Every time I run through the channels and try to escape all the world's problems, I am so happy to find this show on, I immediately relax, and am totally interested in what is being presented, I really wish I could keep this feeling even in the factory I work at, but I know I have to leave to find something even close, I'm 62, and still have to work for a while, But I want to figure out how to do something close to this to keep the feeling alive, Thanks, Eric!
Nome needs to have a TH-cam series of tying flies. I have been tying for a few years now and I learned more from her in this 30 minute episode than I have in several other videos. She has a way of explaining things that just make sense. I could watch her tie flies all day.
Wow this video has sparked me to dust off my fly tying boxes and bags to give it another shot. I too get lost in all the materials and gismos flytyers collect and love to catch trout on lakes, ponds and out the river with the flies a tie. It's a touch your soul moment and I love it. Thank you for an inspiring video.
Awesome, agree as a fly tier I tie to fish not display,my greatest treasure is to teach & have that individual catch a fish on their creation, brings me joy & fly fishing & tying causes me to slow down, think & concentrate on the task at hand, tight lines & bent rods 🤘
Thank you for this return to what has made A Craftsman's Legacy great from the beginning. The format is perfect- an amazing guest, interview up front, and Eric'a enthusiasm to learn, all where it should be. Plus the return of the two big questions- "Do you consider yourself an artist or a craftsman?" and "Do you think about your legacy?"
I love this. Great teachers on this program. Just as a laugh for me this reminds me of the red green show. When it comes to teaching it is when Red is making a flye.
I've been a fly tyer for over 50 years and it's always fun to watch others create flies. The big difference between the flies you guys made and what I normally make is the size - I normally tie size 16-20 (which are miniscule compared to yours) for fishing here in Colorado. Another great episode!
I find fly tying to be very therapeutic as well as a great way to stay connected to fishing even when you can't be on the water. Another great episode!
What a truly intriguing craft! I was absolutely in awe of the scope of knowledge involved in creating the beautiful lures! Nome's skill set is so impressive! I always enjoy hearing the details of each craftsman's journey. Her's was so interesting! What a wonderful video, Eric! You & Buddy enjoy your weekend! God bless!!
I got a fly rod for $10 at a yard sale, taught myself how to cast, and proceeded to get tangled up on EVERYTHING. After a few months I figured out what I was doing and what I was SUPPOSED to be doing. I got my flies at Wal-Mart, they were pretty cheap. I caught a LOT of brim ( bream ? ) . I just couldn't catch anything else. So I taught myself how to tie my own flies. They were REALLY BAD. I watched many many videos from orvis, and started tying better flies. There is No feeling that can compare to the first time you catch a 6 pound Large mouth bass on something that was a bare hook a few hours earlier. And knowing that I MADE IT, that made the feeling even better. That was probably 10 years ago now. My flies look WAY BETTER NOW. 😎
Looks great Eric! You know I didn't notice the reveal issue until you pointed it out. One trick I've seen in dealing knots and paint bleed, they took a MAP gas touch to them. Something to contemplate if its becomes an issue. Thanks for sharing. Love your series!!
What a wonderful interview. Here in Utah none of our flies are anywhere near that large because of mountain streams and various trout species. But I enjoyed the lesson on the different materials.
Fascinating episode! I had no idea how much effort went in to making these streamers. They're beautiful and I really like the shimmery accents! I wouldn't be able to use them since they're so pretty! Loved the video and great interview with Nome!
I had to laugh when you ask about her first fly fishing experience. Mine was a little different. My uncle bill gave me a bamboo rod that he had made, pointed at the stream and said "fish" every once and awhile he'd say "your fly's gone again" good times. thanks.
That was really awesome!!🙂 (Thank-you Nome n Eric)I've always fished,learning something new everytime n appreciating nature!👍😎Now if I could only catch,that prize catfish,haha
Another home run sir. Educational and relaxing all at the same time. Thanks to you and your team for doing the work, showcasing these master artisans. You can't beat handmade. (I have another link for you to check out. This man has mad skill: th-cam.com/channels/iDdaCDetfJBhp5o72UP4xA.html I think he's an alien! 😆 Thanks Eric!
How this host finds the coolest, ego-free, amazing folks to explain their craft is an art in and of itself.

@@CraftsmansLegacy Hey Eric, yeah while I was typing, TH-cam rolled over to here. Oh well, your got it.

Two half hitches are known as a clove hitch in the fire service. Awesome video as usual.
Yeah, I was being a smarta##!! Always good to know the true answer though, Thanks!

Haven't u heard of Kelly galloup?
I have. Was in Michigan, Traverse, in the 80s
She is a plant empath. There are 6 types of empaths she is very rare. 🌾🌿🌲🌵
Very interesting
This is a natural high, in that., hours can go by within but a few moments.

Thanks Eric!
Thank you for the kind words and the suggestion!
and she uses norvise very good choice. I have an original norvise
Get ya sum
But, did you catch anything?
Not that time. We had a very small window of time to fish.
That sucks that we never saw a fish on the fly.
Sometimes that’s how it goes!
