This is probably my favorite park in all of Orlando, theme parks included. The people who leave bad reviews aren't mad at Volcano Bay, they're mad at the people that got to the park before them 😂
I went on a partially rainy day in February, had pretty much all the rides to ourselves and after an a couple it cleared up and was still empty because it was 2 hours away from closure.We got to experience all the rides there and it was incredible!
@Silvia Hoard I can’t really say, when I went it was an amazing time and enjoyed the weather there in February. But I don’t have enough experience to say it’s the best month to visit. I bet you can find some other peoples opinions on when to visit but that’s just how our experience was like in February

I forgot, here's a personal tip from me - pick up a pair of those water slip-on shoes, you can wear them on all the rides, which is great. Trust me, after spending several days at all the parks, you're going to feel it, and walking barefoot or even in flip flops is not the best idea as the park is quite large. Also, great informative and clean video!!
Water shoes just can’t be worn of the body slides, but they do have little free cubbies to put them in on rides where you can’t wear them besides that shoes are a great option
Water shoes are a great idea . The concrete with the course sand was so difficult to walk on barefoot - esp that under my feet are the most sensitive !!
Sorry for taking so long to comment, if you want to avoid high wait times, I recommend trying to come early in the morning. One of the times I went I came at around 3:00 pm and the wait times we are high as 140 minutes. This is common on the weekends and summer. When I went early in the morning most of the wait times were around 15 minutes. Honestly, it’s the matter of waking up early, and leaving early, but if you do that you should be able to ride a lot more slides.
This is probably my favorite water park I have ever been too, super immersive and the tap bracelets are nice because you don’t have to wait in line for so long
Being a northerner, this park is incredible. We go in early February, so at home it is snowy and cold. It is best to go right when you arrive in Florida, because being able to be outside and swim the day after having to shovel your driveway and being freezing kind of highlights the experience. I love this park, and I absolutely cannot wait to go there this winter :D!
@@venkatd5871 The water is heated to 80 degrees in all the pools. And NO I would NOT go during Christmas week. That is the busiest time of the entire year for both Disney and Universal. Ironically, one of the best weeks to go is the FIRST week of December because no one takes a vacation that week AND everything is fully decorated up for Christmas. If you can swing it, that is the time to go for a major Orlando vacation!
Jed's in Pampanga, PH is better. It's actually bearable unlike Florida in summer, even though it's in the tropics, paradoxically. And Florida in winter is unpredictable (it can be 50's or 60's) In the Philippines you can actually pick up hot chicks pretty easily. To be able to do that in Florida you have to be a wealthy body builder or a drug dealer. Philippines is vastly superior to Florida for vacations any day.
I find it hard to believe that volcano bay gets such poor reviews. We went to Florida September 2018 and found that typhoon lagoon and blizzard beach were looking a little tiered compared to volcano bay. Don’t get me wrong the Disney water parks were still fun but if I could only go to one water park out of the 3 I’d go with volcano bay!
@@TheFrugalBrit it's probably because of those fans who are still angry that the previous water park was torn down to to make room for Volcano Bay. So they flood websites with negative reviews even though some probably haven't even gone there... PS: went to Universal last January and because of unusually cold weather, Volcano Bay was closed. I have never seen so many angry kids in my life! There were signs all over Cabana Bay saying the water park was still closed because of the freezing weather.
The park was very bad the first 1-3 months, 5 hour lines, packed with people. I went 6 months after it opened and most the problems were fixed that I heard of. Most of the review were from the first months.
I went around spring break for me (2018) and rode everything and had a blast with all my friends, wait times were decent and there was still a lot to do. Food was a 7.5/10 and that’s really generous from a particular eater lol. The bad reviews are just mad they didn’t get their way. Definitely one of the best water parks and I lived down the street from adventure island and been to aquatica and wet n wild.
I went last summer and I highly recommend this for anyone who likes water parks! There are thrill rides like drop slides with a 4 and 6 foot drop slides, a rapid river, a slide that shoots you down through the volcano and much more! There is also a great kids section and a wide selection of family friendly slides! My personal favorite is the Iku Moana. The Iku Moana is a wall slide. Me and family personally thought the talking tiki in the volcano was hilarious! We came here for two days that were not in a row and it remembered are names! (Note: a real person works the talking tiki!) It was a rainy day both times we went but luckily no lighting or thunder so the park remained open. Another thing is beware of the punga racers slide!!! It may not look dangerous but a little girl almost got ran over by a grown woman on the racer slide. The thing that happened is there was no lifeguard at the top and she was stupid enough to go when the light was still RED! Hint hint woman! RED MEANS STOP!!! I’m so mad at her cause I’m the little girl who almost got crushed by a frickin grown woman!!!! So back to my rating on the park! Overall I rate the restaurants a 4.5 out of 5! So overall Volcano Bay gets a 5 out of 5 from me!
