Steve Martin was a hoot in this movie!! He actually has a very lovely singing voice and he’s a fantastic banjo picker! Check out his record “The Crow”! The man’s fabulously talented!
Just watched this movie with my dad, and despite its hatred and cheesy affects and plot-line, I honestly loved it! Lol. This song is one of my favorites cause its got Steve Martin!
Steve Martin in this! Too perfect. Have to admit I was introduced to The Beatles through this movie (and then, Yellow Submarine). Obviously became a lifelong fan--because of light movies featuring their songs!
The original is one of my ten fave Beatles songs, but even I have to say I enjoy this version much more. It's such a perfect song for Steve's delightfully psychotic performance.
I heard this on Sirius the other day, and had a good laugh on my commute home. I love the Beatles, the original song, Steve, and now this version of it.
I watched this a lot as a little boy. The film's performances are close to my heart, but I understand the hatred of it. It's a poor homage to the Beatles artistry.
FUN FACT: this is the original Maxwells Silver Hammer. Four aspiring musicians collectively called the Beatles used time travel to steal its sheet music.
Not to be negative but was Steve Martin on drugs in this movie. I don't really care if he was but I'll watch this scene and laugh even more if he was. Cocaine is a hell of a drug. But I miss the 70s. I'm 39. I would have been on coke all the time.
First hearing this song back in 1978 at nine years old made me scared of hammers afterwards. Even cried when my mom picked up one to nail a hole in the wall. Dad asked me why I was crying. I mentioned "Maxwell's Silver Hammer," and my dad's reaction was "oh my God, my son's been contaminated by The Beatles." Dad asked where I'd heard it and I snitched on the babysitter for having taken me to see this movie without realizing what I'd done. Hey, I was only nine at the time with an IQ of 67, so I didn't know any better. Before this movie, my parents didn't allow anyone to bring Beatles albums into the house since, as ultra right-wing conservatives, they didn't like John Lennon's antiwar stance.
I love Steve Martin. But this cover is so painful to hear. It lacks all of the subtlety of the original Beatles recording and the lyrics have nothing t so with what's going on onscreen. This song is about a homicidal medical student who kills people with a silver hammer but here he's a doctor who uses it to take fifty years off people bodies? And what was up with that 'Star Wars' lightsabre battle at the end? At one point he muffles a line when a nurse tries to place a surgical mask over his mouth - was she trying to stop him from singing?
This right here shows why Steve Martin is the man
the beatles*

Happy Birthday Steve Martin brilliant comedian ❤🎉🎉
Mr. Kite: Dr. Maxwell, a small time quack who became a big time specialist. Turning ugly old corrupt people into handsome young corrupt people.
The SONG is about a KILLER though. I still LIKE the scene and the flick though (SOME of it anyway).
@@ianfindly3257 He might have found some new _friends_ who got him out of trouble.

The highlight of the movie for me. I was only 5 years old, so that probably has lots to do with it. Always been a fan of Steve Martin.
Steve Martin is such a treasure.
Only thing is I wish they kept that little cry he yelps out when he spots Billy and the others stealing the horn

