I Like the way he dances. Why does each person dance to the same song differently? I know each Kumu has their own style, but you would think the movements would be the same if dancing to the same words in the songs.

As with any dance (ballet, modern dance, jazz, etc.) the choreography varies because it is the choreographer's interpretation of the music or song. Many kumu hula are very protective of their choreography, especially for the kahiko (ancient) hula, so they don't want their dancers' performances to be recorded and shared on social media because others may copy the choreography. That's why I usually ask the kumu or the dancers for permission to post my videos on social media. Kumu Hula Frank Akima often performs with the duo Kupāoa and he's always said it's OK to post, so when he's called up to dance like this time with Kuana Torres Kahele, I know he won't mind. You can also tell when a kumu hula or soloist like a Miss Aloha Hula contestant or winner is dancing because the choreography is often very "vivid" and they move around the stage or dance area more than a dancer who is used to dancing in unison with a group.
