WATCH MORE - There have been countless interpretations of Diana's story over the years. So who is Diana according to The Crown? Here's our TAKE: th-cam.com/video/joWLdcUuHbQ/w-d-xo.html
Please fact check your video. Public school in the UK doesn't mean a school that is free and government owned that any normal or poor children go to, that's called state school. Both the boys went to public school which in UK means the public can't go to these, they are funded privately by the public who attend these schools, both prince's went to exclusive elite public schools which the likes of most UK prime ministers and elites from rich families went to. They both never mixed with commoners in government owned schools. Diana would not have had that type of say in the matter of the education of the future king. Also, Diana was of aristocratic and did not have the upbringing and education of a commoner. Big clue, the prince's school uniform with the cap, blazer and boy shorts is not what government owned schools had. They either had no uniform, or basic trousers and sweatshirts keep the costs down for poor parents. That kind of uniform is only seen in either private or public schools in the UK. Both fee paying and elitist. Please can you edit your video and fact check.
I’m old enough to remember Diana from the engagement announcement onward. She was so famous, beyond anyone else. And some people were scandalized that she visited aids patients and treated them like humans-it was very radical at the time! Her kindness won many hearts. She was truly “the people’s princess “!
You’ve misunderstood what public school is in the uk. Public here means private school. The boys went to Eton, one of the most exclusive fee-paying schools in the country.
@@--julian_ very good question! They were public in the sense that they weren’t linked to a church or guild. So any boy (and it used to be only boy) could join as long as they could pay the fees. They’re also not meant to be run for profit.
And William was very clever and Harry failed in almost every subject even art the teachers had to fix it. The story of Diana was a bit one sided no mention of the police having to stop her calling a man’s home over 400 times she was not concerned about if the man she was involved with was married or not there is a great deal more about her that British people know I notice the person telling us has an American voice? This story has been told many times time for Diana to RIP on her island with her family.
She was so kind and so compassionate. She had the special ability to made everyone felt seen. Her ability to connect with people is what made her so beloved even today.
7:18 you do realise that “Public School” in this context meant very very exclusive private school? In the UK (well actually in England) schools run by the state are called State Schools and private schools are called Public Schools and Private Schools. The reason is that in the past the only people allowed to be educated were the clergy and so “Public” Schools were a new type of school that any member of the public was allowed to attend, for a fee. William and Harry attended two of the most exclusive, and expensive, Public Schools in the UK. One of those schools was Eton, a school known for educating several Prime Ministers including Boris Johnson and David Cameron.
Yeah honestly that’s a pretty egregious oversight. Superficially it seems like a small thing, but it’s a massive difference and it totally reverses the entire point it’s trying to make. They went to the most elite of the elite schools and were raised as royalty - and yeah here and there they had a few “normal” experiences as photo-ops. Diana was a shrewd and skilled manipulator of PR who very deliberately cultivated an image and the hagiographies rarely acknowledge this.
@@--julian_ Britain is a very old country. When the term was invented it made perfect sense. These schools only keep using the term because it marks them out for their advanced age and for prestige. Which makes the video hilarious. Sending her children to Eton showed Diana was truly the daughter of an Earl and the wife of the the Prince of Wales. It could be seen as a mark against her frankly because those that go to Eton are seen as entitled.
I remember as a child, I was obsessed with princesses and to me she was a REAL princess brought to life. I remember I was still small when she passed and being so devastated by her death. It's amazing how her compassion and kindness still permeates people's memories this day. ✨💕🕯
Harry and William never went to public school in the sense that you'd think. In the UK, state school is what you'd call public school. Whereas 'public school' in the UK is a super elite private school (think Eton) that is not run for profit hence the title 'public'. We also have fee paying schools which are referred to as private, but just know that when people say public school in the UK they just mean an extremely exclusive, expensive private school where all the kids of aristocrats, royals and mega rich go.

