Thanks so much for posting this. I was at this game! My father took my friend and I for my 15th birthday. It was my first USFL game and I was a fan of the Generals.
I love how at the end when Washington missed the field goal, some of the guys in the New Jersey team went over and picked up one of guys in the Washington side that was clearly upset. That’s respect.
I been watching a lot of the old HBO show 1st and 10 they played highlights from the usfl games as there own game action decided to look up i was just born in 83 so this is kinda cool to see some games and the commercials good upload
I watched and remember this game well and distinctly remember not doing an 8th grade English composition that my dad was harranguing me about! Couldn't focus on anything cept the USFL game...oh Sundays before school😂 with a new league...dad would continue to harangue me for a few more yrs 😂

I remember a Baltimore Car dealer "Mr. Nobody" wanted to buy the Federals and move them to Baltimore. I watched them for 2 years, switched to the Baltimore Stars for the last season, since they still played close to home in College Park in 1985.
Likely a good thing Chuck Fairbanks left Colorado. His tenure there was a disaster(to say the least) and who knows how much further they would have fallen if he had stayed. Colorado hired Bill McCartney to replace him and after a terrible 1st year CU changed to the wishbone and began a rise that eventually led to a national title.
In about '76 I recall going to visit my dad in New Orleans (that would make me about 10 years old at the time) and him telling me about Saints training camp, Hank Stram was the coach and Archie Manning was hurt that year and Joe Gilliam and Bobby Scott and Bobby Douglass were in a 3 way fight for starting quarterback -- I never knew that 2 of the 3 had faced off in this game
That's great knowledge, Joe Gilliam sure is impressive to say the least. He isn't the only one who partied ? His personal life was exploited in the worst way. That exposure definitely created a negative dramatic effect for his career. He was "over it" by the time of his tenure in pro football u.s.f.l. comeback was doomed from the start. If he could have wrote his script? He possibly could have been a Cleveland Brown and kicked some Steeler ass! Brian Sipe the Generals q.b. was a good one who should have won a whole lot more games. He was balanced and controlled. His balls had nice distance. Dan Pastorini would've been outstanding in this league had he not ended a great career with a unrecoverable injury. Raiders would've won with him and super bowl championships. No disrespect to Plunkett. I enjoyed "Trumps " league. Birmingham stallions v. Denver Gold is my fondest u.s.f.l. memory. Houston Gamblers with a very impressive Jim Kelly had to be one of the best statistical team effort ever. The run and shoot was exciting. Denver Gold and Doug Spedding, Craig Morton, half time shows like "Alabama " performing. The smell of the grass and the warmth of the spring weather. Miss this league...

Yes JSJ was one of my favorite QBs Steelers than he was growing up in NJ still love his release never met him and I played with NJ in 84 #85

i love the USFL games..the Federals and Generals ,l like Herschel Walker and and Joe Gilliam.those were good games.compare to the NFL games.
