From what I understand, those armed people and drones are trying to wipe out the infected people (in the underground slums?), and that red haired knight is also an infected. Then 2D art part is showing her battles. What happened there is basically them protecting the infected people. The event is also about basically a massive Knight Tournament and its corruption. I haven't read the event story yet, so this might be inaccurate. I'll try to explain it better when I get to it.
Kazimierz is pretty much a capitalist dystopia nation funding itself off the proceeds of competitive knight tournaments, and while they nominally have an Infected bracket that leads into the normal rounds it's a political maneuver to appeal to the non-Infected public more than anything else, since the previous champion that took the scene by storm was outed as one herself (also for political reasons). The Infected prelims are pretty much a bloody free-for-all at best where the audience just turns up to watch them get hurt more than to cheer them on, and once some actually do make it into the main tournament you have to deal with the fact that you are up a creek without a paddle without the support of an official club and corporate sponsorship. Scrap gear will only get you so far. And, of course, corporations do not like it when the Infected actually _do_ do better than the pros they actually sponsor to use their equipment. The redhead founded the Pinus Sylvestris knightclub mostly so Infected knights can have some mutual support, but it can't really solve the poverty and unfair treatment issues, and they pretty much have to take turns between their own matches watching the slums in case of corporate assassination attempts.

nearl the radiant knight~ is a legend in kazimier, champion of the tournament... in this incident they try to "clean" the area of infected and she, nearl, when she finds out, goes to help the infected... as a result of this incident They begin to defame her and give false reports that she is infected so that she does not continue participating in the tournament, even her family denies her, and she, faithful to her honor and thoughts, helps the infected and leaves the kazimiers and leaves behind her legend and ends up on rodes island... where we are the player... by the way, the one with red hair dreamed of being a knight and her honorable path and this is the first tournament where they let infected people participate and that's why she enters... but she she is betrayed by those ideals she had given that the same ones they admired were the ones who went to attack the infected, that's why she wonders what it means to be a knight when she is surrounded by drones... and there the radiant knight appears to demonstrate what does it mean to bea knight... it is very interesting how do the stories link ps: sorry my bad english, I understand it but it's hard for me to write it or speak it well xD
"even her family denies her" well, no. they agreed to confirm the rumour so Nearl can get exiled out of Kazimierz publicly and safely instead of having it be done by force. they did that to protect her. same reason Mlynar wanted Maria out of tourney. he knew whichever part of Kazimierz higherups that defamed Nearl is still onto her and her relatives, and having Maria enter the tourney would make her an easy target for the assassins. well at the end of the day Nearl returned to Kazimierz to save Maria and thus starts Near Light event story 🗿
Have to give two thumbs up for Platinum (5 stars Sniper class) vs Margret Nearl and Flametail (2- 6 stars Vanguard and Guard class); she still able to almost equal match against them.
