As someone who was really into TGWTG in ~2010-2013, seeing this would probably have been traumatic. I had and to some extent still have issues with seeing people's roles instead of seeing them as people wearing a costume, so it would have been very....disillusioning. Like seeing a magician backstage stuffing a rabbit into a hat, only worse.
Don't worry Mike, your reputation of reviewing useless tat and how it interacts with cheese will not be tarnished by your time over at Channel Awesome. Nor wil your Shameful Sequels.
I discovered you, and a lot of other people, via Channel Awesome, but for the past few years, I barely visit the website, and just watch new videos directly from the content creator's TH-cam page. I watch some people who have left CA but they never went into detail about why they left. Thank you for being open and honest.
I initially found you through CA. But I've been watching you on TH-cam only since, uh, I think shortly after Blip died. I'll continue to enjoy you here. :)
been whatching since the blip days. Sad to see CA crumbling down, but I already got a feeling sad not all was so well as it seemed when Phelean left. You'll make it on your own, though! After all I'm still whatching you, Brad Jones and Phelean after basically watching everybody on CA during the blip days. Cheers from Germany =)
After this past weekend, I now officially follow more FORMER Channel Awesome producers than CURRENT ones. And I usually watch most of the current ones on TH-cam anyway.
Dude, so happy you and Linkara are both out of the mess now. I found you through CA back when it was TGWTG and your Shameful Sequels reviews really helped me get through that year (my grandfather had passed the same month and nothing was really funny to me for a long time) but to think so many people who made me laugh were dealing with this crap or soon going to? Absolutely inexcusable. Got all my support man! Keep it up with the terrible infomercial products and cute cats lol
Or maybe it's just that Channel Awesome has been around for so long because it filled a niche. Now it's too old and too big and it's just time for it to die now.
Well, at least the good thing that came out of the fiasco is that now I'm rediscovering all the people from CA that I used to love to watch before I gave up on the website! Including you! Hi, it's been literally years since I last watched your videos but I'm subscribing now and I'm gonna check out all the stuff I missed :) I'm actually really excited
Glad you left CA. They mistreated Phelan and Allison, and I have not forgiven them since. Phelan and Allison are doing much better now since they left, and I wish you the same on your new journey!
I stopped watching Channel Awesome a few years ago when I heard about how shitty they treated Lindsay Ellis/Nostalgia Chick, marzgirl and Lupa. Channel Awesome's content, particularly Doug's, had already started going off the rails by then anyway. I'm glad their dirty laundry is finally getting aired out. You can only treat people like garbage for so long before it ruins a reputation.
I think he means how Doug;s reviews have been going off the rails. Did you see his Home Alone 2 review? It was like 35 minutes of just the skit! The skit took longer than the actual review! And his politics keep getting in the way too! It's not as enjoyable anymore.
jgfjgfify true, there is no easy way to have the cake and eat it too, but sticking your head in the sand, unfriending/blocking people and hoping it will all go away doesn't improve on the situation at hand. That "apology" they issued is an insult. To come clean they would have to give a frak, issue a sincere apology, then proceed to abandon the IP or buy out Michaud, none of which is likely to happen. Subscribing to Malcom, Walter, Aiyana and Tamara right now, then I have some Google docs reading to do before I decide what to do with my ca subscription
I cant believe i didnt watch this video untill now. I found your content on CA when they still had a nice roster of creators. Easy to navigate creators and lists of season etc... You dont owe them anything, but iam thankful for them to have connected me to your videos. :)
Congrats on the channel and success, Mike. I'm a long time subscriber and always look forward to your videos. Infomercialism and "A Week On" are my favorites.
Mike.......I've always held you in the same reguard as diamanda, snob, Lupa, and phelouse. You make bloody good content and I'm more then happy you left that toxic cesspool. Cheer to you m8. I'm looking forward to you growing.
Mike I just wanted to say thank you for making Shameful Sequels and all the time you put in on TGWTG. You were one of my favorite content creators back in the day
I remember every year of the anniversary specials I'd wait to see if you we're finally in one. Every year I was disappointed. I always felt like you we're the most underrated and under used person on that site.