I agree that 19-33 is a very big age gap so I would warn anyone before "blessing" the relationship but keep in mind that while in USA you become an adult at 21, in UK and most of Europe you're an adult at 18: at 18 you have the same legal rights and duties you will have at 20 or 30 so getting in a relationship with someone older at 19yo is seen differently in UK compared to USA
@@areswalker5647 It’s a very valid point. It’s also important that the legal age for having sex is around 15 in most European countries. It’s a horrible thing that Charles didn’t love Diana but the cheating from even before their marriage is even more heartbreaking.
Something I learned, a long time ago, is the normalcy of aristocratic women taking ordinary jobs. For instance, in Princess Diana's case, she had a trust fund, but she actually did odd jobs that would be considered less than glamorous. This is because women from aristocratic families were just biding their time until they married into another noble family and gained a title from their husbands. In other words, they were just working odd jobs NOT due to financial reasons, but just to keep their minds active until it was time to marry well. It's definitely an interesting cultural phenomenon b/c here in the US the likelihood of someone coming from an old-monied family being paid to clean toilets, or other low paying jobs isn't typically the norm. Thanks, for this video! :)

Idk, the bit about "he was dating her sister, and she dumped him, so he went for her instead" was like a huge red flag for me that this was not gonna be a great relationship for her. That's just seems like super sketchy behavior on Charles' part.
Charles did not go for Diana after Charles dumped her sister Sarah! It was Charles who ended that relationship because Sarah had spoken to the Media. Against Royal Protocol! It was the Maternal Grandmothers who put Diana forward as a prospective bride for Charles when she was 19. Because she was a virgin! There was enormous pressure on Charles to marry from his family but also the population of the UK! He thought that he and Diana could be compatible enough after a few dates. But clearly they were not at all compatible and the marriage was a abject failure for both of them!
Public school is only public in contrast to being educated at home by private tutors. It is for the aristocracy and the old money. Those of lower classes had problems being admitted even if they were very wealthy. The nouveau riche were no higher in the class system than tradesmen. Charles did not "forget" to kiss the bride. That had no place in church weddings and is an American tradition. Only 3 couples have kissed on the balcony Charles & Diana, Andrew & Sarah and William and Catherine.
As a woman I blame Diana’s parents. Charles was WAAY too old for her and known around the palace (where her grandma worked) to still be in love with Camila yet no one objected to the slightest with the marriage. Of course she was over the moon about Charles, he was a prince and he was “in love with her” ANY WOMAN would do the same specially a young, impressionable woman. I am sure she loved him, I’m sure she was in love but I can’t stop but blame her family who was not able to warn her, to advice her, to stand by her and to protect her because at the end of the day the royal family will protect each other and their image as an institution and everyone knows that
@@carolround4156 that’s exactly what I’m thinking !! How the hell would I not tell my baby sister “sis, he dated me, don’t do it because xyz” or her grandma or anyone in her family like wtf. She was happy a price and a future king wanted to marry her, she was in love like any teen would be if they got that attention, it’s every girls dream (almost)! Her family literally has blood on their hands because instead of advising her to live her life, enjoy her young years and be herself they encouraged a toxic marriage (they knew it was toxic from point 0)
@@CA-qw7qk dont talk absolute rubbish. Diana wanted to marry Charles, even if her family had dissuaded her she would have refused to listen. Its not the Spencers fault that she could not handle the marriag
@@glen7318 but that’s not fair at all towards her. She was literally a kid, a teenager who was impressed with the glitz and glamour of it all. If her family especially her sister who dated Charles and knew the ins and outs of the royals would have warned her, explained to her the huge implications and challenges maybe she would have changed her mind. She didn’t strike people as a rebel child who would wanna prove her parents wrong. I can’t blame Diana she was a teen caught up in the insanity of the press and royal family. She had to mature in that toxic environment and didn’t have a fair change at a normal adult life.
I guess it is the anniversary of her death. I remember I was a little kid and hearing the news on TV then I ran thru my house to find my parents and tell them that a princess had died.
That's disappointing. This channel has been around for a bit, and gotten popular and profitable enough that I assume they could get some help with that yknow
Manipulative, probably borderline personality disorder. She used to tip off the press about where she'd be, then complain about the intrusion of the press. Would threaten self harm (or throw herself down stairs) if she didn't get her way. She achieved amazing things in her life but she was a very difficult person and no angel
She had severe emotional issues but I don’t think right off the bat it’s fair to assume she had a personality disorder when so many bigger people in her place would have fared far worse.
@@carolround4156 I've seen a couple comments like this you've made on this video now, and I wonder - why do you have enough dislike for her that you've made multiple comments about it? I'm genuinely curious. I'm not a super fan of hers but I do wonder what she did that offended you so much
Wow that was harsh.. "charles had no interest in easing Diana into her role?" he most certainly did. She was provided with lots of support to teach her what was expected plus her own grandmother was a lady in waiting to the Queen. Diana knew what was expected of her.. if she's calling the queen aunt she's close enough to know how to behave. I'm not sure that she didn't put herself above people, but she was charismatic and grew up in a home where servants were probably the only people she could have a conversation with (or her family) she also was not very bright academically so her passion was the children (and child development)..s o yes she was fresh and new. if you listen to her speak.. you can see where MM is trying to copy her. BARF.
@@Celticmist-qz6ve that might be the case.. emotionally needy with unrealistic expectations and demands .. normal for a person her age I suppose. Lack of maturity.

