They were too busy designing "roads" that are narrow metal walkways suspended above bottomless death pits with speed bumps that send you falling to your doom. What the hell kind of city design is this.

It’s literally an upgrade to Outbreak Prime so it makes no sense to put both in the game together… Do they make the original gun a skin for the new one? Maybe toy around with perfected itself? Either way it’d be a good idea for anyone who haven’t obtained it by now to do so before it’s locked behind a raid again.
I like how this darkness subclass can involve changing how you traverse the environment. Stasis crystals can create traversable platforms, and quite evidently a grapple here.
Pairing the crystal generator for platforms on demand with the grappling hook subclass does sound pretty cool, it's just a question of how much it'll actually be beneficial to use; The more relevant parkour is the expansion's gameplay, the better it'll be.

I like how Ghaul’s cabal that came to take the Last City were the “Red Legion,” and they wanted the Light. And now Calus’ army arriving along with the Voice in the Darkness itself is the “Shadow Legion.” And they’re coming to take a different city. It just fits.

I KNOW right!?! Overrides were the top activity out of all the ones that's ever been besides the King's Court in D1, so for them to take inspiration from the Splicer season and make a whole DLC out of it, I'm pretty fk'n excited my guy.

It's eye-opening to watch this now. Calus and the Witnesses dialog, the grenade launcher, us destroying a pyramid ship on neomuna, the fall from what seemed to be a skyscraper, the music, the mysterious figure with a cape, none of this is actually in the game......
not to mention Neomuna as a whole just looks... better in this trailer. what was shown here definitely would've been possible in the game, pre-rendered or not. it barely feels like a city at all

Lore wise it’s VERY fitting. We’ve been steadily advancing, you could say into a second golden age, with the eliksni and cabal at our side. This is the battle we’ve been and are going to continue to prepare for until next year. The 80s theme Carries that well.

From the lines of the witness, I realised I had completely misunderstood him as villian. I was expecting a creature, who believes he is unstoppable and sees everyone else as lesser, which would lead to him being straightforward in combat. But now he gives me more of a charismatic tactitian vibe, who can still kick ass if needed
The thing is - he doesn't NEED to kick ass. He is a God beyond Gods. He doesn't want to be some kind of ruler, nor does he want to be worshipped (might be wrong about that), and neither does he see any purpose in using his absolute power directly. The Witness is all about getting the universe to its final shape, and he does that by showing different races which could become the final shape the path he sees as correct (currently as we know, it's only the Hive, Cabal, Eliksni and Humanity). After all, he is "The Witness". And no amount of Guardians would be able to do anything had he wanted to destroy them, but this is the point: he doesn't. He doesn't care who becomes the final shape: he only cares about getting to it.
There's just so much to unpack in this trailer!! But for me those ronin guardians looks insane! THAT TITAN IS EVERYTHING! As a titan main i couldn't be happier
So hyped for Lightfall now, I was not expecting this to look so different than the previous D2 content. Very futuristic retro look, I would love it if they went with some like retrowave/synthwave type music for the expansion.
Seems to very much share a theme with Season of the Splicer doesn't it? I wasn't expecting this either and figured they would have The Last City besieged and maybe fall again Red War style (with the Helm being a new social space of sorts) with something perhaps even happening to the Traveler. Xivu Arath I also believed would have made an appearance by this point but clearly Calus is getting more attention first so he's most likely the raid boss now that he's a Disciple. And I'm sure we'll have Savathun back again in some Lightfall season and likely the same finally for Xivu (my guess would be Savathun and the Lucent Brood become our allies and while she tries to at least convince her sister, I still feel Xivu will remain aligned with the Darkness). My other final guesses at future content for Lightfall seasons would be a Vex / Rasputin themed season and maybe another for the Scorn / and or Taken. But yeah I'm pleasantly suprised though when regarding what we have seen, so I have nothing to complain about and don't at all mind pre-ordering Lightfall + annual pass (it's otherwise sort of rare that I preorder stuff nowadays).

