when I was pregnant with our first child, I was in a bad car accident, then not a month later a chair collapsed under me at work. We were so worried that we lost the baby, but then he’d resume his rolling and kicking. Yay!!! We dedicated this song to our child!
…. I love this song!!!
How many times have I listened to this? I don't know... second chorus kicks in and it's ooo, o, aaa, o ... a-live!!
The woman's vocals are fantastic 👌👌
Robin Clark. She was also a vocalist on Bowie's "Young Americans" album.
And so are her earrings.

Just saw them live two weeks ago in Perth Western Australia. The first time they played here was way back in 1980! How lucky to be a young adult in the eighties 😁
Still sounding good in 2024.
This is a song that I remember from my teenage years. Now it’s giving me new hope as I’m going through a very rough time in my life and I’m struggling with the dark demons of depression. This is such a great, uplifting song. Thanks Jim Kerr and Simple Minds!
I wish you will have enough power to keep your head up high. Maybe "let there be love" from Simple Minds will brighten your days and nights.
I'm going through serious stress anxiety and depression myself and I'm up and down like a hookers knickers but we just have to keep strong and take stuff day by day as 2019/20/21/22 are four of the darkest years of my life and many others are saying the same!!!
I hope you get rid of depression. I had serious problem with depression and went to a psychologist who prescribed a medication. I'd be pretty bad off without it. Also, exercise and sun is said to be of good help in moderate depression. Best wishes, Norman!

Brings a hopeful feel in these troubling days..leave it to the Scots!
This is the type of song that brings everything back to life for me, a real song written by a talented band. Music like this does not exist anymore :(
no, there is some great music being written right now, but it´s not mainstream music, it is the indie underground artist, but most people dont appreciate them or even care, and thats the truth
Albert Bevia yes I have to agree with you. Kids nowadays listen to complete and utter rubbish. Music industry is gone. I personally think once all the legends have gone music will become history.
You can say that again!
