  • Here are the untold stories and experiences of NDA cadets that I want to help share with the world.
    This experience is really a perfect example of how genuine friendships can transcend time and space.
    I've studied abroad at NDA from August-December, 2018, then returned to film this video in December, 2019 during my winter vacation. I never had any background in filmmaking or videography, so this was an incredible journey of self-learning, and I definitely hope to craft more of this kind of content in the future.
    While initially meant for West Points cadets, I realized people who will never have a chance to visit NDA might appreciate what this video has to offer, so if you enjoyed watching this, please let me (and the NDA cadets) know your thoughts down below.
    A huge thank you to everyone who made this video possible and allowing me to share your story. There are so many others I haven't been able to include who took such great care of me and gave me some of the best experiences of my life. Lastly, thank you to Paul for giving me the energy and inspiration to finish making this video. Throughout 2020, I would always put it off by making excuses that I was too busy or tired, but I realized this represents so much more than myself. It represents the life and struggles of these cadets, so I'm glad that it's finally complete for you all to see.
    For more stories about NDA, check out this interview with the West Point Center for Oral History about me and my friend's time abroad and in Iwo Jima: bit.ly/2QbclW9

    I absolutely enjoyed my time here at the 2019 ICC, and would love to come back during my career with the US Army! Also the food was amazing!

    Looking some videos about NDA of Japan and found this. Was really informative and the perspective was nice, transparent and based on what we can encounter in inside. From the Ph, thanks to M. Zoe and Mr. Alexis.

    This video was very interesting to watch, I have a side interest (Hobby) of Japanese cars so naturally I began to learn more about japan as a country bit by bit. I am in the Australian Army so naturally I have worked alongside the JGSDF and the other two branches of the JSDF fairly often when compared to other militaries (only the USMC and NZDF would be more frequent in comparison), I have always wondered what sort of training JGSDF Officers/Enlisted received and how it compared to my own training so I found this video very informative, I wish you great success, Good day.

      Thank you! I always find it fascinating how other militaries interact with the JSDF, so I sincerely appreciate your insight!

    しかし私は今年防衛大学校を受験するので、他で見れないリアルな話内部情報が得られて非常にありがたいです。すごい参考になりました。

    Hi, drop by to ask you if cadets use their mobile phones or laptops? If they could, when?
    And i also want to know if us foreign cadets could get by with just knowing English?

    • @koizumithomas
      @koizumithomas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello! They can use their phones and laptops. Asides from during military training, they typically can use their laptops for schoolwork during the study hours and for their personal use during free time. They can use their phones as well; however, there are several restrictions on posting about the school on social media for security reasons. And foreign cadets take what's called a zeroth year where they learn Japanese for 1 year. You are expected to become proficient in Japanese to the point you can study at a college level. Most Japanese people don't speak English well, so unfortunately it won't be able to help you much.

      Thanks a lot. Now i kind of have gotten a little bit better at Japanese. Still don’t think that this will be enough when i become a first year student. Btw this video is 99% accurate.
