Oohh looking forward to this. I read the book recently but I think rereading is a lot more interesting and even more so to read along with your discussion.
My boys recently saw a movie called the argonuts also called epic tales which is set after Jason and the argonauts. It’s animated and I think originally French
The Birdcage of the Muses by Rolf Strootman is a good read if you want to learn more about the environment that Apollonios would have moved and worked in in Alexandria (it's not about him specifically but discusses the general dynamics of cultural and scholarly patronage at the Ptolemaic royal court). Having read it, I don't find it at all difficult to believe that Apollonios might have had beef with Kallimachos because there seems to have been a lot of competition between writers at the Ptolemaic court in general. Also, the context in which Apollonios would have presented his work would have likely been a royal banquet. So his Argonautica probably didn't just bomb in front of some random audience, it bombed in front of the king and his courtiers, which would have resulted in a pretty big hit to his prestige.

I’m so excited about this new series. I haven’t read this book before so I’m planning to read and watch your videos.
As a professor of Greek philology, I adore your simplicity in exploring my country's history and mythology ❤ Very Stephen Fry-esque 😊
🥹 thank you so much ❤️

Am I old if when she says ‘Avengers,’ I instantly think of Steed and Emma Peel?
