The problem with that is that football pays the bills at those universities. Enrollment goes way up when there's a top football program, you wouldn't have that money if not for football. Donors will donate for football only, look at Bruce Underwood, if he didn't accept that huge offer, the money wouldn't have gone somewhere else, it was only there for Underwood. Im a michigan fan, but here's what I hope happens, OSU wins the National Championship. Now what do you do fire your coach who just won the championship or*********.
Day’s job is safe. Donors and network execs run the Buckeyes and they know that Ryan Day’s style of football, while it will only win him 1/3 or 1/4 wins against Michigan and other physical teams, will nevertheless put him in a position to compete against most other teams in a playoff run every year, and that’s what they care about. The 12 team playoff was designed for teams like Ohio State, so that they can lose to a 5-loss Michigan team at home, finish 4th in the Big10, fail to appear in, much less win, their conference championship game, but still be able to host a home playoff game every year regardless. Ryan Day admitted as much when he compared Ohio State’s current posture moving forward with an NFL team’s. The only question is will the die hard, old school Buckeye fans give way to the lawyers and bankers gaslighting them into making The Game and similar rivalries irrelevant moving forward? Who knows?
Everyone likes to forget 2013 when OSU won the Game then lost Big Ten championship game to Michigan State and then lost to Clemson in the Orange Bowl. Then lost to a VT team that they had no business losing to, before they go on run, win the Game, crush Wisky in Big Ten championship and with everyone saying they didn't belong in playoffs and that Bana was going to kill them and were big underdogs in Bamas back yard, ran the ball down the tides throats and beat them and big underdogs to Ducks won by twenty for the Natty. People were doubting Urban when he lost to MSU and Clemson too. Keep the faith. Fire him and who you going to get?
I agree. Michigan fan here. From what I understand, Chip Kelly was up in the booth calling those runs into the line between the tackles. And ignoring the pass, when OSU had several NFL-level receivers. Thank you!
"He has won most of his games" --- No. They bought most of their wins. Those rosters would win almost all of those games against those teams with just about any coach in the country. When you talk about games with an almost level playing field, where the coaching actually makes a difference, his record is abysmal.
If you were to ask the player to 1:36 beat Michigan n lose 3 other games n or lose to Michigan n win all the other games what would the answer be? In this era the weight of th GAME is not as crucial as it used to be…to a few yes but with the changing landscape of college football one can lose the GAME n still make the championships! It remains a good RIVALRY but it is diluted in essence! Next year Ohio State will likely lose the GAME in Ann Arbor then? Focus on the big picture…
Ryan Day has put Ohio State fans through enough. Their done with him. Should they get a home playoff game, I expect some noticeable empty seats in the Shoe.
I think the standard is just so high at Ohio state. And I think Day has to do better obviously, but we have got to stop acting like he’s done an abysmal job. Before I say this that lost against Michigan was absolutely due to ego, and he wanted to win a certain way. We are killing them sidleine to sideline in the beginning of the game, hell Howard went 13/13 then we started fucking running it for no damn reason. But he’s won 2/3 top 5 matchups this year, and if the kicker(God it seems like we have not had a kicker since Meyer) doesn’t miss the field goal against Georgia we’d probably have a chip under our belt. Lastly, those who are clamoring for day to be fired. His buy out is 37 million plus the cost of hiring new staff plus the cost of NIL, then add in the possibility of losing key staff like a heartline who smith wants to play for plus a downs who came to Ostate because of day you’re looking at about $80 million lost and star players potentially leaving. Anyone that agrees to that is crazy.
The expectations are ridiculously stupid!.. you lose coach Day.. you lose more than a coach! Hopefully all these great players transfer out… losing the GAME stinks but it’s not the end of Football it’s all a mental game..
First of all, Connor was long gone by the time Michigan best down Ohio State for what was the third straight year. Second of all it's already been established that Michigan never cheated and what Connor did had no effect on any game. Third, last year Michigan team was the best team of all time. Why they didn't secure a QB for this season is beyond me. Still had a championship defense. Screwed the pooch on what could have been back to back champion seasons.