I have been a loyal fan since D1, this looks absolutely brilliant. I’ve always felt like besides the tower, every environment in destiny felt abandoned and feral, so playing in a cyberpunk looking city is going to be amazing

6 months later, coming back to this after the release... man they dropped the ball. Why is none of this in game except the armor/strand and the destination? I mean these cutscenes looked so dope... we didn't get any cutscene of calus being transformed into a disciple, we didn't get any cutscene showing the cloudstrider reveal like that... And what's with the witness saying: let them come and see our shape reveal? It was not revealed at all... unless his shape is legit the triangle 🤦♂️ Missed opportunity bungie... we were so hyped for this
Sooooo..... 90% of what's shown in the trailer? And name a single time a cinematic trailer has ever been in game cutscenes. Did you complain that Witch Queen didn't have a cutscene in game of a Hidden agent telling Ikora about the Lightbearer Hive? Or when that one panel could be broken with anything and not just a trace rifle? Maybe even when there was no cutscene of Savathûn walking in the water? Literally all that's missing is a single weapon that we have confirmations on now.

I have a strong suspicion that Lightfall will be a two sided battle. Calus is tasked with destroying Neomuna, and the Witness goes to destroy the Last City and the Traveler. Think about it, the marketing says this is The Second Collapse, the apocalypse, and the great battle against The Witness. Why build up the attack on the Traveler, only to pull a fast one and have the story set on Neptune? Because it's only one side of the conflict. Placing my bets now, the twist of Lightfall will be that the Witness is heading for Earth to confront the Traveler and we might not make it back in time because Calus drew us away with his attack on Neomuna.
My guess is that Calus is a distraction to get us (the strongest Guardians) to leave Earth so the Witness can "infect our Traveler with darkness" (quote from the Vox prophecy) and the raid will be set inside the Traveler and will have us cleansing it

I don't think the witness will 'destroy' the traveller but possibly use whatever is inside it to his own end. Remember at the end of the witch queen campaign, he says "your pale heart holds the key"
When I saw the leaks I was actually really disappointed with the Cyberpunk theme but seeing it in-context after it being explained by Bungie made me REALLY appreciate it. Never been so hyped for a destination before!

Other than that, agreed. I wanted more vertical and open areas in neomuna with calus's ship looking menacing overhead, not perched on the edge at ground level. Instead they've put oob barriers on any hope of verticalilty. But hey at least the gameplay is cool

Great sound design on the Witness voice. The perfect melding of multiple (real) voices without distortion. So expertly gives them a dark edge, even though all we've seen them do is stand, walk and look.
I’m gonna say it: The fact that this went for an 80s futurism style and showed us detouring to Neptune in the middle of the Witness’ attack on the Traveler, when defending our home should have been most important, should have been a red flag from the beginning.
we didn't know the witness would be at the traveler until like 1 week before lightfall, we saw calus and some pyramids moving in the solar system in seraph but that was it, except this trailer was released even before that so

One of my biggest issues with this trailer is we never see pyramid ships in the city. They are only in the skybox and there is one above you in the strike, but they do basically nothing in the story. This truely was a cabal DLC, not a darkness DLC like it should have been

Fantastic, absolutely fantastic. I wanted a fresh utopia since I saw how amazing Titan was, I was always a bit gutted we couldn’t have seen it in it’s prime. The super and the whole aesthetic of the environment compliment everything really well.
0:58 one of the coldest villain scenes ever. I swear all villains from the cinema that involve a scene with glass and they are mirrored upon it is very touching to the evil mood. FYI did anyone peep that the witness eyes were completely in darkness back in witch queen when we first saw it-it’s eyes were white with the black pupil
The eyes are probably just a simple design change. The biggest complaints with the Witness, it's nose and eyes, were fixed by making the nose more of a bump and nothing more, but not removing it to make it look like Voldemort or the Didact, and making the eyes black, to make them seem slightly smaller without noticeably changing their physical size

Taken War vet here. I don't condone over hype. But this trailer gives LOTS of promise. The 80s retro vibes from the music and the cyberpunk metropolitan environment to perfectly match it; the Cabal marching in unison likely some nice inspiration from Wolfenstein II, and the ominous new villain with a haunting voice. And yes, that beautiful musical finale at the end being a beautiful calling to us guardians. I'll see y'all star side

I loved the stasis titan slide because it showed potential of new movement abilities with new subclasses. Movement abilities/animations are my favvvv

It looks really amazing, but it's so tonally different from everything that's come before. Definitely playing but I don't really know what to make of it.
Lore wise it’s VERY fitting. We’ve been steadily advancing, you could say into a second golden age, with the eliksni and cabal at our side. This is the battle we’ve been and are going to continue to prepare for until next year. The 80s theme Carries that well.
I was expecting a siege on the last city, I’m pretty disappointed.