Songs of my youth ! One of our favorite movies
My favorite cult campy bad movie! It's so much fun! I saw it when it was first released!
It ran every Damn day on HBO in 1979.
Steve Martins over the top performance is right up there with his classic King Tut!!
This version still needs a Steve Martin banjo solo.
They must've given him the lyrics and told him "Steve! GO NUTS!!!"
This movie got me into the Beatles
The original is one of my ten fave Beatles songs, but even I have to say I enjoy this version much more. It's such a perfect song for Steve's delightfully psychotic performance.
Yeah this is one of my favorites as well.
@@markc5771 he certainly made it more "creepy" lol
Love this guy. He is hilarious. Loved him on Little Shop of Horrors too.
I love this music, it reminds me of my family.
Steve Martin. Need i say more?
Happy 75th birthday Stephen Glenn "Steve" Martin 8/13/2020
Wow, he's that old? Now 78. Gee...
Happy birthday actor & comedian Steve Martin different roles he’s done 🎉🎉🎂🤜♥️♥️
One of my favorite musicals, and Jesus Christ super star
I heard this on Sirius the other day, and had a good laugh on my commute home. I love the Beatles, the original song, Steve, and now this version of it.
Only Steve Martin could pull off a Beatles cover like this.
Lol. Yeah. He made it even creepier than the original Beatles version.
Probably the best version of this song ever.
ya😃🎸
It's like this song was written for him to perform
I need to watch this movie again.
+singularityoneone what movie are you tallking abought?
Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. It's really trippy.
Andrew Addams i´m from mexico and i dont know wath trippy means
sala de cine Do you know what "psychedelic" means?
yes.
dippin WAY back. so great!
I think I might like this just as much if not more than the Beatles
Big hit in the USA hit no. 15
Steve Martin had a thing for playing sadistic doctors in musicals didn't he?
That's probably why he's a comical genius, and why SNL kept him on for so many years.
Such a fucking dark beatles song.
Bang Bang 😵🔨
Yet so jaunty.
this whole soundtrack is awesome... I wish they had added the bass solo with struggle with Maxwell and Billy Shears
BEATLES and Stave Martin
You mean, Steve.
Reminds me if Zappa covered this song. I hear Zappa as well as Steve Martin and John Lennon.
Love it.
Zappa is awesome
He sounds like The Red Guy from Cow & Chicken and I'm DYING! 🤣
An actually amazing cover
I honestly prefer this to the original
He IS king Tut forever. Pretty fly for a white guy 😂.
I'm a young teen and I know this move
16 hbu? Just watched it the other day and I love it
I watched this a lot as a little boy. The film's performances are close to my heart, but I understand the hatred of it. It's a poor homage to the Beatles artistry.
What. The. Fuck.
The only part of this movie I really liked was EWF's cover of " Gotta Get You Into My Life " & what the heck, " Get Back " with Billy Preston.
+Daniel Appleton Totally agree about "Get Back." Preston was on the original and really rocked this solo version.
Aerosmith did pretty well with Come Together, not as good as the original but still nice.
Sounds like a 70s porn music
Just discovered this. Now, I know: I know nothing.
It is the fool who knows everything.
FUN FACT: this is the original Maxwells Silver Hammer. Four aspiring musicians collectively called the Beatles used time travel to steal its sheet music.
This album it is masterpiece and you are not going to get it in Itunes
That sure is a long guitar chord intro
He sounds like he’s reading kindergartens a story
Lol. If that were the case, those kids would be scarred for life!
listen to the classic version its much better
Was it really a good idea to incclude this cheerful ditty about a serial killer...and have it sung by Steve Martin?
Yes, it was. Don't like it ... push on off, mouthafucka.
@@QuentinBuetow1970 geez that's a bit much, isn't it?
Sounds like Zappa
What the hell is this song aboot?
A serial killer
Zettabeam62 thankyou
my dad keeps singing this
The lyrics are kinda bad but instrumental wise, this is better than the original.

+Daniel Gurule Hes like nicholas cage. He puts crazy where its not really needed and makes it work really well.
+Daniel Gurule 70's cocaine wasn't shit compared to the shit you can get imported nowadays.
He went out with some friends, and...they got SMALL!!!
but wasn't everyone on drugs in the movie?
@@iHeartsNostalgiaPit nobody was on drugs
Who played the music on these songs?
The Bee Gees and whoever George Martin had as session musicians, I guess.
Larry Carlton saves this one.
Mmmmhmmm

Um, it's part of the joke. Have you ever seen a Steve Martin stand-up routine? He does the most outlandish stuff. He's a very physical comedian.
The only good song in this movie ngl. the bee gees slaughtered sgt pepper.
This is one weird fucking song
And Paul and John wrote it...
The song is ugly, the movie was worst and the version is unbearable
what?, I want yoooou, I want you so bad baby..movie rocks
Corey I know especially watching as a kid
Agreed, it was harder to sit through than Magical Mystery Tour
I do t get the hate for this movie , also I love this version .It's better than the original imo
An awful cover to an awful song.
This rendition of "Silver Hammer" by Steve has officially topped the Beatles' original as my favorite 😀
