    this has to be one of the better videos out there showing how to do the blade guides It just changed my whole way of thinking about building mine and cheaper too. Thanks

      I appreciate the complement. I worked a long time to find a solution that was inexpensive and did not take up too much of my cutting width.

    Great video I'm building my own sawmill at the minute, am trying to come up with an idea for the blade guides so this video was really helpful 👍

      glad to hear it. I watched a lot of videos myself before building mine.

      Sean, similar position you were in but figured I’d just buy spare woodmizer blade guides as they’re muuch simpler than this setup

    Love those guides. I recently finished building my bandsaw mill. I am not a machinist. It took me a long time to finish it. It does cut pretty good. It's really amazing how many different ways there are to achieving the same basic result. If I would have seen this video a few months ago I would have copied your system. Clean ,simple. and functional. Bravo.

      I appreciate the feedback.. I spent a lot of time looking at other designs but could not find one that would work. So far it seems to be working well after about 2 months.

    Brilliant idea!! I have always wanted
    to build my own band saw mill in South Africa. Still dreaming 🤣

    I like that overall design! I was planning on buying Cooks guides, but may build something like you did.

    • @kmanbuilds
      @kmanbuilds  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I went thru a lot of idea before I decided on this one. I had looked at the Cooks but as I stated in the video, it would have cost me about 8" of cutting width. It does take a bit to get them set, but they still seem to be working well.

    I was looking at your video it is the best video I have seen yet and how you did the blade guides is a great idea I would like to Copley them on my sawmill but I can't find the v grove bearings if you would tell me where you got them I would thank you very much thank you.

    • @kmanbuilds
      @kmanbuilds  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks. I spent a lot of time researching how others did theirs and this is the only way I could find that would not take up some much cutting width. I believe I found those bearings on Amazon.

    I believe I would use a plain bearing to back the blade, then no strange forces on blade.

    • @kmanbuilds
      @kmanbuilds  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the v bearing has a flat area in the middle that is wider then the blade thickness so it does not seem to be causing any issues.

    I have the same brass barn door V wheels and wanted to ask how they're handling riding the edge of the angle iron track. I was considering laying the angle iron track open side down and having the V wheel to ride on the V edge of the angle iron. Do you think riding the edge is a better way to go?

    • @kmanbuilds
      @kmanbuilds  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I decided to use the edge because I was worried the v-groove might not match the angle of the iron upside down. It also stays very straight without much "wobble". The wheels I have are actually steel and have lasted pretty well so far. One thing I have noticed is they don't roll as smooth as I thought they would be its not that bad.

  • @abc-ed1nr

    What kind of bearings are those? Is it two stacked together or is it one with a groove in the middle?

    • @kmanbuilds
      @kmanbuilds  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am using two stacked together. If needed I can add a third on top but have not needed it just yet.

      @@kmanbuilds dry nice. What width blade are you running? It looks quite wide but maybe those bearings are just really narrow

    • @kmanbuilds
      @kmanbuilds  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Originally, it was 1 1/2" but I have found that it runs better using a 1 1/4" which is what I am using now.
