I really disliked Dong hau through most of this. He was cold and heartless at best and just plain spiteful at worst. I really wished she'd found love with someone else. I mean she was forced to be a fox or even embroidery on a handkerchief to be next to him. Sorry, that's not love, that's being a doormat to someone who's emotionally abusive.

I agree - emotionally abusive to a ridiculous degree too. I wish she'd ended up with someone else, just like I wished that SuSu (also Bai Quain) ended up with Mo Yuan instead Ye Hua.

In the Pillow Book, he didn't get to know Fengjiu until Episode 24, at Susu's wedding. She got into a fox to be near him, not to avoid being sneered at. The main story in any romance, is to keep a meant-to-be-together couple away as long as possible. For any good romance, there will be things that keep the leading characters apart. If you felt like they should end up with other people, that's the writer's fault. They made the storyline too hard.