Day is terrible. A cardboard cutout could go 10-2 at OSU with the way they recruit, NIL, facilities. If OSU wants to break through to championships… they must part ways with Day
ATTENTION ALL TRUE BUCKEYE FANS: Join the BOYCOTT! Do not attend another OSU football game, buy any OSU merchandise, or watch a Buckeye football game until the coward Ryan Day is fired!
Ryan day doesn't have a good record, his teams that he has had for the last 5 years. Have good records... Imagine having an elite coach that is confident leading that team. There's been plenty of opportunities and I think it's clear that the coach is the problem
Hey Butt. You were laughing, you're still laughing and you can't admit it on air when you get confronted. Grow some Balls. Everyone is Laughing at Ohio State!
It's over for him. After the playoffs he will be let go. If he wins then he will most likely stay but crazy OSU alumni have had enough of him. BTW, I guess Michigan cheating last year is no longer important? What a joke
Please stop the nonsense about Coach Day's job. He's not going anywhere and talking about it just for content is shameful. Firing a very successful coach over not being able to defeat the rival is absurd and only gives unearned glory to that team.Michigan fans are basking in the handwringing, crying and whining of Buckeye nation. It means more to Michigan fans than the game victory itself. If the team had a losing record, that's a different story. Coach Day's winning percentage is enviable by most coaches. STOP THE NONSENSE!!
"Very successful coach" Day has failed in his main objectives as coach: 1) beat Michigan, 2) win Big 10 Championship, 3) win a Natty. Day's record wins are against bottom tier teams: the Northwesterns, Purdues, the Rutgers. However, Day can't beat teams that are the MUST WIN games. Only Michigan fans want Ryan Day to stay, including myself!
Let’s be real Ryan Day deal is safe. We cannot afford a $36 million buyout and honestly if I were him, I’d leave for the NFL and flip double birds to these fickle fans give me a break.
I agree with 99.9% of everything said here today... with ONE exception. Jake said, "the deck will never be stacked again like it was on Saturday." Well, the NCAA and the B1G will have something to say about that at some point before next season kicks off. Jake could be right, OR the governing bodies COULD drop a hammer for what's been PROVEN... michigan cheated for 3 years, and to what degree, if any, that cheating impacted the games is moot, but what is NOT uncertain is that michigan cheated. So, the deck MIGHT be stacked even more in favor of Ohio State over the next few years than it was three days ago... or maybe Jake was right. We shall see.

@nealharris2381 I live in Michigan and I'm a big fan of the wolverines. You should ask first before assuming. I have no clue who the Ohio Bobcats are, but I wouldn't be surprised if one chased you down the street.
@ okay you don’t know college’s or universities but the team UM beat is called Ohio State and the other university in Ohio is called Ohio university
@nealharris2381 I think you're dementia is running wild again. I said shock in Ohio meaning the fans in reference to that dreadful defeated feeling there going thru right now . Next time when you jump on someone's comments, try and not overheat your brain with your thoughts and just be kind. Ok my Ohio State fan.
The only James Franklin better than James Franklin is Ryan Day. If he isn’t fired after this year there’s no hope of winning up north going forward.
Im a michigan fan, but here's what I hope happens, OSU wins the National Championship. Now what do you do fire your coach who just won the championship or*********.
Backhanded compliment....MI boosters should pay his salary.
Who knows?
He quit and is going to Chicago to coach the Bears. 🐻
He won 2 top 5 games this year
Everyone likes to forget 2013 when OSU won the Game then lost Big Ten championship game to Michigan State and then lost to Clemson in the Orange Bowl.
Go Bucks Always!
It’s actually 62-51-6 since Ohio state had to vacate their win from 2010
The one coach that will probably be fired is Kelly. He is washed up.
I agree. Michigan fan here. From what I understand, Chip Kelly was up in the booth calling those runs into the line between the tackles. And ignoring the pass, when OSU had several NFL-level receivers. Thank you!