LADY DIANA HAD BEEN LOYALTY AND BRAVE... BUT IT'S NOT FAIR HER HUSBAND LEFT HER AS SHE WAS A UNIQUE LADY AND HE LET ANY BODY ATTENTION HER AS SHE WAS YOUNG AND WONDERFUL LADY . AS A HUSBAND HE DIDN'T KEEP PROMISE AND WAS NOT A GOOD HUSBAND ... BUT SHE HAD BEEN LOYALTY EVEN FOR A FEW YEARS TILL SHE LEFT THE PALACE.. SHE WAS A BRAVE LADY..
This was wonderful to watch on the anniversary of her death. Incidentally, a lot of what Diana had to say about the future of Charles' kingship seems to be coming true, and Camilla doesn't look like she wants to be in the position she is now in. I know when he was getting coronated, AI images of what Diana would look like if she was Queen appeared up, but that marriage was bound for divorce, because Charles was intentionally neglectful. I don't like the current crop of Charles apologists blaming her mental health struggles as Charles did during their marriage, separation, and divorce when she isn't there to speak for herself. I don't like how Charles apologists blame her for the arranged marriage as Charles did as they were married, and say she cheated first. A person doesn't cheat on their spouse without an emotional reason. Charles already stepped out with Camilla and other women. Diana only did so when Charles was neglectful, which was common. Now Charles is dealing with the legacy of his bad decisions as he repeats that history with his son Harry and his daughter-in-law Meghan. Also with William and Kate, to be honest. Kate wearing Diana's earrings at Charles' coronation was definitely a flag for something is fishy in the bread pudding. Anyway, I hope Diana's complex and beautiful legacy haunts Charles forever. I hope Diana continues to watch out for her loved ones from where she is.
Exactly. He was the root of a lot of her depression, eating disorders and mental issues. Knowing how much it hurts to love someone with all your heart and soul only to find that their love for you is miniscule in comparison is absolutely heartbreaking and would send anyone into a depression. We just react differently towards it.
@@YmustTh3w0rldG0r0und Diana was damaged by her parents dreadful marriage and her mother having to leave her children. Her maternal grandmother testified against her own daughter so that the children could stay with their father. The same grandmother who colluded with the Queen’s mother to get Charles and Diana married. A real old aristocratic snob, just wanted Diana to be married to Charles, no matter how incompatible they were.
Princess Diana with her style, education and beauty, with her kindness, would have been a real Royal Queen. We still feel like we lost a precious Woman. No one may ever replace her in our ❤.
Same old, same old. I listened to this several times because I kept thinking I must have missed something - because I understood from the title of this video that it had, if not new information, at least the old story presented with things juxtaposed in a new way, or some new understandings of Diana. But no: it was same old same. It was tired. It was in error at points. For example, Charles did not go straight from dating Diana's sister to dating Diana. There were years in between those two things. This was just poorly done.
People living in Devon the same village as James Hewitt's mother Shirley said that James and Diana would meet at Shirley's cottage well before Diana fell pregnant with horrid Harry. James also confided with his close friend that his affair with Diana had started before she fell pregnant with Prince Hairplugs. Diana was also seeing Henry Herbert the Earl of Pembroke at the same time.
@@Howz_That I'm sure Charles isn't without fault, but honestly, my sense is he's a decent sort and he had to put up with a lot where Diana was concerned. And he has staunchly stood by 'both" his sons all these years.
See, we leave the world but the effect of our actions is what remains of us behind. Love Diana's strength for surviving all the hardships. I guess Camilla had pretty big shoes to fill which she couldn't so now she's just a shade 😄
Your Royal videos are really turning me off the channel. A lot of it is gossip or speculation or straight up inaccurate. You also have a clear bias. Really wish you'd stick to the fictional and leave the gossip to the tabloids.
Agreed. That race they showed Diana winning? Charles was there too and ran with the Dads. Diana was not a child when she pushed her step mother down the stairs. Plenty of royal women didnt wear gloves, Princess Anne to start. It wasnt in fashion. Diana did a lot of good work but she wasnt a saint. And all of this information is very public.

