Lin is one of the smartest players on tour. He developed flick variations to deal with every type of serve, usually anticipates the 3rd ball, and is seldom surprised - he is always prepared to grasp the advantage if the returning ball is slow, which won him a lot of points.
In this match his rallying is still slightly weaker than Ma Long, but Lin doesn't allow long rallies. He has a consistent game plan that finishes the rally in less than 5 shots, and coupled with Ma Long's slower reaction time, was able to win convincingly.
after 6 month, Gongrats LIM! he did beat Ma and make the history in WTT Frankfurt .

MA Long definitely declining. He’s been defeated by WANG Chuqin multiple times recently. Fortunately for Chinese team, FAN is still at his peak. WANG is very strong now. LIANG maintains his level. LIN (shidong, not gaoyuan) is good backup for the 3.

Why do they keep saying Lin Win Ru for Lin Yun Ju?
Because it's inexplicable who comes up with these English spelling for their names when they don't seem to make much phonetic sense.
His name is spelled "yun-ju" in Wade-Giles system, instead of "yunru" in the pinyin system used in China. No one uses Win-Ru, I believe.
Cus he doesn't know how to say it absolutely accurately😅and that's fine. Cut him some slacks man. I'm sure you don't speak every language either

Exactly by the commentator for this match, Adam Bobrow. It has been commonly used for a while. Even Lin himself seems to love this nick name. Why not?
Watching Longr for the last year, I noticed that sometimes he plays at 70% of his abilities and he is tired of tennis.
He wants to be replaced by younger players and retire.
Perhaps he revised his life priorities towards the family.
He is strong physically, but mentally he has emotional exhaustion!
so that is why he lost, so lin yun ju is just a regular player nothing special about him? just ma long who don't like the game...oh shut up already, ma long wanted to win but he couldn't because lin yun ju is just too good
A bit of a reach here. Ma Long obviously slowes down due to his age. 20 year old ma long was obviously quicker then 30 year old ma Long.
