I absolutely love Matisse! This video is gorgeous, so happy I've found you. I'm an Absolute, and no talented, beginner but I go immediately to paint! And Como Lake just one hour from me, so many thanks from Italy. Silvia
Beautifully done! I never really liked Matisse’ work but I love the vibrancy of the colors and how they flow and move around the page. The warm vs cool sides of the doors and the shadows and the reflections in the windows.. basically everything about this piece makes me want to look at it longer. I would definitely stop at this painting in a gallery/museum
Very nicely explained. I was inspired to photograph for reference my garden through the window view. Large pink day lilies and the window is framed by green and orange flowered curtains. There's a ceramic paint pot with a Chinese style painting of plants but the orange pink flowers in that pot are going over. The much taller lilies are bowing over protecting the smaller plant from the really hot weather we have been having in the UK. In the background, a fabulous green garden. Under the pots a selection of cream, peach and soft pink slabs leading the eye deeper into the garden.. I have fingers and toes crossed I can follow your lovely example!
This painting is so pretty!! Matisse is one of my favorite artists. I did this same project once in acrylics with my 4th-6th grade art students and it was a lot of fun. Although their paintings turned out great, the acrylics didn’t seem to give the transparency and vibrancy of colors I thought this project needed for the window reflections of the water, sky, and landscape. Your video tutorial has inspired me to try this project again with my classes but using watercolors instead. Thanks so much for sharing your idea!
I'm new to watercolor, been following YT tutorials for about a year, and this one became an instant favorite! I learned so much while having fun and not stressing. Have painted two scenes so far. Please continue with other Great Artists!
Thank you this turned out beautiful! I love the vibrancy of M Graham paints , I use them almost exclusively I have 35 of their colors in my collection . If you email them they will send you their color chart, I love using it because it tells you the pigment number, if it is opaque , semi opaque, transparent , staining or a granulating color as well as the light fastness! I love having this chart as it helps me decide on what color I want to order next !
This made me so happy! I think I will do a few of my favorite places! Thank you once again for your generous ideas and guidance! Ever great full for your channel! I get inspired with each video you share🎉🎉❤
Loved this, loved your take on Matisse. I will have a go tomorrow. As always, find your videos very relaxing, informative and inspiring. Thanks Margo. x
I made 2 first drafts that I am pleased with. I will make a few more before using my precious Arches paper. As you know, practice makes not perfect, but better!
As soon as you added the boat to the water, I felt a sense of place. Just that little thing made a huge impact, and the rest was icing. Very enjoyable, plus I've always loved Matisse.
I just discovered your channel today, and I have saved this to my favorites! I suffer from chronic pain with anxiety, and I'm looking forward to being able to paint again. I was wondering if you could do a Raoul Dufy inspired painting with buildings, people, sailboats, etc in his style! I think I'll subscribe today!! 🎨 Mary-Helen
Hi Mary Helen! Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing. Mental health always comes first and it makes me so happy to know this video can help you in some way. Sending you virtual hugs, love and light ❤️

It was the process for me that made it so calming! Thank you for sharing this video! As a beginner, it felt like i could try a specific artist's style like it is no big deal. Thank you for breaking it down..will definitely try it!
I don't know if you're going to do an "in the style of for relaxation" series- but if you do, a fb group where we can share our paintings would be amazing!
Beautifull! J'ai adoré le proces er volg Beautifull! J'aii adoré votre commentair si joyeuse! , je me demande comment vous parlez si bien l'anglais en étant française? Chapeau pour ça!!
Gorgeous. I really enjoyed how you explained the whole process. Excellent execution. I loved the art book you used. Can you let us know what art history book this was.
I'm watching this for a third time in awe- just the ease of creating this beautiful work of art. Also great narrative about colors, depth..and Matisse. Very nice!
I enjoyed watching you create this and I love the result. I'm a bit confused, however, as you mentioned those Caran D'Ache neocolor and I didn't see you use them, did I miss it? Edit: I watched again and see you used one to sketch!
Hi there! I have a video where I did a whole painting with them. I’ll probably be doing more videos soon with them and with fun “extras” you can do with them. Thanks for watching!
painting, art history and story telling😊 so creative and nice ⚘.
I’m so glad you liked it! I was worried the history part would be boring!
