This was an excellent video. Well done. This takes me back to 1972/73 when I was a bus conductor at Bromley Garage (TB) working the 119 route, operated by RT buses. In those days, the 119 ran to/from Bromley North - West Croydon, extended to/from Thornton Heath Garage (TH) via Reeves Corner/Purley Way industrial estate peak hours. Saturdays it was 119A which used to run through to Thornton Heath High Street from West Croydon, Sundays was 119B, where from Bromley North towards Thornton Heath High Street, it went off route at Monks Orchard to 8 Shrublands Estate following the 194 route, back to line of route at Shirley Library. We used to hate having to stop at the bus stop at the bottom of Cork Screw Hill, more so if you had a full load and a bus that couldn’t pull the skin off a rice pudding. Many a time we had to ask the passengers to alight the bus about 3/4 the way up the hill, just so as we could get the bus to the top of the hill.
Great video. I really enjoyed it as I've used this route hundreds of times and can well recall many of my trips as a kid on the old RT's along this route. Technology has certainly advanced and moved on since then. I see what you mean about the passengers repetition of 'Smooth.' I don't know what is worse him or on a previous trip of mine from East Croydon to Bromley South with a load of screaming noisy schoolgirls. I had a headache by the end of the journey. Thank you for posting this video.
