As per my understanding
Point of succession planning-
1. Conflict resolution mechanism- when you have already planned who all is going to be on the board or KMP then there will not be any conflict about the succession of the business.
Aligning- In family business succession planning helps in planning the persons in whose hands the business is going to be so as to rest sure about the family culture and values of business in the coming future.

Sir, If you want to know how "Succession planning" relates to aligning the family owned business watch the HBO show "Succession". (Roys didn't do such planning and faced the consequences)

I think aligning means maintaining the same culture and vision by family members. The best example is Amarendra Bahubali and Mahendra Bahubali, where kattapa told Mahendra that apne pita ki tarah socho. That means family alignment.😅😅
