- First look at the new FTX Carnage 2.0, in Tay Models, Scotland.
Here, we compare it to the previous incarnation, to see what's what.
It turns out, not much has changed, but the few changes made are very welcome... ESPECIALLY the ESC!

I love my brushless carnage. I’ve bashed mine about a lot since Xmas. It’s lasting well
You should also see that they've improved the motor mount. There's no longer a space where the chassis meets the mount helping to prevent debris eating at the spur/pinion.

@@ANYTHING-AND-EVERYTHING. Yup! I've the Carnage 2.0 and the bugsta and was surprised when I saw the ringing mount on the new Carnage. Irritatingly, it's not available as a part yet after speaking to FTX. Likely a few months yet, maybe longer with delays due to covid
The main problem I had with my Bugsta and my mate had with his Carnage was grit getting into the spur gear as the casing isn't properly sealed. I thought that FTX might address that issue. We solved it with bathroom sealant! Anyway a nice new body shell if nothing else! Thanks for sharing Mike 😀
Bathroom sealant is a standard RC spare, right? Everyone has that in their RC toolbox, right? RIGHT??

Hi guys! Thanks for the video. I'm looking to buy an RC for myself and my 3yo boy. I came across Carnage 2.0 and the original one which is almost £200 but apparently waterproof. We like to go to the seaside and I was wondering if the Carnage 2.0 would be okay to drive on sand and wet surfaces like puddles and mud?
Sad to say the Carnage has put me off FTX for life. I couldn't get a pack through mine without killing the transmission, mostly the spur gear. Such a shame they didn't address this as I liked the way it drove.
That's a shame. Did you set the slipper clutch correctly? That should have prevented anything, unless you had an imbalance, somewhere in the gearbox?
Typical,and there was me hoping that they might have changed over to 32 dp gearing rather than that 48dp that they normally used.

I have a habit of stripping 48dp gears and 32dp is so much easier to set too.
Very true! Although, personally, I've always been happy with 48dp.
They addressed the Esc issue, that’s good, but anyone can just get a HW 1060.
What people can’t do is upgrade the a arms, spur gear and crown gear issues. All of which they’ve neglected after how many years of selling the old one?
The new esc is a hobby wing 1060

Thanks guys how do I stiffen up the suspension do I tighten or loosen the the adjust rings
Tighten them down a little bit, small changes at a time, maybe 5mm. This compresses the spring and increases the tension; thus, making the suspension stiffer.
hey Andrew. Once I added anti-roll bars to my carnage NT the suspension stiffened up considerably. It's a cheap hop up that makes a big difference to the amount of abuse the carnage can take on impact. I've not bent my chassis since adding the anti-roll bars.

That is Sloppy. They’ve made no improvements to the build quality the chassis has not changed just Slapped a new body on and painted the wheels chrome.

We have just bought 2 of these for our boys Christmas. I have read that people upgrade the batteries to 2s lipos 7.4v for longer run time, can you tell me if its a straight fit or do I have to change the connections on the wires? Cheers and thanks for an informative video
Some lipos come with the Tamiya-style plug (which will be a direct fit), but most come with Deans plugs. For this, you'd need a Deans to Tamiya adapter, for each car. These are dirt cheap and are all over ebay etc. After that, there's simply a little jumper on the ESC. You can move this from "ni-mh" to "lipo" and you're good to go! DON'T FORGET to move the jumper! Otherwise your ESC will kill your lipo batteries. You'll also need a lipo charger. Ni-mh battery charges do not charge lipos and risk starting a fire if they are tried. Make sure you read up on lipo charging. it's very straightforward, but it's important.

@@itsmepaul2011 He does (I don't work there, I'm just a friend), but he doesn't have everything listed online. If you're looking for lipos, a charger and some advice etc. better to ring him. The phone number is on the Tay Models website. He doesn't work Mondays, though!

i'm about to order one for my son, should I order any spares with it? is it durable? i read elsewhere that a better battery makes it much faster
Hello. Nah, as long as you don't go mental at a skate park (or something similar), then it should hold-up pretty well. Although, it never hurts to grab a few spares, especially when FTX spares are so damn cheap!
Yes, a 2s (7.4v) lipo makes it go better. Top speed is only marginally better, but the response/pick-up is greater.
I have a Carnage Brushless Original and have unfortunately lost the remote controller but cannot seem to find one anywhere online 😕
Better off just getting a cheap 2.4Ghz system. They're only about £20+ and they'll come pre-bound, so will work straight away.

You could try stiffening-up the suspension, or buy the FTX Sway Bar set (anti-roll bars), part no. FTX6376.
Is there nitro version of carnage 2.0?

Ebay is your best bet.
Major problem of these cars is just too much flex / bending of the chassis that forces on the gears and destroy transmission . v1 or v2 same problem.
Bad design.
Yes, they aren't amazing. Fine in normal bashing situations. Anything more hardcore causes issues.
