    I owned an SW20 between 2007-2019, bought as a 18 year old apprentice, and loved it dearly. Lovely to see that the next generation also appreciates these cars!

      @@raulruiz6165 Really depends on the state of the car. It's a really old car so you are going to run into issues, however if you don't need to rely on the car you can figure things out for it.

      I got mine at 18 in 2012 as a HS graduation/bday present! Still have it to this day! Love it, and I daily drove mine for 3 years before it blew a headgasket at 228k miles due to incompetence of a shop not bleeding the cooling system properly. It truly is fairly practical! Even drove it 300 miles/5 hours out to Myrtle Beach one time lol!

      @@nickadkins7765 great that you still have it. I was kind of just done with it after a decade plus of driving. It was mostly a weekend car for me, but also served for a couple years as daily / only car.

    Hey mate. Awesome video. I've been following you for a while now and I don't really comment in the comments section but honestly, I am building my one it was a running project but I've seen it stand still atm but honestly, I reckon that you've done a really good job on the car. I 100% agree, ive owned my sw20 for 4 years too. Very rewarding experience to drive it once you learn the limits and manage/prevent snap oversteer. Old car parts break, a pain to work in the engine bay, but as you fix things , you have a reliable toyota gem. 👍

    I bought my SW20 about 4 years ago with 260k miles and it's been my daily since then. Currently I'm rebuilding a 4A-GE to swap into an AW11 with a 2GR on standby when the 5S-FE in my SW20 goes. I fell for these cars so much, as long as fuel is available I can't really see myself driving anything else

    dude i love your videos. no bs, just the facts and honest opinions. you give some good pros and cons to make an informed decision. there's a lot of articles and videos out there just saying "you need to buy this car now!" or "it's a deathtrap". not you though, you convey the passion and love for the vehicle for the everyday person to understand.
    I'm in my late 20's USA and found an imported 1999 MR2 for a good price and your videos have been very informative. I'm going to test drive within the next few days, and I'm very excited!
    I guess what I'm trying to say is that seeing how much love you have for this car, shines through in your videos and I'm excited to potentially share that MR2 love if I end up buying after the test drive.
    I'll be sure to come back and give you an update :)
    keep up the great content my friend!

      @@Dutch_Fake_Ferrari Update, my friend!!
      I went to check out the '99, turned out to be a rustbucket. I was pretty bummed out about it, but I happened to find a 1995 SW20 on Facebook Marketplace and went to check it out. I fell in love! The paint is peeling a little in some places, but that's the only issue I had with the car, everything else looked great! I took the car to get a pre-purchase inspection and everything checked out! A couple of days later, I bought it!!
      It's been my daily for the past 3 days (my work commute is only 15 minutes each way), but I'm just getting a feel for the car and finding it's little quirks. It's so much fun to drive!
      Right now I have plans to:
      -Install sleepy low rise headlights
      -get new head unit and speakers
      -get the paint refinished
      -new rims and tires
      Your channel inspired me to make videos documenting my time with the car! Not sure if i want to get an actual camera and mic for the videos, or just stick with my phone :)
      I'll be sure to keep you updated, and if I end up making videos I'll be sure to send you the link!
      Cheers, brother!

      It is doable, I got my first MR2 at 20, which was my first car. There is a learning curve when it comes to driving and maintainance/getting parts however if you have some people around that can help it is really doable. Just keep in mind that keeping a car like this on the road will be a bit more expensive in comparison to an old beater or eco car you don’t care about, especially if you make a lot of miles in the car.

    the used car market has gone insane the last few years...here in germany you easily pay at least 12,000 euro for a halfway good mr2 sw20...and for that kind of money you can also get a good late 90´s porsche boxter...and i think when it comes to fun driving mid engine cars the boxter is the better choice.
    you really have got to be a real mr2 fan to pay that kind of money for a almost 30 year old toyota...since i do not believe it has potential to become a high value classic collectable...that been said it´s a nice car with a timeless design!

    • @Dutch_Fake_Ferrari
      @Dutch_Fake_Ferrari  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Porsche boxter defenitely a good choice as well! And really with the German prices. I sometimes look at German cars and you guys look like you have pretty high prices for 90s jdm cars.

    • @pauls.8748
      @pauls.8748 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Dutch_Fake_Ferrari yes jdm prices are crazy especially in NRW because we like to use them as track tools for the nürburgring...cars like a civic typ r, impreza wrx and lancer evo all cost a small fortune if you can even find one thats for sale...but also the prices for hot hatches are insane...was thinking of buying a abarth 595 competizione and even these small little pocket rockets you cant find one under 15,000 euros over here even the old models from 2009! but i guess if we germans are stupid enough to pay these high prices then the only way is up for the cost of a used little fun car!

      Snap Oversteer also happens to FWD! Rally guys use it to get around corners faster! But also, with the Turbo engine, it's more likely to happen; due to the heavier engine and increased power!
      What's great about the 2 is that it's fun to commute in. I drove a friend the other day and he said while sitting in my passenger seat it's fun to ride along in and that he was jealous of my car. He drives an E34. The lack of power steering and the light weight are probably what makes it so fun
