    I'm travelling to England in a while,and I have prescribed medicine for anemia(liquid form,not over 100ml plus tablets). I know it's not any kind of hard drugs,but I'm still extremely stressed of getting flagged. I will try to get a copy of my prescription,but still ,it seems so stressful. I'm so thankful for this video,helped lots!!

      If it's under 100ml you are really not going to have any issues. If you are going to store it in your bag of liquids you won't even need to take it out otherwise, if you are going to keep it separate then just tell the security officer that you have it. If you can keep it it's original container and it's labeled you will be just fine.

    As a person who has a multitude of chronic illnesses including severe chronic pain, I opt to get a strip search so that TSA staff don't have to pat me down, although if they must, then I do instruct them to use hard/firm pressure opposed to their training of light pressure because light pressure causes me to end up ugly crying and often yelping and screaming from pain and can trigger tic attacks that lead to a tic attack/vomiting cycle.

    I’m getting ready for a trip in Feb to fl and I am diabetic and wear insulin pump and Dexcom. Will they let me bring a 8 oz bottle of unisolve which is adhesive remover for the pump and Dexcom or will I have to check it? Unfortunately, you will probably have to check as I don't think it would be considered medically necessary. You could however put it into two 3.4oz containers and be able to carry it that way if you want to avoid having to check a bag. Just remember all your liquids will need to fit in one clear quart-sized bag.

    I was wondering you talked about cpaps and bipap but what about triology ventilator? I have CCHS so my brain doesn't tell me how to breathe in higher altitudes, if I go for a jog, strenuous activities or when I sleep etc. What about having humidifier water bags for fisher paykel? If I don't have that for sleep my insides get dried out like a prune. I use oxygen only for deep suctioning do I need to bring professional notes from doctors or travel prescription etc.

      Hi Angela, No problem to take the ventilator with you. Just make sure you have a letter from your doctor explaining your medical need for the devices your are bringing. Empty humidifier water bags are ok to bring with you through security. If there is a certain type of water that you need to pack that would be hard to get at your destination then you will need to pack the water in a checked bag.

    • @BenDreamVacations
      @BenDreamVacations  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It's really up to the airline you are flying on. If they see you with a carry-on and two bags then they will probably ask you to check one of your bags especially if the airplane is completely full. One trick that I have used to get around this is to get a to-go bag from a Starbucks or something similar once inside the airport and put some of your items in there. They won't question the extra bag because it will look like you just bought some food inside the airport to bring onto the plane with you.

      If they are in pill form you can pack as much as you need without issue. If they are in a liquid or aerosol form you will need to declare them to the TSA officer before going through security. If you have a prescription bring that with you. And it helps to have your medication in its original container.

    Thank you for this helpful video. I have a few questions for you and appreciate any clarification you may provide.
    Why is a port considered an external medical device? The port is surgically implanted fully underneath my skin. Also, why are nebulizers, CPAP, BIPAP, and APAP considered non external? Those devices seem external based on my understanding of the devices and the term external. I am just confused. Am I missing something obvious?
    Lastly, do you know any possible reason why medically necessary instant cold packs have been confiscated from me a few times?

    • @BenDreamVacations
      @BenDreamVacations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Steph. Thank you for your questions.
      A port in itself in not an external medical device, but it is associated with connecting an external device to it. For that reason it falls under the external device category.
      For your other question, the TSA only considers a device to external when it is actively attached to your body when going through security. I probably should have labeled that differently or clarified that point better but I appreciate you pointing that out. I can see how that can be confusing.
      As far as medically necessary instant cold packs, they should not be confiscated from you. I am not sure why they would be. Did they give you an explanation as to why they confiscated them?

      As far as I know there is no limit to how much insulin you can carry with you. You may want to double check with the TSA directly to make sure. www.tsa.gov/contact/customer-service. Make sure to have the insulin labeled along with a doctor's note. Also, you will need to check with the country you are visiting to make sure you can carry that much insulin with you into the country.