From the lines of the witness, I realised I had completely misunderstood him as villian. I was expecting a creature, who believes he is unstoppable and sees everyone else as lesser, which would lead to him being straightforward in combat. But now he gives me more of a charismatic tactitian vibe, who can still kick ass if needed
The thing is - he doesn't NEED to kick ass. He is a God beyond Gods. He doesn't want to be some kind of ruler, nor does he want to be worshipped (might be wrong about that), and neither does he see any purpose in using his absolute power directly. The Witness is all about getting the universe to its final shape, and he does that by showing different races which could become the final shape the path he sees as correct (currently as we know, it's only the Hive, Cabal, Eliksni and Humanity). After all, he is "The Witness". And no amount of Guardians would be able to do anything had he wanted to destroy them, but this is the point: he doesn't. He doesn't care who becomes the final shape: he only cares about getting to it.

So hyped for Lightfall now, I was not expecting this to look so different than the previous D2 content. Very futuristic retro look, I would love it if they went with some like retrowave/synthwave type music for the expansion.
Seems to very much share a theme with Season of the Splicer doesn't it? I wasn't expecting this either and figured they would have The Last City besieged and maybe fall again Red War style (with the Helm being a new social space of sorts) with something perhaps even happening to the Traveler.
Xivu Arath I also believed would have made an appearance by this point but clearly Calus is getting more attention first so he's most likely the raid boss now that he's a Disciple. And I'm sure we'll have Savathun back again in some Lightfall season and likely the same finally for Xivu (my guess would be Savathun and the Lucent Brood become our allies and while she tries to at least convince her sister, I still feel Xivu will remain aligned with the Darkness). My other final guesses at future content for Lightfall seasons would be a Vex / Rasputin themed season and maybe another for the Scorn / and or Taken. But yeah I'm pleasantly suprised though when regarding what we have seen, so I have nothing to complain about and don't at all mind pre-ordering Lightfall + annual pass (it's otherwise sort of rare that I preorder stuff nowadays).

I have been a loyal fan since D1, this looks absolutely brilliant. I’ve always felt like besides the tower, every environment in destiny felt abandoned and feral, so playing in a cyberpunk looking city is going to be amazing

Did you complain that Witch Queen didn't have a cutscene in game of a Hidden agent telling Ikora about the Lightbearer Hive? Or when that one panel could be broken with anything and not just a trace rifle? Maybe even when there was no cutscene of Savathûn walking in the water?
Literally all that's missing is a single weapon that we have confirmations on now.

I have a strong suspicion that Lightfall will be a two sided battle. Calus is tasked with destroying Neomuna, and the Witness goes to destroy the Last City and the Traveler.
Think about it, the marketing says this is The Second Collapse, the apocalypse, and the great battle against The Witness. Why build up the attack on the Traveler, only to pull a fast one and have the story set on Neptune? Because it's only one side of the conflict.
Placing my bets now, the twist of Lightfall will be that the Witness is heading for Earth to confront the Traveler and we might not make it back in time because Calus drew us away with his attack on Neomuna.
My guess is that Calus is a distraction to get us (the strongest Guardians) to leave Earth so the Witness can "infect our Traveler with darkness" (quote from the Vox prophecy) and the raid will be set inside the Traveler and will have us cleansing it

Great sound design on the Witness voice. The perfect melding of multiple (real) voices without distortion. So expertly gives them a dark edge, even though all we've seen them do is stand, walk and look.

One of my biggest issues with this trailer is we never see pyramid ships in the city. They are only in the skybox and there is one above you in the strike, but they do basically nothing in the story. This truely was a cabal DLC, not a darkness DLC like it should have been

Fantastic, absolutely fantastic. I wanted a fresh utopia since I saw how amazing Titan was, I was always a bit gutted we couldn’t have seen it in it’s prime. The super and the whole aesthetic of the environment compliment everything really well.
I miss Titan it was my favorite destination. My friend kept getting mad cause it's only place I'd go for anything xD.

The eyes are probably just a simple design change. The biggest complaints with the Witness, it's nose and eyes, were fixed by making the nose more of a bump and nothing more, but not removing it to make it look like Voldemort or the Didact, and making the eyes black, to make them seem slightly smaller without noticeably changing their physical size

I don't condone over hype. But this trailer gives LOTS of promise. The 80s retro vibes from the music and the cyberpunk metropolitan environment to perfectly match it; the Cabal marching in unison likely some nice inspiration from Wolfenstein II, and the ominous new villain with a haunting voice. And yes, that beautiful musical finale at the end being a beautiful calling to us guardians.
