    Agree 100% on the fractional gold. I do buy the 1/10 right now, just to reach my goal of an ounce of them. Usually I buy the fractional bars. I always buy them in assay. Little more cost, but that is assuring to a potential buyer. 1 gram up to 5 gram is what I buy. The bigger gold is for opportunity in a SHTF scenario. I live in a rural area in the deep south, during the depression, families here that had money bought land for $1 an acre. Timberland, farm land, they bought all they could. Wealth is achieved through opportunity. I remember my Boy Scout motto; Be Prepared.

    I started by DCAing into 1/10th oz. I know I’m paying a premium but for me it just meant I’d actually buy the gold rather than try to save and then maybe spend it on other stuff. It is working and I’m accumulating.

    I'd personally buy a 1/10th Britannia. But any 1/10oz in the hand is better than a full ounce at the LCS. Who the heck knows what 6 months down the line will look like. It's not like you won't get the premium back on the 1/10th oz later.

  • @veritasfiles
    @veritasfiles 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Yeah, this can be a hard question to address. It does depend somewhat on the person and definitely on the purpose for the Gold. In my case, I'm buying it specifically for a currency crisis and possible collapse scenario with a secondary supplemental retirement purpose. If you are just starting out, I would recommend that you buy fractional first. Reasons? Well, your universe of possible buyers goes up with the smaller increment you have of either Gold or Silver, so that they are actually MORE LIQUID than a 1 ounce piece would be. Also, they fractionals are more affordable, and in a society where transferring your wealth/purchasing power into REAL MONEY or SOUND MONEY is both frowned upon and laughed, it can be hard to maintain the strength of your convictions and therefore, your motivation to continue buying. For that reason, you want to establish some real momentum in Gold until you get a fair amount under your belt. Again, depending upon the dispositions of the person and the purposes for which they are buying the Gold, the content of what I'm going to say next can be very different. You need to decide how much you're going to buy of a particular fraction before you move on to something larger. So you might choose 1 ounce or maybe as much as even 10 ounces of Gold in a 1/10th ounce form. Once you reach that goal, you should move on to a 1/4th ounce variety and purchase a similar weight of Gold in that size as well. You might even want to double the weight that you buy in Gold, as you go up in scale, but you want to make sure that you are maintaining that momentum. Eventually, this will take you to buying 1 ounce coins, but you definitely want to have your fractionals in place first. Good video!

      Totally agree. I’m a newer stacker. Have almost as much silver as I want, will still buy some, but am now putting my focus towards gold, starting with the 1/10.

  • @frostfire5208
    @frostfire5208 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Late to the party but here's my take. It's good to have some fractionals to "make change". Just think if you are a storekeep and you are exchanging money and making change. Having some 1/10 1/4 1/2 is good to sell for small amounts, or, God forbid, barter with. However, as you accumulate your stack, the cost, convenience and all that - best to go with 1 ouncers once you get started seriously stacking. Keep an eye on Sovereigns and Roosters - they're not even fractionals but they can sometimes have a cheaper premium depending on when you look.

    I like the 1/5 oz. Barbados gold coin. That's as low as I go, unless someone wants to give me smaller (hint, hint...). I let my daughter use a 1/2 gram from Monarch when she plays dolls, so it looks like Ken is rico suave when he's out with Barbie. If I'm buying bars, I like Argor Heraeus bars in 1/4 oz. or 5 grams and up (usually Valcambi or Perth). Funny hearing you talk liquidity: I lived in NYC in the '70s & '80s and would buy silver at Deak Perera by Grand Central Terminal when I got paid... since I got paid every 2 weeks, I'd be selling it back 2 days before payday to eat. They had limits on price movements back then; 5 cents either way was seismic. I do have a gold 1/4 oz. Eagle that I paid $160 for... that's all that I have left of the early stuff. I got back in hot & heavy in '89. Now I stack gold & platinum. I buy junior miners and royalty streaming companies. And I keep my concealed carry permit up-to-date. I'm in a sane state.

