It was some of the most egregious recency bias I have seen in the national media. Basically ignoring Celtics being dominant for a full season because they didn't get any tough competition in the conference finals But that's of course why they swept at the conference finals and went 12 and two overall.

When Boston played Golden State, the media went crazy when Boston made the finals…Showered them with praise. I think the team started believing the media hype. They thought to win the finals they needed to win over the media.

Yeah I think Luka has to lose a finals before he wins one. I’m not counting the Mavs out yet but it seems to be that most superstars have to lose at least one to understand what it takes to get past the finish line. If the Mavs lose I’d bet Luka comes back next season in much better shape

80% of people betting Mavs BECAUSE of the media fawning over them for 2 weeks non stop. Seems a little suspicious to me . The betting sites advertise on their channels and even shows. This betting should be a little more separate from the sports media and teams or it's eventually going to be abused if it isn't already.

Lol for real just ask Luka...he scored 30, but couldnt create for others and the celtics went at him defensively the whole game. More than a few times he just didn't rotate or close out his man and looked absolutely gassed

I think the Celtics were paying attention to the doubters and the national media kissing up to the Mavs. They went out in Game 1 needing to remind the basketball world why they were the best team in the NBA all season long. Also NO offense is "unstoppable" if the right matchups and schemes are utilized. This Celtics team is a mismatch nightmare for the Mavs.

It’s because the Mavs beat 3 teams that the C’s somewhat struggled with in the regular season but just because we struggled with the Wolves and the Mavs beat the wolves doesn’t mean we can’t beat the Mavs. Teams perform differently against certain teams. I’ve been saying it for a while now I think Dallas’ weakness is fast pace offense. Luka is an incredible player but he’s slow, gasses out fast, and isn’t the greatest defender. You put a good fast player like JB against him and he’s done.
I noticed the Mavs weakness to speed in their 2 games against the Pacers in the regular season. Move the ball quick and play fast and they can’t keep up. They’re going to have to find a way to slow them down.

Contrary to popular belief, the top of the east is way better than the top of the west.
I just don’t see how Dallas can defend. If you watch the game, no Celtic really went off offensively (outside Portzingis for just the first half), Tatum can play better, Prichard went 0-7 from 3, Brown was their leading scorer with 22. Everyone talks about how Kyrie and Luka can be better (and that I’m suspicious of, a bit better but Boston will make it difficult to do so. Luka may get 35 but he won’t be playing D, he won’t be efficient and I think Boston has the guards to defend Kyrie, at least limit him to under 20) The series is more about the other guys imo, if the rest can’t get 60+ points together I don’t see think the math works out, unless Luka averages 40+ppg in wins
Yeah I think Luka and Kyrie both gotta get at least 30-35+ to win. Kidd said they have to take the 3’s away but if they do that, they’ll bring the defense out more and then we’ll just score in the paint more
@@MarkwittaK taking the 3 away is nice to say, but they're not really built to do it, and if those guys are using their energy on defense their offense will suffer. Combined the Mavs duo averaged 0.6ppg (scored 4 more points in Game 1) than the C's. The difference isn't as great as everyone else made it out to be, however the C's duo is really good defensively, the Mavs' has been just passable for like two months. I just can't see where they get their defense from
They've been the favorites everytime so to say they were doubted is a little bit of a drag., And even if they are doubted then you can't really blame the doubt cause they've failed each and everytime they've been a favorite except so far in this series., Until they win it all the way they should just accept that doubt and make it an inspiration and fuel to win this time..

I appreciate you shouting out Tatum. If you look at the box score it doesn’t look like he played well but if you watch him in game he was all over the court. I’m sure he desperately wanted to prove himself after the disappointing ‘22 finals but like every great leader does he swallowed his pride and did the dirty work instead. He won’t get any love for what he did except from people who know basketball. This all is vindicated by the fact he was a +19 in the game

@@paulostatic8497 he only took 16 which for him is on the low side for him. He took 5 shots in the fourth when the game was already decided as he was trying to find his rhythm and he missed 4 out of 5 of those shots which is why his field goal percentage looks bad. He generated a game high 14 potential assists that his teammates missed which is more than Luka who only generated 7… not to mention the hockey assists. Again the stat sheet won’t tell you he played a good game unless you really dig into the specifics

The only way I saw anybody picking Dallas in this series is based of KP health or this ridiculous take of Luca is a god type player he’s great on offense but on defense they are specifically hunting him in match ups in my opinion without KP Celtics win in 6 with him they win in 5