My favorite water park. I’m there at least once a week. Your tips are spot on. I always come early and pick a lounge by the not so lazy river. It’s still a secret spot after all this time and doesn’t fill up until later on. Not like the front of the park. Fabulous theming. Better than usual park food. Tapu Tapu a great idea. My happy place. To me, the biggest problem with the Tapu Tapu system is they don't allow to you reserve more than one at a time. So example, if the Volcano drop slide has a 3 hr wait, if you lock it in on the Tapu Tapu, you have to wait all 3 hours before you can ride anything else (it won't let you lock in one that is only a 1 hr wait, to get to ride that while also waiting on the 3 hour wait of the drop slide on a really busy day). They could improve this for the full guest experience.
@@TheFrugalBrit Queueing algorithms could easily solve this issue, it's probably the longest and most researched areas of computer science, with complex theory going back to the 1960's. As it is, the TapuTapu doesn't give any advantage, and actually makes it WORSE. The wait times are consistently 80 minutes or more. I don't think I've waited more than 15 minutes in any line at any other water park EVER.
Yeah but you literally can't be in two lines at once anywhere else. Ever been to Disney? You wanna ride Thunder Mt? Then you'll have to wait at that line for 2 hr +. You can't leave that ride and go into another ride and hold your spot in Thunder Mt. That's how all lines work.
@@GingerTurquoise I've been to both Disney and Universal. Prefer Universal. The main issue with it is with the really long ones. This is a water park. How many water parks do you know with 4 hr waits for one slide? Think of the volcano or the blue slide... those can get up to 4 hrs long. That's half a day wasted to wait on one ride. They could make exceptions on those to allow you to clock in on a 2nd ride that's only at an hour or less while you are waiting on that 4 hr extreme wait. There's literally no reason you should be forced out of a 4 hrs wait to ride others that aren't close to that long. Only on the big ones like that though.. mainly the volcano, the blue slide, and the water coaster. And technically, before Bob Paycheck got involved, Disney's FastPass would allow you to set specific times for 3 different rides...and you could ride others while waiting on those times. Your time comes, you walk up, scan the wristband, and get in the Expess Line. Once done, you go ride rides more while you again wait on the next FP time to hit. So essentially, in 2 lines at one time.
Thanks this was Very helpful. My #1 tip would be to come already in your swim suit. Saves you time and having to change in a potentially already damp change roo.
I went in September of 2019 and I absolutely loved it! It wasn't crazy busy so the wait times weren't that long luckily. Besides, I think I spent more time in the lazy/crazy rivers compared to anywhere else. One thing I loved was the fact that you could tie your credit/debit card to your Tapu Tapu, so that you literally didn't need anything you'd be nervous about being lost with you. Just set up your Tapu, lock everything in your locker and you're set all day long! I think my only wish was that you'd be able to lock in a virtual queue for maybe three attractions at the same time as opposed to just one. That way I think people would be a bit happier about the whole system as you'd basically be waiting for other rides while standing in line for another. We stayed at Cabana Bay and honestly I feel like it was totally worth it. You can just walk to Volcano Bay, so if you have a three park (park-to-park) ticket you can spend a few hours at Volcano Bay and then go to the other parks later in the same day, or vice versa. Plus you can easily head back to your room to relax for a bit if you feel like it too. And since you get early entrance you can claim a good spot, and because the park is right there you don't have to wake up crazy early either to take advantage of that. Also, if you get the Volcano Bay-view rooms... the views are absolutely incredible from your room! Personally I'd 100% recommend going to Volcano Bay, maybe it's not as good during the crazy busy peak times, but if you go when it's a bit slower it's an amazing experience all around!
TheRealSweedie I agree, but i feel like the reason they let you have multiple wait times on your tapu tapu is because if everyone had it then all the lines would be 3 times as long as they would regularly be, so if somebody only wanted to ride 1 slide the wait time would be outrageously long for just 1 slide. I hope that makes sense i don’t know why else.
@@adrixn-838 you're probably right. But I feel like they could at least let you have two. So you can tap in on a ride with a really long wait, then go and ride something else while waiting. But they probably tested different scenarios and decided upon the one they found to be most efficient/fair.
Some advice: When you enter the park, don't get a locker. Go STRAIGHT to krakatou and get those return times (you'll still be waiting 80-175) and then go get a locker. It's weird but it saves plenty of waiting, and you can go and do other rides that are still ride now and have a spot on krakatou, if you spent like 20 min changing then you get an even shorter wait. i swear by this because nobody wants to wait 500 min