I support you MikeJ, and I'm sorry to hear how CA has treated you. I know from personal experience how it feels to have knowledge you don't know of being lorded over your head like "ooh, ooh, I know something you don't know~!" and it does feel shitty. You should have gotten at least something for your short if it was being sold on DVDs :/ ah well. I recently subscribed and I plan to keep watching you dude. Best of luck from here on out, you're a funny guy and you deserve to keep getting views!
Thank you for sharing this update with your fans and followers, Mike. I have followed your work since the beginning and always enjoyed the videos you produce. So glad to see you have much more to give us! We'll always keep supporting you. I didn't know CA treated you so bad after all these years. Can't wait for your new projects!
If it's an consultation Mike, I'd forgotten you were affiliated with he site until I saw you in a cross over. I'll be honest, your content stands well enough on its own, better in fact. I'm still watching your videos, and a few other contributers, but I haven't looked at the CA site or TH-cam channel in months. You deserve better than to be ignored by CA.
I found you through the old That Guy With the Glasses website. I used to watch lots of people there. When they switched to the newer Channel Awesome site I continued to watch for a while, but the viewing experience was awful. The new site was so laggy, and the ads were a massive distraction. I remember there were lots of video ads playing in the sidebars that would actually play over the videos I was trying to watch. It didn't help that the new site was so badly organized that it was a pain in the neck trying to look up old videos that I wanted to rewatch. I went on the forums there a few times to add my voice to others complaining about the issues. We got a few platitudes, but over the course of several months nothing happened. People kept voicing complaints, but the lag, the sidebar video ads, and the organizational system remained unchanged. So I just stopped visiting Channel Awesome. The site administrators obviously didn't care about making an enjoyable experience for people. Fortunately, a lot of the content creators I liked were moving over to TH-cam and other sites then anyway. I like watching you and the others here on TH-cam now, and I haven't been to Channel Awesome's site in ages.
As well their desperation to get new people kind of showed. There were certainly a few people who stood out, but the site was no longer a buffet of good-great content.
I once drew an A3 poster of Ross Noble and share it to him during a show, he described it to the audience as, “just a picture of the bloke we’re actually looking at here”, but he can be like that. I’m sorry to hear what’s been happening to you and your other CA mates. Keep doing what you love.
I remember watching Kickassia, Suburban Knights and To Boldly Flee at the time they came out and being dissappointed that you and some of my other favourite creators were left out. You truly were one of their better talents and I’m sorry they didn’t show you the respect or appreciation that you deserved. It’s sad that it came to this and that something couldn’t be worked out, but I completely understand your reasons for leaving and think you made the right choice.
This makes me wince so hard. I wish I had stopped using their site ages ago. But at least I didn't buy any of the DVDs. You're one of the people I consistently enjoyed on the site and the way they treated you is shameful. I wondered why you weren't part of the anniversaries. Here's to the future!
Elitist is a good word for it. I remember when they put out a video saying they were looking for new creators, but your videos had to look really professional and high quality. As if people like Doug Walker didn't get their start with a shitty camera in their fucking parents' house.
I'm really grateful this pinged up on my start page after watching other videos on this whole...thing. I've had memory issues and yours was sadly one of the names that slipped my mind. I've always enjoyed your content, though, so I'm happy to have found you again here. :) Also, that story about binning some fanart...that tore. Rest of this whole mess does, too, but the immediate, direct dickishness of that move...yeah, you're right, that really did encapsulate what the whole attitude is. :( Thank you, Mike, and all the best for the future for you!
Well great , they might as well just shut down channel awesome since a lot of people are leaving,it's just won't be the same anymore , especially with you .Oh well , I wish you best luck in your path moving forward in the future.
Nathaniel Foga I'm running out of places to go get my reviews from. Both Channel Awesome and The Escapist are dead. The Internet is getting to be a much less interesting place.
But the channels that separated from them aren't going anywhere, are they? It's just that they won't be part of those two "brands", but otherwise, their content itself will likely not change.
It doesn’t matter to me anymore I stop keeping watch after Doug stopped ask that guy and video game confessions. Spoony left and switched to live streams. Brad has his own website(which I had an easier time navigating).Todd is still on TH-cam. Oancitizen became less frequent. And linkara stayed his beautiful self though I am piss I can’t the top spot on his Patreon.
