I put up a Chain Link extension to my existing fence.....bought the actual chain link and post rails. but used 1" PVC pipe and other PVC fittings for for the top rail, etc. The fence is not "weight bearing" ....just a cosmetic extension. The results have been tremendous. Used high quality grey spray primer to "pull" it all together......at just over 1/2 the cost of using solely chain link hardware. Did it just as Covid was hitting (just before prices went insane)....been over 2 yrs and it still looks perfect....indistinguishable from my other fencing.
Me and 2 of my coworkers watched this and actually what cost him is that it’s vinyl and black coated materials. That is twice as expensive as galvanized mesh and product. Also the “coloured” posts are supposed to be thinner because it’s more of a compromise between ornamental and galvanized fence.
As a fence contractor. We do shop around for better prices. For customers. As for chain link fabric. Most folks want the cheaper fence. And they will tell you that
I put up fence and it depends what type of fence you're using usually in residential to use the cheaper grade stuff but if it's a state or federal job then everything has to be scheduled 40 and the chain link has to be 9 gauge the cheaper ones are like 11.5 gauge those are the type that you get at Menards and Home Depot and Lowe's fencing ain't cheap though
I agree I did the same but where I messed up was the people I hired they did it all wrong and I lost big-time. Now I have to redo or reinforce everything I'm thinking of instead of the tension cable at the bottom I'm going to put rebar 20 ft joints all across the bottom maybe drilling holes through the poles and pass rebar through them. The dudes didn't know how to install the tension cable wire and it looks embarrassing. I tried to help them by giving them work and it's frustrating but now since they're here I have to teach or explain what I want.
Ya I agree. We try to give people work but in the end, we gotta do it ourselves lol if you get a professional , then it's thousands more... if we get people that don't know what their doing... it's thousands more to fix their mistake I'll just do 200ft myself lol cause I know I'll do it right the first time
You have to know the vinyl-coated stuff isn't a fair comparison to galvanized, right? If you switched to galvanized for your second fence, that comparison may not be the most fair.
I buy my posts hardware fencing used at local fence co & everything is heavy duty gauge on posts & the fencing, I wont buy any major fencing or posts from big box stores they are way too high & quality is none..
Im in texas. Home deopt, Loews, tractor supply way thin stuff. Yes my moms old chainlink. We could and can now at 150lb plus guy can hop that thang no problem. Typical theses days HOW CHEAP CAN WE MAKE IT
I need to put a fence around my koi pond. My pond is at a corner of my property so 2 sides are already fenced in with a wooden privacy fence. So basically i need two sides to fence it off. About 60-70 ft worth plus a gate. But I dont know the exact supplies i need to buy, caps, hardware etc.. Can you help figure this out for me? Ive never done this in my life.

Try that fence in Australia be about $15000.colour bond fence best to use as gives privacy
Man inflation is crazy, those $5 line posts back in 2020 are more like $15 now.

Make one yourself.
People install fences all over. Google it. Something will come up in your area. We could do it but obviously not in wisconsin. Good luck.
I fell on my fence and it not only weak but brittle from my experience it snapped
I can't do it myself because I work out of town

It isn’t “it costed me” - it’s “it cost me” ;)
thanks yous! ;)

Costed?
the 100 foot galvanized steel fence costed about $600-700. I think the black vinyl coated chain link from Menards ended up costing about $3,000
600-700 for 100 foot galvanized steel fence including its materials?
tahnk you...

Halfway through the video and you've said the fence "costed" you 3000 at least six times. This could be a 30 second video.

Go to farming, never Home Depot
Great video and mostly correct. But for God's sake. Google fence installers. We are all over.
