I jumped in and made 8 denim quilts for Christmas for my grandkids. I made every one different. They are by no means perfect. But they were made with love and hopefully will last a long while. I used old jeans and clothes from my kids and myself. I visited a local thrift store for many pieces. They even called me when they had a denim fabric donation. I still have enough left over to make a few more. It was a lot of work, but it was kind of fun to design them ( with help from Pinterest and TH-cam). Love your quilt!
I've been saving jeans to make a denim quilt and I have some of my dad's old flannel shirts that I'm planning to use with the denim. Seeing your denim quilt has made me even more excited about making it.
Hello. I've never made a denim quilt before and ready to cut up old Jean's. I came across your video and was impressed at your humbleness about your first denim quilt. I subscribed. Thank you😊
Hello! I hope you had a great day! I had a very busy but fun filled day in my sewing room ironing more fabrics and now I get to hand quilt. Thank you for posting your video.
I used to have a bolt of the patchwork bandana print that you’ve used for your quilt backing. I made many items with that fabric. I wish I could find that fabric so I could purchase more to add to a jeans quilt!
I wonder if you could find it on ebay or just by doing a Google search. I made that quilt 25+ years ago and have no idea what it is called. I wish I could be more help.
I'm planning to make 3 quilts with jeans for my daughter's and I. The jeans are predominately from their father with a few of mine thrown in. the other fabric will come from his cotton shirts. I thought this will be a nice way to remember him and keep a bit of him with them.
that will be wonderful. a keepsake and a memory quilt all in one. I'm sure the fact that it was hand made by you will also give it an added special meaning.
Love this jean quilt! I've been searching for a good pattern and color idea for years. I'm wondering how big your squares are? I'm guessing bigger than 6" X 6" because the squares look bigger than your hand does in the video.
Thank you for commenting. The squares are 10x10, but were cut by hand because I didn't have a clue about rotary cutters. The bigger blocks are easier and you have have zippers and pockets!
I love your quilt- how many 10” squares length and width?! My first one was 8.5” squares with the double seam on the diagonal, no batting, backing of chambray so it was all cotton. That was before jeans had stretch and I didn’t know about rotary cutters either. It was 9x7 squares and I just tied front to back with cotton floss. To me it is a perfect year round cover….
Lol! I am cutting up jeans as I watch your video. I’ve were going through old totes and I found five huge totes full of jeans I saved from the eighties. My kids osh by gosh jeans , mine and my husbands old jans. I have a ton to cut out.
Did you have to stabilize the denim for stretch issues or cotton fabric to make it thicker? My denim sadly has stretch so I’m worried about making a quilt like this. Yours is sweet!

It is beautiful. Who cares about the corners not matching. Perfection is over-rated.
thank you