Not sure why you did not mention this... But the pathways get SUPER hot (and the wood bridges). What's funny is half the people hated the hot ground while others seemed to not be affected by it. They have a system of misters that are supposed to spray the ground to keep it cool while you walk, but less that 25% actually gets sprayed. It was my only complaint. Very uncomfortable (for me) walking around between attractions.
Interesting point about those who arrive early vs those who do not and how that can shape the experience of the park. Did not think about and was confused as to why the park had so many bad reviews. I had a great time but I arrived prior to opening and stayed all day. Thanks for the Monday tip will try that when I go back.
I’ve lived in Florida all my life and LOVE volcano bay! It’s such a fun place and the rides are all so fun! My favorite “ride” is the (?)rushing river, it’s like a lazy river but it’s a lot quicker and there’s this big wave maker. I’m pretty sure the wave maker is weaker now then it used to be but when I used to go it was super fun, me and my brother would try to get caught in the wave which would usually end with us swallowing a lot of water, lol. I could go on and on about this place I just love it! Only complaint is the wrist watch things, I don’t know if my family just got unlucky but ours have malfunctioned on the few times we went, like if we’ve been there 7 times it’d probably be around 3-4 times they malfunctioned, it would only take a little time to get fixed and we could immediately get back to having fun though.
You guys are forgetting that not all rides are part of the Tapu Tapu. There are about 4 or 5 rides that are traditional queue lines. So if you want to stand in a line you can. I love being able to take an early lunch, do the wave pool or the rivers etc and then wait in 15 min line. Can't do that at Disney water parks
@@TheFrugalBrit Honestly, it was nice having a day where people weren't buying things with those wristbands. There are frequently issues with using them as payment, especially if you make multiple payments. Peoples payments get declined, only for them to get to their lockers and find out their bank is trying to contact them.
Best water park I have ever been to hands down. The amount of slides are unheard of, the layout easy to follow, the food is beyond just theme park food. Plus the rollercoaster, amazing. So you have to take a bus. You have to take a boat or Monorail to MK. The tap bands need to be instituted everywhere, best idea ever. If you go on July 4th weekend, yes it will be packed. Buy a cabana or preferred seating.
I went twice in 2021. This is my all time favorite park!! I can go to this park everyday and won’t be bored!!! The only negative I have is the prices of the cabanas. Other than that this park is a 10 to me.
So people go to VB on a busy day, arrive late and then complain because its busy and give it a 1-star review. Makes perfect sense! This is why I don't read reviews.
The last time I went on vacation that was in 2019 in august- September ( that’s when summer vacation starts in my country )and we drove to Orlando and rented a house, we went with 16 people to all the universal parks and we took a 3 park 2 day ticket. Everybody loved volcano bay ! That we actually were planning to go again in 2020 to Orlando just for volcano bay and to explore Orlando a lot more and go on a family cruise ! I really don’t get how they get bad reviews on trip advisor, the staff was friendly, the food was good and not that expensive like Disney world.
Wow, I thought it was AWESOME! But I went during Covid when it was pretty empty and left from the on site Surfside hotel. AND it was free! It was supposed to be $29 added to existing Universal tickets, but they closed early and gave me a full refund. Anyway, the water ride roller coaster Krakatoa is the best ride of the park and the one you want to use the Tapu Tapu for. Loved the lazy and not so lazy rivers. You can also purchase booze at the bars. I can understand why it would be a drag If it was really crowded. I would look at the crowd prediction sites and go when it is not too crowded, like weekdays.
This is one of the main problems I see with theme parks. They really need to cap how many people can enter the park; prioritising advanced bookings, and door-sales if there's availability only. If experiences were more consistent, I'd expect they would have better reviews and could increase ticket prices considerably (to make up for less # of tickets sold).