Diana not passing her O level tests is kind of hilarious. And I often think Charles preferred Camilla because she’s so intelligent. While Diana was kind, warm and thoughtful, she wasn’t the brightest.
Diana was also, much younger. And she never had the opportunity to properly grow up . Camilla was intelligent, sure . It needs some intelligence to cheat on your husband, keep it under the wraps , then marrying the affair against the wishes of his family and becoming the queen .
This video clearly shows just how misunderstood she still is. This is based on the interview with Bashir and she was lied to and given false information about the royal family. So her words and perspective about the family and marriage were not honest to say the least.
Come on. Your research on this subject is disappointing to say the least. Everyone knows Willian and Harry went to some of the most privileged and expensive schools in the world. Just look at their uniforms, you know they’re not cheap and you thikg because it’s call public, they went to normal schools? Please, get better researchers, this is pathetic.
No, it's not true. You can be tall and be a ballerina. But it's a hindrance so you need to be really really good because it limits the "normal" pool of both parts and dance partners. In the same line models can be short but either it changes the type of jobs you get (catwalk vs catalogs) or you need a particular look (think Twiggy or Kate Moss) to overcome the stereotype.

Parts of the story you didn't know? 😂 Like she wanted to marry a prince... ANY prince and she was after Andrew when she found she could be Queen since Charles showed interest? Diana didn't even care about Charles. Charles happily says: "We are in love." Diana: "Uhhh (pause) Ohhh of course we are." (Said with ZERO enthusiasm) I'm glad he has Camilla.

I don't know how Diana could overlook that he knew her sister first and I do mean that in the Biblical sense
Real Queen Of England.
I would watch any Diana video
I am sure she loved him, I’m sure she was in love but I can’t stop but blame her family who was not able to warn her, to advice her, to stand by her and to protect her because at the end of the day the royal family will protect each other and their image as an institution and everyone knows that
I agree. Charles dated one of her sisters for a while. She should have advised her not to marry
@@CA-qw7qk Diana knew that her older sister Sarah had dated Charles!

Harry def has her rebellious attitude. WIlliam got the looks and outward grace
Well, they both were very handsome. I'd says they are still good looking.
I guess it is the anniversary of her death. I remember I was a little kid and hearing the news on TV then I ran thru my house to find my parents and tell them that a princess had died.
There are quite a few mistakes in this video. It would help to do some research before uploading future videos.
That's disappointing. This channel has been around for a bit, and gotten popular and profitable enough that I assume they could get some help with that yknow
I was 10 when Diana and Charles married. It was so sad to see how her life went.
Shes so inspirational 🥺
She was for anarectics
Manipulative, probably borderline personality disorder. She used to tip off the press about where she'd be, then complain about the intrusion of the press. Would threaten self harm (or throw herself down stairs) if she didn't get her way. She achieved amazing things in her life but she was a very difficult person and no angel
She had severe emotional issues but I don’t think right off the bat it’s fair to assume she had a personality disorder when so many bigger people in her place would have fared far worse.

@@silver4831 do you mean like literal bastard or do you mean it figuratively, I can't tell
@alim.9801 Literally, he looks nothing like Charles and like the horse guard James Hewitt.

Right on with what you have said
Princess Diana with her style, education and beauty, with her kindness, would have been a real Royal Queen.

In a modern Christian wedding they would and that's the majority of Christians.
10:50 The Panorama Interview is a while other story on its own.
This was a god video, however there was nothing here the public didn't already know.
Title so misleading. This was just a regular biography
She was an icon that threatened the traditions of the monarch. A soul taken to soon😢
Ah, so she was SO "depressed" - loving Charles as much as she did - that she needed to see TWO men ... ?
@@Howz_That I'm sure Charles isn't without fault, but honestly, my sense is he's a decent sort and he had to put up with a lot where Diana was concerned. And he has staunchly stood by 'both" his sons all these years.

No, it's not true. You can be tall and be a ballerina. But it's a hindrance so you need to be really really good because it limits the "normal" pool of both parts and dance partners.
