Hi Steve I have a ST5000+ hydraulic With Type 1 pump. Just bought the boat. When the pilot tries to adust course (drive the eletrick pump motor) it returns to Standby , after a flash on the controller showing" 5000+ hydraulick" (or someting simmular). Have disconected pump and the pilot delivers voltage to the wires for pump when not connected. Have tested the eletrick motor: runs with +/- 1-1,5 Amps, starting Amps from 1,5 to 5 amps. Could it only bad connections, ore is it the output transistors as you have fixed here ?
Based on your description, Id say one or more transistors has failed. Best practice is to replace them all. Contact me directly steve - at - marineelectronics repair dot com.
Steve I have a ST5000+ hydraulic stern drive now shows a seatalk error and nothing works. I disconnected seatalk and checked all cabling, still same issue. I had the LCD display repaired last year, don't think it would be related issue. Any guidance would be appreciated. I really miss the rudder position!
The ST5000+ has a special custom-made chip inside with the word AUTOHELM printed on it. It has likely failed. They are NLA from Raymarine, and must be salvaged from a donor unit. Contact me via my website for details. www.marineelectronicsrepair.com