I'd deffo be a 1 star reviewer. Such a stressful day out. So many queues before you're even in the place, foot-blisteringly hot paths, not being able to use your tapu tapu because there's 'no queue' on the ride board, then getting to the ride and finding out there's now a queue then having to go back to the board again - repeatedly. One ride had an 8 hour queue too. How does that even happen?! Imagine using your tapu tapu on that one and not being able to go on any other rides for the whole day.

Another great review 👍. Slick , great editing and you covered all the essentials . There is only one top tip and you mentioned it in your review . Get there EARLY . If you do this you can hit all the top rides before the park gets busy . We managed todo all the thrill rides in the first two hours and then just used tapu throughout the day . Compared to Aquatica ( which I must say ) I am a fan 😃 , Volcano bay is a bit more hectic . At peak times including Easter they stop admission at 10,000 guests . As you said go midweek and that applies to all parks and you will have a fab time 😜
We have to go in August(as we work in a school). Wasn’t keen on Volcano Bay last time we visited. Sun loungers are cramped together, like you said its hard to navigate, I can say I only walked by the aqua coaster, missed so much of the park. Difficult to find the tapu tapu stations. We are going to try it again when we go next August x
Hi, i've noticed in a few videos when mentioning volcano bay you have only ever listed cabana bay as having a special entrance as such. Aventura actually also has a direct gate which opens just outside volcano bay.

it is rated not that good on tripadvisor because the park had a pretty rough start. the reviews also made me skeptical to visit it at first, but now I gotta admit it was totally worth visiting I personally love the park, it might be expensive but it was my best water park experience I ever had
Great park you defo need to get there just before or on opening as then able to hit all rides with non to low wait times , i managed all rides with ease this way.Some friends of mine got there around 11.30am and said they barely got on anything as park was rammed.Agree cheaky with locker prices but overall really enjoyed it and will go again.Nice review great channel 👍🇱🇷😎

Yeah I was surprised why it did so poorly review wise. I think its the ‘arriving midday’ snowball effect which causes a lot of disappointment.

Yeah I know what you mean, but there would also be issues if people are in multiple queues at once as it would significantly increase wait times.

As it is, the TapuTapu doesn't give any advantage, and actually makes it WORSE. The wait times are consistently 80 minutes or more. I don't think I've waited more than 15 minutes in any line at any other water park EVER.
Yeah but you literally can't be in two lines at once anywhere else. Ever been to Disney? You wanna ride Thunder Mt? Then you'll have to wait at that line for 2 hr +. You can't leave that ride and go into another ride and hold your spot in Thunder Mt. That's how all lines work.
@@GingerTurquoise I've been to both Disney and Universal. Prefer Universal. The main issue with it is with the really long ones. This is a water park. How many water parks do you know with 4 hr waits for one slide? Think of the volcano or the blue slide... those can get up to 4 hrs long. That's half a day wasted to wait on one ride. They could make exceptions on those to allow you to clock in on a 2nd ride that's only at an hour or less while you are waiting on that 4 hr extreme wait. There's literally no reason you should be forced out of a 4 hrs wait to ride others that aren't close to that long. Only on the big ones like that though.. mainly the volcano, the blue slide, and the water coaster.
And technically, before Bob Paycheck got involved, Disney's FastPass would allow you to set specific times for 3 different rides...and you could ride others while waiting on those times. Your time comes, you walk up, scan the wristband, and get in the Expess Line. Once done, you go ride rides more while you again wait on the next FP time to hit. So essentially, in 2 lines at one time.
I just went there on my vacation and this is the best waterpark in orlando even better than disney ! so much fun and rides to do.