Sorry to hear you and so many great content creators went through. I remember watching your shameful sequels when I was younger glad to see you again and just subscribed
It's a shame you were so ignored on CA, your Infomercialism series was one of the highlights of the channel and one of my primary reasons for visiting the site, where I discovered you.
I'm glad this showed up on my suggested feed. Back when I actively followed Channel Awesome you were one of the contributors that I made sure to watch every time I saw an upload. It's good to see that you got out of there.
Ah, that's a good point. To be fair, though, it would be far from the worst "week on" in terms of enjoyment, wouldn't it? Wouldn't be the healthiest, I suppose (hence my previous remark), but far from the worst.
New subscriber from the states. It's actually a long time coming for me. I've always liked your stuff but can never find your channel. Well, I'm here now and going back to binge watch.....literally wverything you've done. I'll even click on ads every time and let them roll. Good luck, I'll be watching!
4:52 ...By any chance was the drawing story from ALcon 2013? Because I think that story might have been me. I remember after the panel my drawing was left behind reguardless. Anyway, I wish you all the best in your future, glad you made it out the shit storm of CA
I used to love CA in its prime. You were one of my favourites, especially the thread of Shameful Sequels based on Jim Carrey vehicles. It sours me to see the creators stories on the twitter about CA. You still are fun to watch and follow and like a fine wine, have aged well over time ❤
I always felt like the rest of CA and TBTB just always seemed to ignore your great content and it was such a shame. You've really grown into your own (and Gracie being in them has added a new dimension to the videos), so it's such a shame (no pun intended) this all happened to you. Glad you're keeping on even with all they did to you.
I'll be brutally honest. I haven't seen a single one of your videos outside of your cameos. But the good news is I just subscribed and plan to binge on all your videos. :)
Very interesting to hear the situation from your perspective outside of the "main" players that CA had. At the same time, considering that Linkara (who was always one of the "Big 3" faces of CA along with Nostalgia Critic/Chick and Spoony) also resigned last week, it's safe to say CA has fully gone to shit on all sides. Also I enjoyed your short film you did for their special, but them making money with your hard work and you making zero is especially super shitty. ffs.
Darn Mike. Well good for you man I remember when I first found you over there I marathoned like all of the shameful sequel episodes of the time. Hope you keep making more it's one of my favorite series
I used to watch your reviews a lot during the hayday of Channel Awesome on blip. I'm glad I've rediscovered you and can easily find all your stuff on youtube. Yay!
Whilst I came to know you through Channel Awesome, I expressly made a point to find you on youtube because I am a fan of your content. The only reputations harmed by the whole matter are those of the people that the grievances were made against.
So glad I found you through Channel Awesome Mike. Your content is something I laughed and enjoyed for years. Please keep it up! You’re better off without them. Hope all is well and here’s to success!
Man, I'm a content creator and writer, if I had a fan who comes to me and give me a drawing he/she made for me, even if is the ugliest thing I ever see I would cherish that like a treasure. Must be the greatest feeling in the world to have someone who cares so much for one.
I found you via channel awesome back then, and you were the first I started to follow on youtube & support on patreon, when I stopped whacthing CA. Keep it up, Mike. Your content is just great!
I found you through Channel Awesome several years ago because of Shameful Sequels, still love those and really love your infomercial segments. Seen a lot of people leave Channel Awesome for this and that, sorry to hear that your experience was so harsh with them. Of course I'm still going to keep my subscription to you and look forward to your new content whenever you release it. May your popularity grow famously.
While not exactly the same I'm reminded a lot of a book I read recently, The Death of WCW. One of the book's primary conceit's is WCW's obsession with, "Working the boys", effectively the belief that they couldn't deceive the audience into thinking the content was real if the people in the back knew it was fake. All it did was create an awful working environment, where none of the employees except the "top guys" was invested at all in any of the stories at all because they just assumed it was another case of the company lying. Due to the toxic atmosphere some of WCW's biggest young stars like Chris Jericho and Eddie Guererro jumped ship to their competitors and it ultimately ended up being one of the biggest reasons for WCW going from the biggest wrestling company in history to being shut down just 3 years later.
