    Nice throw-back to the 50's when things were slower, people nicer and a "Sunday drive" was the family thing to do.... Joni Mitchell another great Canadian sang it best...you don't know what you've got till it's gone...

    Sweet! My older brother had a 51 Chevy Deluxe. He sold it for $125.00, near as I can figure, around 1960. I truly enjoy your videos. Your tips have helped me tremendously. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

    Thanks for the great video Fitzee! My mom won a 1950 Chevy Bel Air and it was Green with a white roof. She was just married and buying store bought cigarettes. She won a toaster in a pack of Belvedere and my Dad gave her hell for buying store bought smokes. Being my Mom she continued on doing it and won a new car. My parents were saving for a better car so my Dad suggested they use the money to take a trip to Cape Breton Island and visit my Mom's family. The trip from Brantford, Ontario took 3 whole days!!!

    I just bought a 51 also. The guy I bought it from yanked the engine and transmission out to put into a period correct 1930 Chevy hot rod truck. I have a 77 Buick Skylark that has a 307 and 3 speed auto trans in it that was rear ended a couple years ago so I'm going to cut it up and put the entire front suspension and drive train in the 51 and make it a daily driver/cruise-in car.

    My first car was a 1952 chevy Belair 2 Dr hardtop it was red with a white top. It had a sunvisor and a continental kit on the back. Beautiful leather upholstery with little red and white balls all around the roof on the inside it also had blue lights on top of the dash in the corners of the windshield and red lights under the dash. It had a wind-up clock and an AM radio. I bought it when I was sixteen for $75.00 ( 1966) and it only had 32000 miles and was in mint condition. I left home to enter the army at eighteen and asked my Dad to keep it for me. A few years later he sold it to somebody, and I have never forgiven him to this day. I do like your car it reminds a lot of my 52.

      I've only ever owned 1 new car in my life and halfway through the payment book I thought "This is fu(king crazy, why Am I paying this much for a car". Right before I paid it off I bought a running driving project car and after I got the new car paid off I sold it and put the money in the project car. I will NEVER own a car newer than 1985 because once they went to all the computers and electric everything it ruined the experience of actually driving and they are nothing more than throw-aways bland blobs of plastic, they have no soul.

    Cool car Fitzee : ) It's surprising how much dust was on it even though it was covered with plastic...
    We used to paint our cars back in the 80's with Tremclad paint but I found it stayed soft, like you could scratch it with your fingernails very easily. It wouldn't dry completely. Maybe we should have used some kind of hardener in it.

    • @fitzeesfabrications
      @fitzeesfabrications  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes hardner for shiny colors. Trick is to mix it one to one with a good thinners. Dried up nice. A reducer at about 25 to 50% reduction will stay soft.

      51 and 52 had the same fender chrome, as did the 49 and 50 and 47 and 48 and if you look close they were the same as the other automotive counterparts. Back in those days there was only 1 company who made the stainless steel chrome for cars, Stewart Chrome company of Canton Michigan, they were all the same for every maufactor, My lifelong bestfriends grandpa worked there after coming back from WWII, after he retired in the late 60's they moved to my hometown.
