I don’t always stay for the “musical interlude”, but I did for this one! Little Richard is also one of my favs. In fact, “Long Tall Sally” is one of my favorite songs of all time. My dad rented “Predator” (1987) on VHS cassette way back in the day, and the song featured during a scene in that movie. It may have been the first time I heard it, or at least payed enough attention to know it was Little Richard.
Appreciate you investing your cash to review this shoe 🙏🏾. I’ll now save my money. Feels like a lifestyle shoe for those in the ‘don’t know’. Nike really needs to be sending you free shoes these days 🙌🏽
I can't believe they made the air unit visible from the bottom through the outsole! The risk of bursting it is really important! It really is a (pricy) lifestyle shoes I guess. (your 2.5/3 for value seems over the top to me Edd!)
@@EDDBUD Way back in the day I used to buy running shoes with air units; they’d typical burst a few months in making the shoe ineffective and emitting an annoying popping sound when I tried to salvage them as walking shoes. Since then, no air zoom for me. Just like I won’t buy shoes like On that have spindly lace loops - once they bust, the entire shoe is over, as you have pointed out. And they’re entirely unnecessary.
Exposed air zoom always look super cool we don't get that enough in running shoe. Also i appreciate the extra details on the upper which makes the shoe feels more premium as we already have too many flimsy upper shoes. Some variations in the market is welcomed
I was able to pick it up prior to launch. Some of these stores make mistakes and post shoes too soon. Anyway, this shoe is premium. The material and tech used is high quality. The ride is nice, but the zoom fly 6 is better. Long story short, I'm using this for casual use. It's a cool shoe, that you could run, but it's more of a luxury buy for a collection.
@@thomasbraun6603 Well said. Not unlike an On shoe, except an On shoe you’d actually use and this one, like you say, is part of a collection, and goes on a shelf.
190 quid for that shoe? Holy cow, fella! I hope that this video helps recoup some of that dosh 😉 A tenner off £200 for an easy run/daily shoe? Hardly sits in the bargain category, let alone the banger category.
Ed thank you for your sacrifice 👏. You have the most useful and honest reviews. I fit the build of who I think the shoe will be most effective for, gonna give it go. Thanks again!
Great to see you review it out of pure interest. Interesting that that the premium is so premium in the comfort and upper, surprising in Australia how well it would probably perform for hot feet. However I’d be concerned for the foam and air unit here. Super strange shoe they’ve made, quite pointless all up I think but get, plenty of market for it I guess
Just had my first run in this after a pretty intense 10k yesterday. Midfoot striker, run about 50km a week +/- 10 km. I found the bounce very nice. I didn't notice the weight at all. Quite frankly this may be my new slow recovery run shoe after a hard run. I could see heel strikers having a *really* hard time with this shoe. When I was just walking they felt very unstable, but during runs they were solid landing midfoot. It's too simplistic to suggest that these are a "lifestyle" or "fashion" shoe. I wear Ultraboost 5s most of my daily errands and I would never run in those, but these I certainly would. One thing I was thinking about on the run is that the zoom air unit really "tells" you what your foot strike is moreso than any other shoe.
My feet barely fit in the vomero . It's a petty though cause a very breathable toebox would be great for a "walking to work " shoe in Athens (17 degrees C right now, i don't want to talk about summer)
A brand new Nike silhouette. Keep it fresh and it will probably be worth a few bob in the future. Not sure id ever buy it to run in, but I do think it looks pretty cool 👌
Lol I’ve already commented enough on this video (good for the algorithm I suppose), this shoe reminds me of Nike running shoes I used way back in the 90s. Lots of gimmicks/tech and adornments. Who knows, maybe they streamline it over time and it becomes good…
I don’t think I like this new matrix system with the Nike trainer lines, what with the Peg, Vom, and Structure all going to three tiers of some, more, and most. I mean, it makes sense, but it’s not very appealing as a consumer. And the prices are heading in the wrong direction, even in the US, where we aren’t subjected to the Earth Credit premium across the pond.
I think this is an exclusive lifestyle shoe. I'll take mine in All Black with a red air unit. Walking around dressed in black, looking like a Sith Lord. I think that's it. Vomero 18 looks the revamped division from Nike for me.
I think Nike have scored a big winner with this one. It appeals to the running community that also have a sneaker head interest or have a lifestyle leaning toward their shoes. It's a crossover shoe and hyped accordingly. It might not be a great running shoe but it has appeal. The mens drop sold out in a flash in Australia at the hefty $300 price tag! That is saying something. And that black colourway when it drops will do likewise. It doesn't appeal to me so I agree with your review Edd but I don't think Nike have lost the plot on this one.
Definitely sending mine back... Too narrow for my foot Definitely things they could change to make this shoe better. 1. Wider platform 2. Might just be me, but I hate the Boston 12 style lacing system. Just give normal holes and a thinner tongue and I bet that would drop a bit of weight.

How disappointed would you be if you bought these thinking they were running shoes? Reminds me a little of the Vomero 5 sneaker, which has almost nothing in common with an actual running shoe like the excellent Vomero 16.
These will probably be a popular selling shoe, even though they may not be too practical for daily training, so good to see it reviewed. As for popular selling, some will buy it just because it is a Nike and looks fashionable. I know some people that will even buy a brick if it has a Nike swoosh painted on the side of it.
I would say the trainers are for walking about in town or going down the pub (if you can find one) with a pair of jeans rather than for running, they are nice enough but wouldn't pay almost £200 for them
