I’m SO happy to see this video; as I’ve followed you both since this summer, where I got back into inline skating. I started out by watching Ricardo Lino’s many great beginner videos, as I had somehow forgotten how to do things like power stop/slide and even my cross-overs were not working like they should. After I finally realized that I was supinating heavily, I changed the skates and immediately had a blast. I then watched a lot of ThisIsSoul’a videos, along with continuing with Ricardo Lino’s videos… And in late autumn, I finally got an excuse for ordering at ThisIsSoul. I was highly impressed with the guidance I got - even a phone call from the man to ensure the ordered items would work for me as desired! Alas… although the order arrived fast, it couldn’t stave off the coming of the Danish winter, which has lasted until now (and will continue to do so for another month or two). Thanks to both of you! Being 44 and getting back into inline skating would’ve been much, much harder without your videos!
I have the TS1s, which came with the old buckle. I upgraded to the new Kizer buckle and even used the new receptor, simply by drilling a new mounting hole. The new receptor fits neatly into the slot in the cuff that the strap goes through, which means it isn't able to spin and twist like the old one. The cuff feels way more secure.
Skating flat with sola frames and metal hub wheels has been the best skatepark experience regarding speed and energy transfer I’ve had. Also grinding metal on metal is its own experience worth having by itself. Shout out Sola Equipment!
What do you mean by the case? But the other thing is the rubber means can’t keep grinding like in say them, where I’d just keep grinding into the boot haha I didn’t quite understand what you two were saying about it being related to it being able to fit on lots of skates
Last I checked the Mesmer shell/ boot sizing has not changed yet the liners in the TS1 and TS2 have been updated to be a more accurate portrayal of what sizing should be/ more true to size. Skate boot UK size and US size rarely align with the actual mm size or actual cm size ( I.E. a skate be listed as a US 8-9 yet have a length of 28.5 cm which would be more consistent with a size US 10-10.5). With the newer Mesmer models If you were to cross reference the MM / IN of the shell with the Liner’s UK/US size ( and mm/in) it will certainly help you determine from a length perspective which size to order.
the shell is the same.. but they did adjutments with the liner.... from the first model...to the second model.. till now..they have always been doing changes on the liner...and. now they also have different size "tags" ...
@@Sac2Bay toe box is “roomier” but more so in a way where for many people the top of the shell no longer is in contact and/or pressing down on the top of your toes / foot.
The heel lift in these were too much for me to even skate. It only helped slightly when I used the back strap from a true 2nd skin liner. The ts1 liner has velcro across the back to accept it. That boot/liner has like 0 heel pocket which made it a no go for me. Went with a updated Sway instead and it was so much better imo.
Mesmer 🖤 What's your opinion on the new plastic vs the PEBAX? I think they had some problems with shell deformation warping the soulplate due to pebax, Mushroom guys talked a bit about it... tho so far on my Bolinos I did not notice it yet. If I had to bet on future products I think Levi's skate is going to be a brownish colored boot and it will be using the new plastic for the shell with a pebax cuff. Had to do some heavy mods to my mesmer's but so far they are the best skate I've ever tried. - Trimming cuff height, v cutting it and v cutting in beetween upper foot eyelets
i think they are not using it on team skates…. i may be wrong but i think i have heard it on a podcast or read it somewhere.. but i may be wrong.. but at the end of the day… i like them jon bolinos and the other two i had.. my biggest concern was to have them in the right sizing and i now know exactly what that is… the Pebax is not something i felt extremely different but im also the guy who does not feel crazy good bearings like some people do.. 🤷🏻♂️
@@RicardoLino I remember reading on instagram that Billy said the team skates use the regular plastic vs the pro model which is part of the cost difference.
Yes they definitely use different plastic, TS1 and TS2 use " the new plastic" "special flex composite material" similar to OG thrones. Supposedly to get manufacturing cost down on team skates. Bolino and Dom skates boot and shell are full PEBAX , Researched a bit into PEBAX and it seemed like a really good approach for agg inline, so I was keen on hearing the differences. But overall glad that the feedback is good. A boot company offering the same boots with different materials is definitely interesting. @@RicardoLino
oh yes, the classic power slide raised heel with anti-Shock pad and the old USD insole that has a shock pad built in 🤣... I understand when they do that on their flat boots but come on now. At the same time it's pretty cool that they do include them because maybe there are people out there that want double shock absorption on a raised heel 🤷 .... by the way, superfeet hockey comfort yellow insoles have a heel cup that provides shock absorption without adding height. I find it perfect for m12s/cults and anything you want shock absorption without changing height.
i don’t dislike the shock absorver but its important that people know the foot will be in a more aggressive forward lean position, which is less stable. 🤷🏻♂️
The heel shockabsorber is to thick. Its was terrible to skate first. I took it out and put a flat gel-sole under the liner and now I love them. They are great for topsides. To avoid wheelbite when riding flat simply put in 58mm.
I don’t feel that. But I believe what they mean is the liners are slimmer. At least I don’t see mold changes (would not be easy… but maybe I’m wrong… I doubt on this but possible)
that was one of the first things we spoke about… they changed the sizing.. mesmer skates used to be 41-42 (which fitted big) , they adjusted the sizing to calling it 42-43.. may seem a simple thing, but it turned these skates into a true to size skate.
@@RicardoLino Wow thank you for replying! Do you have any recommendations for quadroller grind blocks? The ones from Bont and Chaya are really expensive!
we spoke about several sizing things… from the size chart adjustment, to the slim liner… if we didn’t speak about mold changes in the toe are is because none of us believe they happened .. they fhey are now true to size in my opinion.
not that i am aware.. their sizing its 37-38 / 39-40 / 41-42/ 43-44 ... and they are true to size in my opinion, but the size son the Mesmer now are not like this...they are 40-41 / 42-43 ....
@@RicardoLino I had it off a bit. They switched the 9-10 to a 10-10.5 and the 7-8 to an 8-9. But yeah, this happened before the Aeon Basic and the Aeon XIX.
@@Thisissoul They have not, atleast not in the USA. There didn't used to be a 10-10.5. The 9-10 become a 10-10.5. I've found that the boot is quite inflexible (lateral flex) - is that just me? I'm used to skating and Aeon. Maybe they will be become more flexible with use as I've only worn them a handful of times. Anyone else have this experience?
