This is EXACTLY what I need!!!!! I’m designing a “let’s get social” acrylic sign for my first project on my laser!!! So grateful for your videos, I return to them regularly as I am getting started with Illustrator.
Cori George! This was fun to watch. I don't have a laser at this time. Still on the fence as to whether or not I want to purchase one. Big issue is I want it to be able to engrave clear acrylic. Anyway, as I mentioned in a previous comment, we share April 28 as our birthday, so I hope you had a fun day!! I did nothing special this year. Very quiet.
I have seen some smaller CO2 lasers that can do clear acrylic that are less expensive! The Beamo is one of them, but I haven't tried it myself. Might be something to look into at some point! :) My birthday was pretty chill too!
Hi! Thank you for this awesome video! I wanted to know where do you recommend to buy acrylic sheets? I checked amazon but they just sell many pieces, and i’m new on this so I don’t need that much😕
Unfortunately these really do require the laser. I don't think the engraving tool on the maker 3 would be deep enough to provide the contrast needed. But Angie has an option with a Cricut! th-cam.com/video/5HCLGQZ8Awc/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for making this video, it was very informative. I have a sample piece of the two tone acrylic for the purposes of testing out engraving QR codes on, so I am glad I just found your video! Have you tried engraving the two-tone acrylic using your Aura? If so, what setting did you use? In this video, you stated you scrubbed the two tone after engraving it, did the brush leave any scratches on the acrylic?
@@HeyLetsMakeStuff Thanks so much for replying. I ended up testing it on my Aura on Proofgrade Medium Black settings for engraving & cut on 10 speed 10 power 4 passes. It looks pretty good & scans well, the sides were very sticky & are rough though. I didn't have a jig for it at the time, so printing was a bit off center.
You offered the file for the sign. No tutorial. So I got the file. Opened it, cut it, and it will not stay together. Can you explain exactly how this is suppose to work or did I just waste acrylic.
Did you use EcoThin acrylic? I think I may have discovered a problem in my file. It was made for 3mm acrylic and the thin acrylic is a different thickness so it wouldn't sit together as tightly. I didn't think that through when I was creating the file. So sorry!

Two tone acrylic 🙌🏼
You got this! I love it!
Thank you Gori you explain everything so well!!! Thank you for sharing! Hugs Lizx😊💞
Thank you Liz!!
@@HeyLetsMakeStuff You are so welcome Cori!! 😊💕

Houston Acrylic is my fave!
Great video! I liked the painted one the least. Can this be done on a Cricut Maker 3?

Thanks! I have not. I used my Glowforge Pro for this tutorial. I scrubbed with a dish brush and had no scratching!

@HeyLetsMakeStuff Yes, I did it with 3mm and it doesn't sit right at all.
@@MooshuJenne Can you tell if it imported into your laser software at the correct size? The width should be 5" for the main piece.
@HeyLetsMakeStuff Yes it didn't ask to resize it. It doesn't fit into the bottom to stay up.
Wish I had a laser.
Maybe someday!