Him and Gus let the game pass them right on by after being two of the most innovative offensive minds in recent times, not anymore 😅
That coaching job is " dust in the wind".
"He has won most of his games" --- No. They bought most of their wins. Those rosters would win almost all of those games against those teams with just about any coach in the country. When you talk about games with an almost level playing field, where the coaching actually makes a difference, his record is abysmal.
Every school is buying players now. It’s a compliment to say a team spends a lot on NIL. How much did UM pay for underwood?
If you were to ask the player to 1:36 beat Michigan n lose 3 other games n or lose to Michigan n win all the other games what would the answer be? In this era the weight of th GAME is not as crucial as it used to be…to a few yes but with the changing landscape of college football one can lose the GAME n still make the championships! It remains a good RIVALRY but it is diluted in essence! Next year Ohio State will likely lose the GAME in Ann Arbor then? Focus on the big picture…
Nice to know joshua has pants
Ohio St needs a kicker who can kick!
Sawyer should’ve kept the flag.
It's as safe as his compensation package and not one dollar more.
Ryan Day has put Ohio State fans through enough. Their done with him. Should they get a home playoff game, I expect some noticeable empty seats in the Shoe.
No way there will be empty seats, pests keep it real, if he makes a strong playoff run, he saves face, pressure will still be on him to beat MI tho
Not safe at all he should be fired today
Who will come in and keep all the players they have and recruits.
@@garyfawver2748they’re gonna lose em anyway 😂
This show is not going how Joshua Perry thought it would go (week ago).
O! H! Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh Nooooooooooo!!!!
The expectations are ridiculously stupid!.. you lose coach Day.. you lose more than a coach! Hopefully all these great players transfer out… losing the GAME stinks but it’s not the end of Football it’s all a mental game..
What’s Connor up to these days
Maybe we could hire him for a bit
We’d probably still lose
Worth a shot though
Go Bucks
Ryan has to win the championship…Or he’s gone!
Harbaugh banned from college football it's proven they cheated 100%
That’s it bring urban back so he can teach day how to be TTUN
Gold pants? Ohio has brown pants bc Michigan made yall crap yourself.
Fans spitting on Michigan players has to stop! 😤
He sad Giggling!!
Jakes rubbing it in by laughing. BC he never beat OSU. Living vicariously
It’s as safe as a snake in the eagles nest
〽️💪🏾
Too bad Joey Galloway is no where near the professional Josh is.
Ok what a totally inane discussion. Ohio State lost because Ryan day keeps trying to prove that he's a tough guy
Let’s go blue for 9 straight wins
Day is terrible. A cardboard cutout could go 10-2 at OSU with the way they recruit, NIL, facilities. If OSU wants to break through to championships… they must part ways with Day
Day needs to go.
Little gold pants....smh
😂😂😂😂😅😅😅😂😂
Kick the Buckeyes out of the playoffs and put them in the crappy bowl game michigan barely got to this season.
Lost to a walk on QB
Ryan Day has to go
Boy are you off base. Obviously not an Ohio State fan. He sucks and all the real fans know it.
I think OSU is lining up his replacement right now now. The next HC will be a Buckeye alum. The Team will not win another game.
I hope Ohio State keeps him because Michigan's going to be a hell of a lot better next year.
Ryan Day is another John Cooper….cant win the big games!!!
Go Blue!!!
😅😅😅😅

Ohio state lost to a better team.
I'm not so sure. Michigan fan here. It's fair to say that this year OSU had the better team ... on paper. But the game isn't won or lost on paper.
The ohio soft university,...1831 days and counting,...michigan owns the shoe,..."GO BLUE"
What's your excuse for this year's loss? A secret camera on top of the that flag?
It’s time to put all of that alleged “cheating” away forever. There will be no hammer
“ThE hAmMeR” no way you’re still saying this 😂😂😂😂
@@rickydavis1051 We'll see.
@@eddihaskell No excuse. No excuses for 21-23 either. But the proof has been published by the B1G... penalties are coming, we'll see hw severe.
Standard is too high. One of the reasons they lost
