This feels like a hard lesson learned by Benson not to judge all mental illness on one experience. I feel sorry for the guy. I can't imagine how debilitating it is to live with such a devastating illness.
I have a friend with schizophrenia and autism. He was homeless and it took two years to convince him to come stay at my house. Then it took another year to get him to agree to see a doctor. Now, 2 years later, he works, has relationships and is happy. He takes his meds even though he would rather not. He understands what will happen if he stops. He is happier with his life the way it is now, so he maintains his med regiment. For the first time, he is happy.
@@amyraszipovits810 Without these pills, she could be a danger to herself and others. There are cases in which it is either drugs or a mental institution for life
I'm so happy for him. But I'm even more happy that he has such a strong and well meaning support system like you. To give a hoot about others is so important in this world. And I genuinely appreciate that quality. 😊 Wishing the best for you and your friend😊
I suffer from Schizophrenia Auditory hallucinations meaning i hear voices but like this guy i was medicated and have bad side effects like bugs on the skin feeling and constant sweating and yawning but i was placed on new meds and feel better took some years but i got there

When your mind is totally out of control, it's terrifying. You can't tell reality from horrible fantasy, and you can't make it stop. So you take the drugs and you have to live with all those side effects. Which is worse? It's not surprising that some people choose death as the only way out. And please, please, I am NOT advocating for that. It's just that it's so easy for other people to judge the one who is sick.
Y’all are gonna HATE me for this but watching all episodes of SVU, Olivia’s bias was EXTREMELY hurtful through the years!!! Look how many innocent peoples lives were ruined because Olivia ALWAYS had to believe the woman no matter what
Before y’all say it yes I know she changed later in the season but just because she is different doesn’t mean lives STILL weren’t ruined behind her growth
I am inclined to agree as well. There were many episodes from the earlier years where I didn't care for Olivia because she was just too biased. However, after Season 15, which marked her boiling point following the situations with William Lewis, I believe she may have cooled off a bit. Plus, let's not forget that at the beginning of 22, which tied in to the real-world situation as it was in 2020, she's finally come to realize how her own bias has clouded her judgment, especially as a Detective.
That doesn’t really apply here, there was no testimony for her to believe. This was a bias based on people with schizophrenia more than believing women
is this the one where he stabbed the attacker for attacking his friend? and they think he killed them both? when in reality he tried to save her but she was already dead?
Technically, she wasn't dead, at least, according to the schizophrenic. I think he killed her after seeing her get r*ped. I'm not sure, though I never saw the episode. Just opinion formed from this episode
Im uncomfortable around schizophrenics. My mother was schizophrenic and bipolar. She took so many medications, she was numb. She couldn't get angry or sad or happy. It's like she wasn't even there anymore. A brick had more personality. But the person with schizophrenia that really put me on edge was my roommate's brother. He's a violent schizophrenic. He lived with us for five days before he tried to Game Over everyone. He was specifically after me because he didn't like the way his brother and I joked around, calling each other "butthead" and "lame-o". After the incident, I've found it incredibly difficult to get past the assumption that schizophrenics can't be trusted. Logically, I know not every person is the kind who will try to Game Over someone. My mom was mildly violent before the medication, hitting people and throwing things. But she was never police-involved violent. I just can't seem to be comfortable aound this particular illness anymore. It makes me sad. I have to fight myself not to judge and to give people a chance.
I don't blame you. I have a grandma who has bipolar disorder and she was awful to my mom. Never took care of her mental health and cheated multiple times.
I'm Bipolar. I've dealt with that diagnosis and the disease for years. I've finally reached a happy medium with the right medication after years of trial and error.
If he isnt on medication, then he cant give a statement. Ok, but he couldnt go to jail because he is mentaly ill. If he takes meds but he wasnt on them when he killed the man, then he wasnt sane, he wasnt in his right mind. He cant go to prison, he needs to go to a hospital for proper treatment and care.
Hey guys, do you think Tola will become a lieutenant in the next season and Benson will become chief of police that way to answer to nobody except the mayor and what about Stabler if he becomes a sergeant he’ll have more authority
There's a good chance they'll promote him to Lieutenant while Benson stays on as Captain. However, it would be nice if they added Bruno & Currie to the opening credits, AND brought back Rollins to the cast, which I have a feeling might happen after seeing her performance on this past season finale.
sure they got a confession but when ya think oh the meds are for everyone's own good i love moch in this saying the right stuff like always who is the meds really for

It sucks only thing keeping me out of the hospitals is the meds but there are side effects

Good for you. That's not the majority.
My sister is schizophrenic and bi-polar. She also prefers her life now over not being medicated

You have schizophrenia and you’re a furry? I don’t think the pills are working.
In your case, would you say that medication is a quality of life issue or essential to daily function?

Stabler & Benson Were both unbelievably biased At least in my opinion

This is very upsetting news to watch I can tell. Especially, that male customer never seen blood like that spewing all over.
