My father in law has a buying problem. he goes and gets it if its an incredible deal. So he just got a switch lite for my youngest 5. I have a 7 year old and was waiting for the next nintendo console because switch has been around a lot longer than other consoles and i thought i wait till then. I just wish he didn't get the lite because now i am going to have an older kid trying to take it from his younger brother and I got to get one now later on, hoping to wait till his birthday and will just get the better switch. So glad I found this. this was helpful. just needing to find the right games for him because he isn't very good at it (like a hard newbie, trying not to raise video game addicts).

This is practical realistic advice! I didn’t even think about my kid dropping the screen. I’ll be sure to keep it docked. Thanks

My 5 year old loves Mario Party, Lego City Undercover, Mario Kart, Any Paw Patrol games, and Yoshi's Crafted World.

My son is into video games he’s 6 but has had an iPad since 3 he’s pretty good. Do you have to purchase every single game ?

There are a bunch of free ones that you can download from the e shop as well but those typically won’t be super good ones.

They have a subscription too that allows access to older Nintendo and Super Nintendo games.

Sonic games are way easier than Mario games because Sonic can defeat enemies by jumping and he doesn't need power-ups to have powerful abilities right from the start.

Sooo the Nintendo switch lite is a good choice?

    • @RetroOnly
      @RetroOnly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

For kids I would say no. Not being able to use the Switch Lite when connected to a TV is a big downside with kids as they are far more likely to drop and damage the console than a controller.

It really depends on what your kid prefers. My daughter prefers portable over one fixed location. So I'm going to buy her a Switch Lite for Christmas.

You must’ve missed the part where the Switch sold over 100 million units and a lot of those of sales were for adults…lmao

There's a smart steer feature you can turn on in Mario Kart which makes sure you don't go off track.

My soon to be 3 year old boy

And he actually completed the first 4
    Levels
Same as crash bandicoot he plays that a lot
    And Crash racing Mario kart
To be almost 3 I’m pretty impressed
    This is why I’m here
I’m about to buy him a Nintendo

Buying a high end console isn't worth buying for kids younger than 15 imo. The next gen will be out again before they turn 18 if you buy them one older than 10 so a switch is absolutely the best console for younger kids 14 and under once they hit 15 it'll be all about the big time aaa only titles by that point so if you want to go through that twice go ahead or you can get a switch and then 10 years later get them the new gen when their ready 10 years from now is more than enough time for the new gen to come out

My 7 year old has a blast on the switch as does my 11 year old. We all play it together too on games like Mario Kart and Mario Party.
The switch is 100% kid friendly but if you don’t want your kids playing until 15 that’s cool too

My 5 year old who is highest honor in school, 100% average for 2 years now, perfect all test ever since (which is insanity). Can read and write perfectly since 3, can do basic algebra. Well the secret is that he plays switch since he is 3, I introduced it to him early on and he loved it. Now at 5, he now plays games for 12+. He just finished It Takes Two with his mom recently. Bro got very fast hands.

@@sarahjane81881Sonic the Hedgehog (they came out with a new remake of the original Sonic game. It comes with the original 4 Sonic games, plus a museum full of cool facts and a whole soundtrack of the original music that appeared throughout the gameplay). Basically, it's a super juiced up version of the first 4 Sonic games, all wrapped up into one game for the Nintendo Switch. Plus, Sonic games are way easier than Mario games. Sonic can jump to defeat enemies, but Mario cannot. Mario games usually require a lot more accuracy than Mario games. Plus, Sonic is faster-moving, with brighter colors and cooler details. This definitely appeal to younger kids more
