As the joke goes: "Restless Cottage is a house." There are control decks that literally just lose to you slapping them with a 4/4 manland five times because their removal is all sorcery speed, and the incidental graveyard hate ruins others.
11:45 it is with my very own personal experience that I can say with full confidence that they never just have a land here, but, in fact, a Play with Fire. Every. Single. Time.
I love how vocal you are at explaining what you are doing. It is good for learning, and it helps when I want to watch mtg, but can only occasionally look at the screen. Thanks for all the great videos.
Your technical plays are amazing. The way you do everything at the last minute is just so indicative that you know your shit and trust yourself 100% I make so many mistakes!
At least a copy of Mirrex should be sound, I think Edit: I found difficult to find the Fights, so I cut a Stash, an Irencrag, a Spite and a Mountainn for another Vault and three Commune with the Spirits, key to find the FFs And also swapped a Mountain for a Mirrex, more artifact generators are welcomed
of course Food Fight was the most frequent rare I opened and saw wheeled in drafts, so I'm happy to see you this build so I can try to get some use out of those shitty draft pulls
The accidental collector's vault sac in match 2 was such BS on arena's part, didn't even hover over it and clearly clicked on mindstone + weakstone, still an easy W tho 8)
9:34 opponent could wait until end of turn to see if you will sacrifice food with your treasures to have play with fire as a response. At worst nothing would change
Looks like a mtga bug caused you to sac the collector's vault by mistake in game 2, you clearly clicked on the Mightstone, but then the prompt that popped up was for the vault.
Have you tested this? Since the Exile clause is separate from the activation I would think it only happens once, unlike cards like Raging Ravine which could get multiple counters (since there it's part of the activation).
Can you make a deck out of the Danitha, Benalia's Hope/Relic of Legends/Necrogen Communion combo for unlimited sacrifice for Fleshtaker/Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim/Wicked Visitor...
It's a mix of Treasure tokens and Food tokens, so we're not getting as much mana as I would like from it. Stash also wants us to have lots of lands in play, so better to ramp the old fashioned way I think.
How is this deck not playing Hall of Tagsin? It can filter to black to activate the manlands, makes artifacts and eventually covers it's own activations with Powerstones that it's made.
Could try one copy, but the deck has quite a few manasinks already. Filtering mana at an increased cost is nowhere near as good as having the right color to begin with. Since we end up sacrificing our artifacts we're unlikely to get to a point where the powerstones pay for themselves.
Yeah, I don't think I'd consider more than a single copy, just seemed like a decent value engine when the hand peters out and the manlands haven't shown up. Although, I guess if you have a Food Fight you almost always have something to use your mana on.
In match 5 you could've sacked a vault to deal two damage to play around epicure. You still had an untapped land and a treasure to use. Would that have been an option?
Are you going to do a review on the universe beyond doctor who set? I expect not since it won’t be standard legal, but I think I would really like the video.
21:30 why did you have to sacrifice mightstone and weakstone? Couldn’t you attack and sac a food token like in the previous turn? Edit: actually you sacrificed collector’s vault but again you could have generated a food and used it before blocks
If our plan is to exile Glissa, then we would have to destroy it before we get a Food token since we need to select a target as soon as the ability goes on the stack. I did end up changing my mind on what to exile, so could've indeed kept Mightstone around.
Because he wanted to exile glissa and another creature with his two cottages. But if you literally just watched 30 more seconds you could have found out.
@@LegenVD ah I’m sorry, that’s what I get for multitasking- had no idea you were hoping to exile glissa with that attack! Thanks for the reply and great video :) love the deck!
Unnecessary idea ahead. Please ignore (On the idea side, could this be ran with a splash of white instead of black for Kalix? Sure it adds the vulnerability of a creature, but being able to create copies of Food Fight or other enchantments perhaps could be worth it.)
The only trigger for Calix would be Calix himself, so you'd either need ways to make Calix bigger, or enough removal to make sure he pulls through. Certainly not worth splashing in a fourth color. The deck has exactly two enchantments. One of them has absolutely no purpose when duplicated (bootlegger's).
@@Xgya2000 I didn't mean it as splashing a fourth color as much as splashing white INSTEAD of black. But I see what you mean and stand corrected. Thank you for the information

Spiteful Banditry's treasure only triggers once per turn, and even if it didn't, you'd still need your opponent's creatures to be weak enough to die to Food Fight, and also your opponents to have some kind of trigger that gives them a new creature whenever one of theirs dies, and also to have an infinite source of mana to use Food Fight's activated ability
@@bakarogers7146 yep, but it turns a card thats already insanely good into infinite removal. And if they aren't playing creatures that die to Food Fight in alchemy, they aren't playing bowmaster + nazgul and they're probably losing anyway.
@@MetalHev 1. I admit I was skeptical whether splashing black just for Restless Cottage was worth it. First game immediately proved me wrong.
And then all the other games as well. Guess that's why it's the MVC

nice having you trying the underrated cards in the set, as aways :)

FYI you can activate cottage twice to get double triggers, comes in handy when you have a ton of mana and nothing else to do with it
Have you tested this? Since the Exile clause is separate from the activation I would think it only happens once, unlike cards like Raging Ravine which could get multiple counters (since there it's part of the activation).
No, Restless Cottage only exiles and feeds once when it attacks. It does this even if it's a creature from Brave the Wilds.
This was more of a mono restless cottage deck, than anything else 😂
You’re the only TH-camr I don’t get tired of watching halfway through, the deck was awesome to watch, good job! 🫡
Glad you enjoy it!

I thought you would go the Naya enchantments route with Calix to make a bunch of copies of it. This is fun too