I don't understand why he still gets such views, as he's pretty shite in comparison to a lot of other people who are / were with Channel Awesome, such as Phelous, Allison / Lupa, Diamanda Hagan, Film Brain, Lindsay Ellis and the Cinema Snob. Yes, this is all just my opinion, but they all strike me as more personable and actually passionate about what they do in comparison and that makes a lot of difference to me as a consumer of their media.
Doug's line of comedy became stale when he started adding skit's after the final collab movie and even then it wasn't all that great when compared to Spoony, AVGN ect. It was usually quite cringy, forced and just generally chewing the scenery.
Master Markus because TH-cam's algorithm still sorts him high up and places him into the recommendations of every person who watches "review" videos on TH-cam. That's how he and AJ keep getting these relatively large view counts.
It feels like I'm having a kind of high school reunion. I used to spend a lot of time watching Channel Awesome content as a teen, over the years I lost track of a lot of the producers, but since the news broke, I've been tracking everyone down. Looks like most people have gone on to bigger and better things, everyone has come to develop their own unique style.
Really sorry to hear about your experiences at Channel Awesome. Back in the day (when it was still That Guy With The Glasses) I dreamed of becoming a successful video producer and joining the site, but having seen the accounts of both yoursekf, Linkara, Phelous etc I'm glad I never actually made it, as I don't think I could honestly handle being treated the way you all have. It's disrespectful and that's something I can never stand for. Can't wait to see some more Shameful Sequels, keep up the good work :)
I used to work at an animation studio. Someone sent fanart for the showrunners. The showrunners were kind of hard to reach so I had to go through my boss. Who told me to throw them away. These really beautiful pieces of artwork that someone poured their soul into. Just like the drawing to the bin in your story. Granted, I bypassed my boss and got the art to the showrunners and one of them got really emotional and said, "Ya know, no one ever does this for us. No one knows who we are and this is really incredible."
Hey Mike, I used to watch your videos back in ‘09, I always liked your content. I stopped several years ago from watching anything related to Channel Awesome after Kickassia and the stories that came out about what was going on behind the scenes. I didn’t want to support the site at all, I haven’t watched a Nostalgia Critic review in years and I have no intention of ever watching him again. It’s nothing against others who were on the site at the time, or you. But I personally couldn’t support a site that was treating people the way they were. So consider me an old fan coming back, and I’d love to support you here on TH-cam.
Weirdly enough you were one of the only people I still watched primarily through that site when i watched everyone else on youtube. BUT i've got you subbed now so I'll check out more stuff on here.
My first question is 'what's channel awesome?' because I'd completely forgotten that was even still a thing. Then, upon being reminded, I'm just utterly amazed that the group in question even exists anymore.
Didn't know you were still Affiliate with Channel Awesome, or that it was a thing anymore. I honestly only thought that Channel Awesome was for Doug and Co. at this point.
Jutland Angel Almost, the only big names left are Angry Joe and Cinema Snob. Linkara leaving was a bit of a shock to me. Even smaller producers are bowing out.
It's because those NDAs that Mike Michaud put on many of the producers are going to begin to crumble soon. Very Soon, a Scandal is about to hit regarding Channel Awesome's owner and creator Mike Michaud. I pray that Doug and Rob have legal advice and wisdom, because its going to be a FIRESTORM that if not careful, they could take the brut and Michaud could easily throw them under the bus and blame everything on them(when they had NO idea what was going on in the Corporate and Business side of things.).
Linkara, while being supposedly conservative in a place where many FarLeftist are hosted, is political in his videos nonetheless (Feminism, islamophobia, etc.). He bashed many times Frank Miller due to his political views. (and not only because of the quality of his latest works)
You've always been one of my favorite people on Channel Awesome. Your comedy was subtle and smart and you were never an obnoxious personality. Thank you for that. That said, I have almost zero reason to continue watching Channel Awesome. It's weird seeing 30-somethings try to pander to a fanbase half their age. I never felt like you were pandering. Ah well, their loss. Best of luck, I'll remain a subscriber and fan of yours.
I watch Nostalgia Critic videos from time to time, but I never knew you were involved with Channel Awesome as well. So yeah... probably not going to affect my casual watching of content from your channel. Good for you for doing what's right for your channel. Plus (when I first discovered your channel) I think I was recommended one of your videos after watching some Ashens videos on TH-cam, so not only did CA have nothing to do with it, neither did any other CA content creators. I doubt you have anything to really lose from leaving.