I normally hate water parks, but I LOVE Volcano Bay! Such a gorgeous park and I could spend hours in the Fearless River!

I went in September of 2019 and I absolutely loved it! It wasn't crazy busy so the wait times weren't that long luckily. Besides, I think I spent more time in the lazy/crazy rivers compared to anywhere else. One thing I loved was the fact that you could tie your credit/debit card to your Tapu Tapu, so that you literally didn't need anything you'd be nervous about being lost with you. Just set up your Tapu, lock everything in your locker and you're set all day long! I think my only wish was that you'd be able to lock in a virtual queue for maybe three attractions at the same time as opposed to just one. That way I think people would be a bit happier about the whole system as you'd basically be waiting for other rides while standing in line for another.
We stayed at Cabana Bay and honestly I feel like it was totally worth it. You can just walk to Volcano Bay, so if you have a three park (park-to-park) ticket you can spend a few hours at Volcano Bay and then go to the other parks later in the same day, or vice versa. Plus you can easily head back to your room to relax for a bit if you feel like it too. And since you get early entrance you can claim a good spot, and because the park is right there you don't have to wake up crazy early either to take advantage of that. Also, if you get the Volcano Bay-view rooms... the views are absolutely incredible from your room!
Personally I'd 100% recommend going to Volcano Bay, maybe it's not as good during the crazy busy peak times, but if you go when it's a bit slower it's an amazing experience all around!

TheRealSweedie I agree, but i feel like the reason they let you have multiple wait times on your tapu tapu is because if everyone had it then all the lines would be 3 times as long as they would regularly be, so if somebody only wanted to ride 1 slide the wait time would be outrageously long for just 1 slide. I hope that makes sense i don’t know why else.
@@adrixn-838 you're probably right. But I feel like they could at least let you have two. So you can tap in on a ride with a really long wait, then go and ride something else while waiting. But they probably tested different scenarios and decided upon the one they found to be most efficient/fair.

I live in Orlando and drive by Volcano Bay every day going to work. I have never been in the park!
Some advice: When you enter the park, don't get a locker. Go STRAIGHT to krakatou and get those return times (you'll still be waiting 80-175) and then go get a locker. It's weird but it saves plenty of waiting, and you can go and do other rides that are still ride now and have a spot on krakatou, if you spent like 20 min changing then you get an even shorter wait. i swear by this because nobody wants to wait 500 min

Not sure why you did not mention this... But the pathways get SUPER hot (and the wood bridges). What's funny is half the people hated the hot ground while others seemed to not be affected by it. They have a system of misters that are supposed to spray the ground to keep it cool while you walk, but less that 25% actually gets sprayed. It was my only complaint. Very uncomfortable (for me) walking around between attractions.

Interesting point about those who arrive early vs those who do not and how that can shape the experience of the park. Did not think about and was confused as to why the park had so many bad reviews. I’ve lived in Florida all my life and LOVE volcano bay! It’s such a fun place and the rides are all so fun! My favorite “ride” is the (?)rushing river, it’s like a lazy river but it’s a lot quicker and there’s this big wave maker. I’m pretty sure the wave maker is weaker now then it used to be but when I used to go it was super fun, me and my brother would try to get caught in the wave which would usually end with us swallowing a lot of water, lol. I could go on and on about this place I just love it! Only complaint is the wrist watch things, I don’t know if my family just got unlucky but ours have malfunctioned on the few times we went, like if we’ve been there 7 times it’d probably be around 3-4 times they malfunctioned, it would only take a little time to get fixed and we could immediately get back to having fun though.

