I'm a PlayStation player and I found quite a few channels and started watching their let's play series solo but with mods and I feel like I'm missing an essential piece when I do.... I was also reluctant and I am missing some of the features of the s + mod. but ark has integrated some of the building parts into the game. They have doubled ammo stacks from 50-100 but I am building a safe this week just to hold the hide. I know that 20+ ascendent level rex saddles are going to cost me big and I have kept all I can for the end game so far. Thank you for your kind words @vexing cat

I know I'm 3 years late here, but I love your boat design. I would suggest utilizing that front area in the nose for storage boxes, and Forges. You can nose right up to shore and unload right into them.

thank you for taking the time to watch and if you need a guide to the single-player settings I use on this playthrough I made an update this week that is shorter. also, a fix if you play on p.c and do progress to the next map there's a slite problem getting those same conditions as I explain in that. I do get better at making videos as I go along and hope you get into the game. so cheers jBurn

Wow man, just started a new channel and your quality and mic sound great. That's a nice head start as far as i'm concerned. I started a channel many years ago and my mic and video quality was sub par at best. Crappy headset mic and non true HD recordings haha. Once I got better equipment it definitely changed my perspective. First video I've seen of yours and it was an automatic sub. Looking forward to catching up with your series and keeping up with your content. I may not always comment but I'll be watching. Keep up with this great content man. Great video bro. I just have one little thing to point out. Five minuets before the video was over you said thats all the time i have. Most people would click off at that point, but there was still great content in the last five minuets. Again great video keep it up.
I'm just starting to play this game because I picked it up at Epic games store for cheap. The game is definitely very in-depth but I can't say I have the patience for all of it. Most of the time I'm just roaming cluelessly. Your video does give me a lot of insight as to what I could really do. Really like that fancy raft you had, didn't even know you could build on it.

Pro: Your voice is calm and no rude speech Con: You made very big jumps in the progress without video footages. I will watch your story in ark because I play single player too and I learn from videos. Nowadays I beat the Central and the Lower South Caves, have a big main base at the Redwood Lake, reached level 100, got a lot of tames and breed rexes, but I have to learn more.
It nice to see someone doing a solo play through, I’ve been looking as I don’t get much use from the multiplayer info as I can’t play any multiplayer games since download and upload speed is 1.5mbps on a good day😂

Indeed it is! If you play on an Official Server, and a few others, it is often a problem finding good real estate to start a base of operations build with so much space already claimed and pillars all over the place. A player has to know how to do a good raft build and turn it into a base of operations to craft wanted tools, weapons, and other objects. His raft build is a bit different than what I like to make and I was surprised to see he was able to make the island journey without getting sunk by a huge shark, or Moby the Dick.
@@wastedwatts I just spent HOURS as a first time player learning how to do the ship build, and gathering resources with basic tools. i IMMEDIATELY got dunked on by that assholefish trying to get there
I love ark and watching people play and enjoy ark but it gets difficult to follow or be inspried to carry on especially when you play on console and see all these pc players us mods that makes life so much better, so this series is definitely much appreciated
I hope you noticed he did make a number of changes to the defaults of the game, other than maximum difficulty. I was surprised he tried to harvest a large stone in the water that is meant to be only decoration. He also didn't seem to know stone, or first level tools normally don't harvest metal, but sometimes smooth river rocks will give a few metal. They will give more if there is a holiday event activated.

Yes defo can get done solo, iv watched a few play through series, iv watched your server set up video, I have done the same only I added npc mod just to make things interesting 😂
@@graemepaton3024 I would certainly recommend a better loot mod and some kind of stack mod. I attempted to play without mods so this would perhaps appeal to a wider audience. I've been breeding and imprinting without s+ and it's taking a long time. Without the nanny in s+ you eggs decay so p.c needs to be on all the time and I can't see any way around it without a mod or breaking the mechanics of the game. I have also built lots of large vaults to store hide because of a master craft t rex saddle costs around 10.000 hide. Ark needs to address the stack size of the hide as its so much to craft just 1. But other than that so far it's been possible the last part has been a grind to do without mods but getting there.
So I'm very late for this series but so far I'm absolutely loving it. I'm soloing my way on mobile at the moment and your videos are helping me out so much. As a complete beginner it's very difficult to figure out what to do, so I can't express how thankful I am for this series. Love your content and looking forward to watching more :)
Nice relaxing intro to Ark. Certainly would have helped if I had watched a video like this before I joined an official PvP server, and subsequently quit for years out of frustration. I have to say, I like the rush to a raft base. I've never done it right away, like that. Perhaps next time.