I had heard stories about Spoony's behavior towards a female reviewer and I couldn't imagine it. He was the only one of the major reviewers who ever gave me the time of day. It helps that he was writing a Highlander fanfiction and posting it on a website where I had been a seasoned member. I was really hoping it was just rumor spreading. Sometimes people will hear something, take it out of context, and tweet the heck out of it for the attention so I don't usually pay those things any mind. But I listened to another reviewer who spoke of the culture of bullying and harassment that has been apparently festering for a long time at Channel Awesome. One or two I could brush off but a lot of people are putting videos out like this and even Obscura Lupa is among them. It's sad. Not that I'm surprised that people you admire can let you down but it's sad all the same. I was especially sad to hear a story from another reviewer about how the Channel Awesome big wigs were planning to exploit the death of Jew Wario. I know there are sacrifices to make when it comes to getting to the top but the thing about getting to the top is that eventually you will come back down. I'm glad you're one of the ones with integrity and that you're planning to go solo. I'll certainly check your reviews out.
Years ago, my girlfriend and I made a simple puzzle video game. We were fans of CA at the time, and wanted to use some of them as extra characters in the game, so we asked them for permission, got it, and spent hundreds of hours drawing and programming them into the game. When we were finally done, we had made characters for Nostalgia Critic, Spoony, Linkara, and Angry Joe, but they wouldn't so much as answer our e-mails after it was done. The game wasn't super high-quality, but it hurt to have all of that work wasted.
So sorry that happened to you, Mike. You’re an extremely talented person, and I’ve very much enjoyed watching your videos over the years! Best wishes, and may God bless!
Hello Mike, I discovered you on channel awesome back in 2010, and have followed you ever since. I had no idea about channel awesome, so thank you for sharing. I am glad you left after being treated as such, and will continue to support you. Keep up your work.
TJ Kirk (TheAmazingAtheist) made a similar movie years ago when he left TGWTG, where his videoos were the most viewed but were never posted in the top3 on the sidebars. I pretty much stopped visiting the website when it migrated from TGWTG to CA. Never liked the interface and how things are presented on CA. I just go on it during the holidays and sometimes binge watch 1-2 people that are still there.
You and Erod are the only contributors that brought me to CA for years on end. Even when the Critic went silent, and wasn't putting out anything interesting I'd always have your content to look forward to. Good luck!
I remember stumbling onto your videos on CA, and while I have outgrown the Nostalgia Critic, I'm so glad that you are still making content and made a change for the better! Looking forward to your next video!
I stopped going to the site years ago. The only reviewer I still follow who is associated with them is Brad Jones/Cinema Snob, and I watch all his content on his YT channel. They have made a shit show of the website and I hope it truly comes back to bite them in the ass, some day.
Good for you Mike. I stopped visiting Channel Awesome years ago. I had noticed some of the unsavoriness that you mentioned. I kept tabs on a few people though. I still love Spoony's rants and entertaining stories, even though it's mostly just livestreams now a days. I check out a few Angry Joe reviews every now and then. But I never seem to miss a video by a certain british person. A big thank you for all the laughs over the years. Cheers!
Had no idea you were still on Channel Awful, brother, you deserve better. It's basically just Doug's closest dead-enders and... Brad Jones at this point, isn't it? What a mess. Looking forward to your upcoming stuff. Love the Infomercialisms especially.
Mike Cecconi Doug actually doesn't own CA. He doesn't even own his Nostalgia Critic character. He's pretty much just a mascot at this point with no actual say in what happens on the site
Maybe but all the accounts out there make it clear that Walker's been complicit with the worst parts of that community from the start. Maybe not always doing the worst things but always knowing they were happening and never trying to stop them. And on the other side, creatively, the creators that have come on relatively lately have all just been trying to do Walker's thing not their own things so... while you're technically right, I think that technicality doesn't make much of a difference?
Didn't even know Channel Awesome still existed. I figured after the gravy train that was BlipTV shut down everyone dis-banded for better distribution and their own brand.
Best of luck to you Mike. Sad about CA. It is a shame when you get too close to your idols and start seeing the cracks. Glad you are moving on and doing your own thing.