You guys are forgetting that not all rides are part of the Tapu Tapu. There are about 4 or 5 rides that are traditional queue lines. So if you want to stand in a line you can. I love being able to take an early lunch, do the wave pool or the rivers etc and then wait in 15 min line. Can't do that at Disney water parks

I work at Volcano Bay. About a week ago, the Tapu Tapu system was down across the whole park. That day, they were only able to let 4000 people in.
Oh wow! I suppose wouldn’t be so bad if you’re one of those 4000.
@@TheFrugalBrit Honestly, it was nice having a day where people weren't buying things with those wristbands. There are frequently issues with using them as payment, especially if you make multiple payments. Peoples payments get declined, only for them to get to their lockers and find out their bank is trying to contact them.
Best water park I have ever been to hands down. The amount of slides are unheard of, the layout easy to follow, the food is beyond just theme park food. Plus the rollercoaster, amazing. So you have to take a bus. You have to take a boat or Monorail to MK. The tap bands need to be instituted everywhere, best idea ever. If you go on July 4th weekend, yes it will be packed. Buy a cabana or preferred seating.

I went twice in 2021. This is my all time favorite park!! I can go to this park everyday and won’t be bored!!! The only negative I have is the prices of the cabanas. Other than that this park is a 10 to me.
So people go to VB on a busy day, arrive late and then complain because its busy and give it a 1-star review. Makes perfect sense! This is why I don't read reviews.

The last time I went on vacation that was in 2019 in august- September ( that’s when summer vacation starts in my country )and we drove to Orlando and rented a house, we went with 16 people to all the universal parks and we took a 3 park 2 day ticket. Everybody loved volcano bay ! That we actually were planning to go again in 2020 to Orlando just for volcano bay and to explore Orlando a lot more and go on a family cruise ! I really don’t get how they get bad reviews on trip advisor, the staff was friendly, the food was good and not that expensive like Disney world.

Wow, I thought it was AWESOME! But I went during Covid when it was pretty empty and left from the on site Surfside hotel. AND it was free! It was supposed to be $29 added to existing Universal tickets, but they closed early and gave me a full refund. Anyway, the water ride roller coaster Krakatoa is the best ride of the park and the one you want to use the Tapu Tapu for. Loved the lazy and not so lazy rivers. You can also purchase booze at the bars. I can understand why it would be a drag If it was really crowded. I would look at the crowd prediction sites and go when it is not too crowded, like weekdays.

This is one of the main problems I see with theme parks.
They really need to cap how many people can enter the park; prioritising advanced bookings, and door-sales if there's availability only.
If experiences were more consistent, I'd expect they would have better reviews and could increase ticket prices considerably (to make up for less # of tickets sold).

I'd deffo be a 1 star reviewer. Such a stressful day out. So many queues before you're even in the place, foot-blisteringly hot paths, not being able to use your tapu tapu because there's 'no queue' on the ride board, then getting to the ride and finding out there's now a queue then having to go back to the board again - repeatedly. One ride had an 8 hour queue too. How does that even happen?! Imagine using your tapu tapu on that one and not being able to go on any other rides for the whole day.

Another great review 👍. Slick , great editing and you covered all the essentials . There is only one top tip and you mentioned it in your review . Get there EARLY . If you do this you can hit all the top rides before the park gets busy . We managed todo all the thrill rides in the first two hours and then just used tapu throughout the day . Compared to Aquatica ( which I must say ) I am a fan 😃 , Volcano bay is a bit more hectic . At peak times including Easter they stop admission at 10,000 guests . As you said go midweek and that applies to all parks and you will have a fab time 😜

We have to go in August(as we work in a school). Wasn’t keen on Volcano Bay last time we visited. Sun loungers are cramped together, like you said its hard to navigate, I can say I only walked by the aqua coaster, missed so much of the park. Difficult to find the tapu tapu stations. We are going to try it again when we go next August x

Hi, i've noticed in a few videos when mentioning volcano bay you have only ever listed cabana bay as having a special entrance as such. Aventura actually also has a direct gate which opens just outside volcano bay.

it is rated not that good on tripadvisor because the park had a pretty rough start.
the reviews also made me skeptical to visit it at first, but now I gotta admit it was totally worth visiting

Great park you defo need to get there just before or on opening as then able to hit all rides with non to low wait times , i managed all rides with ease this way.Some friends of mine got there around 11.30am and said they barely got on anything as park was rammed.Agree cheaky with locker prices but overall really enjoyed it and will go again.Nice review great channel 👍🇱🇷😎
