Great tip! Yes, there’s no reason not to have a pocket on each side. You could also put a zip in the base 😊

@@arosetintedworld4561 Also, having access to the base would allow to change coat hanger if it ever got broken, unless a wire/wooden one was used 🤔 😀

Neat idea! There are so few things to sew for men and boys. I think they would like this and find it useful.

I think that it would be a good idea to make up a few of these covers (not all have to have the safe pocket in them) but don't stitch up the bottom so that you can slide it over the hangers at your hotel/ship. (having your own hangers might stick out a bit) Make sure to have the zipper pocket turned toward the inside of your clothing so it doesn't get noticed.

I added a full length zip in the bottom of mine, for added storage and ease of removing for laundering.