I think you are the only CA creator that I still watch. I know most of them are critics and that’s their thing but I came to realize a lot of their comments or just purely negative. I was recently feeling pretty down about pretty much everything and my husband took me to a movie and that movie made me feel so good about myself it was a little cheesy in some Respects but I truly just feel good about myself after leaving the theater. A week or so later they did a review of the same movie and it kind of made me feel stupid for liking it so much. I just unsubscribed to a lot of them and I have not regretted it. I’ve seen reviews or where they were negative on movies I’ve enjoyed in the past and quite honestly they can make accurate points. But I feel like the style has change so much where it’s just not as funny anymore and I feel like when I saw a video pop up on my subscribe stream that it was more of a chore to watch or attempt to watch their videos. Anyway this is way too long just keep doing what you’re doing I love the “week ons”
From what I could tell, a lot of them don't know how to properly critique a work. A lot of nit-picky bullshit, but not a lot about story structure or anything like that. It may be how a lot of critics may start out, but it gets old if you don't move on to more substantive issues with bad writing. Doesn't help if you're always negative all the time, even on things that are explicitly in a realm of something that's so bad it's good or dealing with genuinely good parts in an otherwise deeply flawed work.
I had bad vibes about CA back when the TGWTG merger happened and a lot of people suddenly left during/afterwards. A few of them spoke out and talked about (or greatly implied) there being blatant favoritism towards certain people, while others would be verbally attacked for not meeting ridiculous deadlines. It sucks that they didn't even try to hide how little they care about others (that person who threw out that fan art is a fucking jackass) and that they made a profit off of your hard work.
The fact that youre spot on about people not associating you with channel awesome even though you've been with them for 9 years just speaks volumes.
That story about the fan is so horrible :(
DiamandaHagan Yeah that is pretty shitty.
PS. You rock DH :)
Who wants to bet the guy who ripped up the fan art was Film Brain?
No chance, Filmbrain would never do that.
Thanks :)
Mike, stick with Barry Lewis, Stuart Ashens, and the rest of that crew, they all seem to have their heads screwed on straight
it's not like him an ashens are strangers, either. they've done a lot of work together.
It appears like all of the UK crew are very well keen on eachother. Good friends, close proximity even if Ireland is a flight away, crossover content.
Phillip Marlowe just hoping they get Thew Adams even though he reviews toys.
Don't worry Mike, your reputation of reviewing useless tat and how it interacts with cheese will not be tarnished by your time over at Channel Awesome. Nor wil your Shameful Sequels.
dont forget sticking his willy in stuff too!
I'm afraid I've missed that. May I have a link?
Perhaps now CA can join the ranks of useless tat he reviews.
It's like Ashens with 50 percent more cheese references!
llamasandanime _An Excellent Comparison_
I can't wait to get around to Channel Awesome on Fallen Titans.
Quinton Reviews Oh hai Quinton I didn’t know it was you.
the fallen titans of CA BAM!
I'd recommend giving that a few months for the potentially bigger developments and dying down of this recent controversy, but hell yeah.
Quinton Reviews I've saw you comment on misters video a year ago. You going to make it finally?
My mom is still waiting for alimony.
Yeah, still a fan of Phelan, Brad and even Linkara funny enough is still kind of great with his content (everything else aside... ).
Channel Awesome has finally hit its tipping point, soon there will be no one left but Doug.
Maybe it can finally die.
That's the problem. They treated the site like it was all about Doug. If that was their intent, why not be forthcomming about it?
I know what's happening is for the best, but I don't want NC to end
Even Doug wanted to end NC quite awhile ago, but the fans won't let him.
I mean, then they can go back to being "that guy with the glasses" because he'll be the only guy left anyway.
After this past weekend, I now officially follow more FORMER Channel Awesome producers than CURRENT ones. And I usually watch most of the current ones on TH-cam anyway.
Will Hutchings Not that hard considering there’s like...three channel awesome reviewers at the this point. Brad, Nostalgia, and Angry Joe
I think we're passed the days of content creator groups
Everyone has their own patreon and can fix up their own cross pollination deals
Well, the Easy Allies are a really warm and fuzzy content creator group with a shared Patreon, so thre's that at least.
Isn’t Team 10 basically a group done right ?