Thank-you @new2golf I will complete the island and I appreciate that. It was only the end of August when I started the channel and its funny to see how the series has progressed since then. I do hope to have part 18 complete before xmas.
I usually build my starter base in that rock area by explorer note 7 so many of those shiny rocks that give a little metal and river rocks below. I make sure I do some leveling with notes and crafting narcotics and at least reach stone tier. I build a raft also and then refine the metal at herbivore island and get an Anky. Then take my taming/refining forge raft to the snow biome and take all of those resources. At this point I am the level to make cryo pods and use them to migrate all my dinos to my new base on the north west of the island where the river meets the redwoods that has that big log tunnel connecting the redwoods to the regular land. A good central hub for resources.
The only three settings that i NEED to be turned up at all times are, resource respawn timers, resource respawn distance from base (im an aesthetics person... i hate having trees and rocks not spawn for 100+ meters) and taming speed. I do not, ever, EVER, want to be waiting days to tame a high level Rex. Hours i could deal with, but DAYS!? nah, fuck that.
*cries in 19 hour Therizino tame on official Servers* Yeah, i feel you. Theres a reason why I only play on Servers that have Taming at least at 3x, if not higher. Same for Ressource Respawns, nothing more annoying than wanting to farm some Metal only to find it all already empty and having to wait 2 hours until they respawn...
@@JustPixelNoIDontWantAnyNumbers its the entire reason that ive only ever played Ark solo in single player with 3-5x rates, or on a server run by the old clan i used to run with in World of Tanks. Im by no means a usy body, but i just dont want what time i am playing eaten up by just one task of farming or taming.

I ended up building a mini base on the raft which was kind of cool. As a first time player, I made the mistake of thinking I could turn it into a gun-ship by placing a ballista on it...but it doesn't fit lol.
That is also a rad boat, you took my newb idea to 2.0 by making it bigger haha. I kind of wondered if that was possible so now I need to make another raft.
once you have a bow and tranq arrows, find a lvl 5 bronto if your only concern is berry efficiency. they're slow as hell, so you can keep backing up and firing a tranq every 10 seconds until they KO, then fill them with any berries and keep them KO'd until they're up... a couple of tail swipes and you have a few stacks of each berry

Fun fact if you hate those dlc items they force feed you everytime you spawn it’s in options. Turn off default spawn items. Cheers!

small tip early game the small piles of rocks tend to give more metal so when getting your first metal tools mine those

Nowadays I beat the Central and the Lower South Caves, have a big main base at the Redwood Lake, reached level 100, got a lot of tames and breed rexes, but I have to learn more.
It nice to see someone doing a solo play through, I’ve been looking as I don’t get much use from the multiplayer info as I can’t play any multiplayer games since download and upload speed is 1.5mbps on a good day😂

The raft base is a really good idea
Indeed it is! If you play on an Official Server, and a few others, it is often a problem finding good real estate to start a base of operations build with so much space already claimed and pillars all over the place. A player has to know how to do a good raft build and turn it into a base of operations to craft wanted tools, weapons, and other objects. His raft build is a bit different than what I like to make and I was surprised to see he was able to make the island journey without getting sunk by a huge shark, or Moby the Dick.
@@wastedwatts I just spent HOURS as a first time player learning how to do the ship build, and gathering resources with basic tools. i IMMEDIATELY got dunked on by that assholefish trying to get there

I love ark and watching people play and enjoy ark but it gets difficult to follow or be inspried to carry on especially when you play on console and see all these pc players us mods that makes life so much better, so this series is definitely much appreciated
I hope you noticed he did make a number of changes to the defaults of the game, other than maximum difficulty. I was surprised he tried to harvest a large stone in the water that is meant to be only decoration. He also didn't seem to know stone, or first level tools normally don't harvest metal, but sometimes smooth river rocks will give a few metal. They will give more if there is a holiday event activated.
@@wastedwatts stone tools harvest metal in very small amounts. Also changes to the settings are not mods, and are totally doable by console players.

