Hi Eerik. Interesting project. I watched the build video as well. I realize this is all an experiment from a few years ago. From the chest mounted camera it appears that the kayak is a bit twitchy and lacks a bit in secondary stability. Much of that is likely due to the high CG, rounded hull bottom and the flared sides. Some of that could be improved by lowering the CG. Might be interesting to see what happens if you add weight and it sits lower in the water. What will give you a better sense of control is having some connection with your thighs/knees on the underside of the deck. Perhaps some foot braces as well as foam blocks velcroed in the right place might help connect you better to the kayak and give you more control. Additionally always keep a paddle blade in the water as this will aid in damping the rolling movement.
Hi Mark, Similar ORU kayak weighs 28 pounds. Mine was not more than that. I have been out with waves of about 30cm or 1foot. But I didn't feel comfortable with this...
Looks like it's has a pronounced v-shaped bottom, hence not much initial stability, but the secondary stability should be very nice on this boat :)... There need to be pedals and thigh braces to firmly attach to and control the boat. Please tell, did you add it?
Hi Ed, I plan to post a video about how I made the kayak, and I hope to post it within this year. The idea and plans are intellectual property of Oru Kayak, so I will not share the plans publicly. Nobody forbids you to build one for yourself however. If you google for the plans, somethings comes up, one good source is interestingly patent description. These may needed to be stretched or adjusted somewhat, but the idea is there. But if I am contacted privately, we can see how I can help you. Cheers
@@eerikmee2050 what you design and make if it's not exact, isn't their design, that's yours. You can sell your own version, as long as it's not a replica and you don't try to sell it under their name who cares?
Hi Robert, It is a thin line about selling a design very close to somebody else's, and in particular case I am not into making money, but contact me on facebook and we see how I can help you on your journey to make your kayak.

It’s not a direct copy, there are other people doing it, and now you have a stated policy via this post that it’s not about money, so here is your big chance to make that whole bit legal, by posing your design, for free, because it’s not about the money. ;) Such altruism should be recognized.

Good job friend enjoy the freedoms
Awesome👍👍👍
Great job Eerik !
It would be awesome if you provided more details on how you built it etc. :)
I try to add some information in the nearest future :)

Brilliant
Looks very light...how many kg?
Perhaps not strong enough for any serious waves?

Hi Leonid,
No, I didn't install pedals and thigh braces.
@@eerikmee2050 If you have an attitude, please try. Being fully attached with feet and thighs/knees to kayak makes the whole difference.
Hi that's really good work. Could you share the plans ?

Could you please provide the plan ?
Next step....foldable outriggers...
As much of a tutorial as possible would be awesome...
its not a real test if you dont use propper paddles
It is also not a real boat. Maybe it still counts??