Or maybe it's just that Channel Awesome has been around for so long because it filled a niche. Now it's too old and too big and it's just time for it to die now.
So happy you left Channel Awesome and will continue to support your channel.
I found your channel through this video, and I'm really enjoying your videos. Good on you for kicking CA to the curb.
Well, at least the good thing that came out of the fiasco is that now I'm rediscovering all the people from CA that I used to love to watch before I gave up on the website! Including you! Hi, it's been literally years since I last watched your videos but I'm subscribing now and I'm gonna check out all the stuff I missed :)
I'm actually really excited
Glad you left CA. They mistreated Phelan and Allison, and I have not forgiven them since. Phelan and Allison are doing much better now since they left, and I wish you the same on your new journey!
no dr gonzo was so sad wat they put him through
I stopped watching Channel Awesome a few years ago when I heard about how shitty they treated Lindsay Ellis/Nostalgia Chick, marzgirl and Lupa. Channel Awesome's content, particularly Doug's, had already started going off the rails by then anyway. I'm glad their dirty laundry is finally getting aired out. You can only treat people like garbage for so long before it ruins a reputation.
Doug and Rob had NOTHING to do with the business side of things. Mike Michaud and his Butt Buddy Jason "LordKat" Pullara.
Both are Sexist Dickbags.
I think he means how Doug;s reviews have been going off the rails. Did you see his Home Alone 2 review? It was like 35 minutes of just the skit! The skit took longer than the actual review! And his politics keep getting in the way too! It's not as enjoyable anymore.
Well the walkers are complicit here, by knowing about stuff and not doing anything about it
jgfjgfify true, there is no easy way to have the cake and eat it too, but sticking your head in the sand, unfriending/blocking people and hoping it will all go away doesn't improve on the situation at hand.
I hope Filmbrain didn't see Doug throw out that drawing he gave to him, poor little guy.
Dante_the_lifting_capitalist I need that money I really do. I need that money... to pay my bills...
G. S.
Nostalgia critic new reviews suck.
Mike I just wanted to say thank you for making Shameful Sequels and all the time you put in on TGWTG. You were one of my favorite content creators back in the day
Good luck on the future, bro!
Your phone video looks and sounds way better than the camera one
Here's to the future!
wait, what? You were still on Channel Awesome?! Well, good for you for leaving that horrible elitist circle jerk.
Elmer Plox "horrible elitist circle jerk"
Wot?
Edit: I should've watched the video first.
Or know any of the characters involved.
Have fun.
th-cam.com/video/Srp-pPmCjc8/w-d-xo.html
Elitist is a good word for it. I remember when they put out a video saying they were looking for new creators, but your videos had to look really professional and high quality. As if people like Doug Walker didn't get their start with a shitty camera in their fucking parents' house.
I'm really grateful this pinged up on my start page after watching other videos on this whole...thing. I've had memory issues and yours was sadly one of the names that slipped my mind. I've always enjoyed your content, though, so I'm happy to have found you again here. :)
Also, that story about binning some fanart...that tore. Rest of this whole mess does, too, but the immediate, direct dickishness of that move...yeah, you're right, that really did encapsulate what the whole attitude is. :(
Thank you, Mike, and all the best for the future for you!
That place is shit to begin with. Mike Michaud and the Walker bros. are nothing but scam artists.
I don't think the Walkers are bad people at heart; they're just really shit at running a company and taking others' projects seriously.
I’ll never understand why Film Brain would always be involved and not you. You are way more entertaining than that awkward dope.
It's a shame you were so ignored on CA, your Infomercialism series was one of the highlights of the channel and one of my primary reasons for visiting the site, where I discovered you.
I remember when TGWTG was awesome!
Then it became Channel Awesome... which... well... the irony is in the name, because it is anything but.
I'm glad this showed up on my suggested feed. Back when I actively followed Channel Awesome you were one of the contributors that I made sure to watch every time I saw an upload. It's good to see that you got out of there.
Week on McDonald's?
Supersize M(ik)e
I wouldn't recommend it
You want to kill Mike, don't you? :P
Nightquaker if you watch the video he says not loving it so im guessing it's a week on McDonald's
Ah, that's a good point.