haha cheers and yer this is the first time I've attempted to play ark and defeat the end game boss but there's been a lot of changes to the game over the years and I think it can be done solo now.
Yes defo can get done solo, iv watched a few play through series, iv watched your server set up video, I have done the same only I added npc mod just to make things interesting 😂
@@graemepaton3024 I would certainly recommend a better loot mod and some kind of stack mod. I attempted to play without mods so this would perhaps appeal to a wider audience. I've been breeding and imprinting without s+ and it's taking a long time. Without the nanny in s+ you eggs decay so p.c needs to be on all the time and I can't see any way around it without a mod or breaking the mechanics of the game. I have also built lots of large vaults to store hide because of a master craft t rex saddle costs around 10.000 hide. Ark needs to address the stack size of the hide as its so much to craft just 1. But other than that so far it's been possible the last part has been a grind to do without mods but getting there.
Might take your advice an add few mods make it better for breeding cheers 👍 in away to finish binging the rest of your uploads 😊

Nice relaxing intro to Ark. Certainly would have helped if I had watched a video like this before I joined an official PvP server, and subsequently quit for years out of frustration.
I have to say, I like the rush to a raft base. I've never done it right away, like that. Perhaps next time.
Just picked the game up today, gonna be watching alot bc im struggling lol died twice trying to get out of the cold already.
Hehehehe if you want to be in the cold try to lvl your fortitude so you can withstand cold,hot, and importantly Torpidity since their are players who banks you.

Thank-you @new2golf I will complete the island and I appreciate that. It was only the end of August when I started the channel and its funny to see how the series has progressed since then. I do hope to have part 18 complete before xmas.
I usually build my starter base in that rock area by explorer note 7 so many of those shiny rocks that give a little metal and river rocks below. I make sure I do some leveling with notes and crafting narcotics and at least reach stone tier. I build a raft also and then refine the metal at herbivore island and get an Anky. Then take my taming/refining forge raft to the snow biome and take all of those resources. At this point I am the level to make cryo pods and use them to migrate all my dinos to my new base on the north west of the island where the river meets the redwoods that has that big log tunnel connecting the redwoods to the regular land. A good central hub for resources.
The only three settings that i NEED to be turned up at all times are, resource respawn timers, resource respawn distance from base (im an aesthetics person... i hate having trees and rocks not spawn for 100+ meters) and taming speed. I do not, ever, EVER, want to be waiting days to tame a high level Rex. Hours i could deal with, but DAYS!? nah, fuck that.
*cries in 19 hour Therizino tame on official Servers* Yeah, i feel you. Theres a reason why I only play on Servers that have Taming at least at 3x, if not higher. Same for Ressource Respawns, nothing more annoying than wanting to farm some Metal only to find it all already empty and having to wait 2 hours until they respawn...
@@JustPixelNoIDontWantAnyNumbers its the entire reason that ive only ever played Ark solo in single player with 3-5x rates, or on a server run by the old clan i used to run with in World of Tanks. Im by no means a usy body, but i just dont want what time i am playing eaten up by just one task of farming or taming.

I ended up building a mini base on the raft which was kind of cool.
As a first time player, I made the mistake of thinking I could turn it into a gun-ship by placing a ballista on it...but it doesn't fit lol.
That is also a rad boat, you took my newb idea to 2.0 by making it bigger haha.
I kind of wondered if that was possible so now I need to make another raft.
@@megahurts2 You will find you can make more than a few rafts, but you have to get a significant distance from any of your other rafts to launch them.

once you have a bow and tranq arrows, find a lvl 5 bronto if your only concern is berry efficiency.
they're slow as hell, so you can keep backing up and firing a tranq every 10 seconds until they KO, then fill them with any berries and keep them KO'd until they're up... a couple of tail swipes and you have a few stacks of each berry

@@davidaward82 yo thanks lad. i’ve always had the game but never got into it much since i didn’t have a understanding really. i decided to get the game again and i tamed my first dino yesterday. i didn’t know you could use them for farming. that made my life so much easier.