    I do not own any gold at this point. I've just reached my 500 oz. goal for silver. I'm going to evaluate, with my wife, as to what we are going to do next, whether more silver, or gold for 2022. In my opinion, 1/10 oz. gold is too small (I'm afraid I'd misplace or overlook it! lol) Right now I'm thinking more sovereign silver coins because of the high upside for silver.70 to 80 to 1 silver to gold makes silver a better deal. Having said that, I just started stacking silver when the ASE Type 2's came out, after thinking about it for a couple of months. Buy them BOTH! Go mow some lawns, shovel walkways, get a second job, save your dinero, and do whatever you gotta do to buy gold! FONHE v. FOMO. Doesn't have the same ring to it, gotta be honest. I have a lot of 1/10, 1/4, 1/2 and full ounces. Unsurprisingly, I can trade 10 1/10 oz. AGEs for a full 1 oz AGE, but I cannot trade a 1 oz AGE for 10 1/10 oz AGEs. Nobody will do that. Those premiums are killers. I think I've spent $225 on the tenths before, but that's about as much as I have ever paid. Yes! Liquidity is key! 100% agree on that. Funny convo on the size of the tenths. My eyesight isn't what it used to be, so my loupe is my best friend, particularly when trying to see the doggone dates! Have a good one!

    I'm working on a roll of 1/10 oz American eagles I know the premiums higher however we all know the price of gold is going to go up and that will take away the premium. I look at the $1/10 like constitutional silver and if there's trouble it's easy to sell a 1/10 ounce than it is to try to break up a whole 1 oz coin giving me more options if trouble hits. What do you think?

    Second video of yours I watched, first one was why stack fractional, great information well presented like and subscribed! Really one of the questions You have to ask yourself is what can I comfortably afford? and is it worth having one big coin, which to many is a lot of money or consistent small purchases? Personally I’ve only been stacking for a couple years but I think it’s best to have a diverse size stack.

      Depends on your budget. Definitely buy at your own pace and if your own pace is 1/10 a month, then do that. You'll just pay a bigger premium than the larger sizes, and if you live in a state with a threshold tax, it will cost even more buying the small stuff.

      Sorry I never saw your question. Some bigger bullion like Apmex has backdated coins but not a large amount. This is because it costs more to hang onto product year after year. Also product sells out year after year, there is only so many minted. If they have anything remaining going back three years, it's because they have a hard time selling it.

  • @FinnSwede906

    I don't see much incentive in buying 1/10 oz gold or platinum as I don't have a large budget for my own pm (especially this time of year) so I've been buying grams of platinum for about $46 and have been eyeing grams of gold for $70. My logic is an ASE is $35 or more so $10 more for platinum is more appealing and 2 ASE would be $70 or more so might as well get gold. I did buy a 1/4 troy pound of 90% silver today however as the price was right.

    • @FinnSwede906
      @FinnSwede906 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just heard your "Don't buy gram's!" Toward the end lol, if my math is correct I could theoretically stack an ozt of platinum for $1350 and an ozt of gold for $2100, for 31 theoretical transactions per ozt that seems fair.

    If a person has little or no financial discipline, then it may be a good idea to buy the 1/10oz AGE's, instead of taking a chance on spending their money on other things. If they have self-discipline, then it may be better to save and buy the 1-ounce AGE.
    Personally, I have 1 tube of 1/10oz AGE's (50 coins)
    I paid anywhere from $180 to $225 for each coin. (Which is about a $380 per ounce premium. So basically, I could have an extra 1 ounce of gold in my stack if I had just gone with the 1-ounce coins.
    There is no real advantage to having 1/10oz coins, other than being able to sell less than an ounce at a time. - However, I would suggest that if you do not have a cash reserve, and you needed to sell 2 or 3 of your 1/1o ounce coins to cover an emergency, then you are stacking the wrong thing to start with. You should probably be stacking silver if you have no emergency fund.
    Gold is for the long-haul.... When you buy gold, that should be your 20 plus year savings account in my opinion.

    The other struggle is I have different sizes of silver between a 1oz and a 2oz in a round air tight capsule and trying to put it in a plastic tube and a 39mm or 40mm size won't fit what other size will fit for what I need to do?

      No since you paid more premium for the fractional,you will lose trading up. And everywhere pays you a higher premium for fractional when you sell. Look on eBay and see how you would get your money back even buying the fractional...and then don't use ebay go on insta or something where you can sell without those enormous fees. Because if you were willing to trade,everyone would want your fractional for their full oz price.