To be fair, though, it would be far from the worst "week on" in terms of enjoyment, wouldn't it?
Wouldn't be the healthiest, I suppose (hence my previous remark), but far from the worst.
So cool that you're talking about this. It's been a long time coming. Best of luck to you, Mike! Keep on creatin'!
CA went downhill after TBF.
Without Spoony, Phelous, and now Mike it's a shadow of it's former glory.
Goku Black although Spoony is in a bad way now.
TBF?
To Boldly Flee.
They just lost Linkara too
Ultra Instinct Goku Black spoony was alway cancer
New subscriber from the states. It's actually a long time coming for me. I've always liked your stuff but can never find your channel. Well, I'm here now and going back to binge watch.....literally wverything you've done. I'll even click on ads every time and let them roll. Good luck, I'll be watching!
4:52 ...By any chance was the drawing story from ALcon 2013? Because I think that story might have been me. I remember after the panel my drawing was left behind reguardless.
Anyway, I wish you all the best in your future, glad you made it out the shit storm of CA
Oooooh, spill the beans... who was the drawing of?
6:30 "Keep your eyes on the noose surrounding channel awesome" Yep. Good luck fuckers. I'm glad you left Mike!
Noose? News? In this situation it's the same thing.
Keep watch for Mike Michaud. His whole World is about to come crashing down.
The Man is likely going to be headed to the Slammer, too.
I haven't watched anything on CA since Spoony left! You were pretty much the only person I watched consistently and repeatedly. Well good luck!
I found you on CA through Shameful Sequels, but I will follow you across all platforms, sir!
Man, I'm a content creator and writer, if I had a fan who comes to me and give me a drawing he/she made for me, even if is the ugliest thing I ever see I would cherish that like a treasure. Must be the greatest feeling in the world to have someone who cares so much for one.
El Ochentero - Fame often goes to peoples heads... they probably also wanted to appear nonchalant and aloof in front of Mike.
I found you via channel awesome back then, and you were the first I started to follow on youtube & support on patreon, when I stopped whacthing CA. Keep it up, Mike. Your content is just great!
tbh i thought you had left CA ages ago(same with lots of others who have recently left)
I thought he did as well. >_>
This is such an accurate comparison it hurts.
Thanks for the update, Mike. Can't wait for your new vids!
hahahah CA is crumbling so hard
Doug gets more views than all these nobodies combined, the only one who can rival him is angry Joe.
I like your honesty and really enjoy Shameful Sequels PLEASE BRING IT BACK ;D
I always got the impression that everyone on channel awesome thought they were better than everyone else.
Justin Parallax It's the main website for which Nostalgia Critic is connected
The best thing about those anniversary 'films' was your shameful sequels on them. Good luck for the future from a long time fan.
They got way too political as well. Probably why Linkara left.
Watched you often on CA, lost track of you.but just found you here on YT, glad I did. Always Solid work
You were still part of Channel Awesome?
duneblythe Well not anymore
Good for you for getting out and thank you for speaking about it.
That fan story, jayzus.
hey Prince, love your stuff! :)
and yes, its unbelievable...
Good for you, mate. Good for you.
You'll be much better without Channel Awesome anyway!
Looking forward to more dubious ways to grate cheese 😁
Hello Mike,
I discovered you on channel awesome back in 2010, and have followed you ever since.
Glad I was able to find you on YT. Loved your shameful sequels
How ironic that everybody leaves on the sites 10th anniversary.
You and Erod are the only contributors that brought me to CA for years on end. Even when the Critic went silent, and wasn't putting out anything interesting I'd always have your content to look forward to. Good luck!
A week on live bees.
Cheers!
"I'm a terrible content producer."
I don't know, you don't throw away fanart that was personally given to you, do you? :P
Good on you, Mike. CA has been declining for years. You will be the very first Patreon I support.
God I hope Brad Jones jumps ship as well. I just hope his ties with Lupa and Linkara are stronger than those to CA.
Damn Brad is still on there? Thought he'd left a while ago
Aw... for what it's worth, if a movie is good to you and means something to you, that's all that matters.
Mrs. Wubbeekins I see a lot of positive stuff on there still.
May i ask what movie it was in particular?
Lindsay's content is better than ever.
We don't ignore you on here Mike, we appreciate you!
