@@popsafan4676 the style used a lot of ballet moves though this times rather than contemporary. Like the two lifts are more ballet and the partner dance between a “man and women” even though jimin and jk still danced to it which makes it amazing. They had the same move sets that black swan the ballet had.
@@ventisprout1119 so, just for background, I am a dancer and do both ballet and contemporary as well as other forms of dance. About 10 hours a week, so it is not quite recreational... Anyways, so I get what you are saying with the ballet, it does have ballet moves, BUT, contemporary often does use a lot of ballet elements and lifts are often found in contemporary dances. For example, for my eisteddfod (competition) dance that I am currently in, we do have lifts and ballet moves/elements. The reason that I DO believe it is contemporary, is that: a) Jungkook's solo at the beginning is definitely not ballet and actually would lead towards a more what I call "kpop" style. (contemporary is often abstract includes many styles so even having "kpop" elements works.) b) the lifts where THe lifts where RM, Jin, and other people essentially 'walk in mid air' is not ballet. c) The first half of Jimin's and Jungkook's duet is not ballet (where jimin s swivelled on the ground) d) many other places aren't quite ballet moves e) the style they bring to the dance isn't ballet and doesn't have the same discipline ( i am not saying that they don't have discipline, ballet just needs A LOT of technique and control, and it is very restricting (in my opinion, I much prefer contemporary as you can move your body pretty much any way that helps tell the emotion/story) f) if you look at the backup dancers, although many moves are inspired from ballet, many also aren't. (for example, one that caught my eye, near the beginning, the Penché (or arabesque tilted) into the forward roll, is not something that I have seen in ballet) - Also, I would like to note, traditionally, lifts are done between the male and female because the females are light enough to be carried (although they need strength to because lifts like the one jK and JM did are really hard for the person being carried because you have got to have strong core muscles to be able to support yourself) and the males are strong enough to carry. However, in modern contemporaries, and some ballet's I believe- maybe not though- there can be males lifting males. THis is obviously the case hear as JImin must be light enough for JK to lift. So, I think I may have went a little overboard (sorry), but I hope this explains why I believe the things I do, also, I am not trying to put you down, I absolutely agree that this dance has elements and inspirations from ballet. Like the actual lift itself, and the large ensemble as well as the atmosphere. So, yeah. Sorry if this offends you in any way!!

Jimin and Jungkook’s part was one of most beautiful, emotional and memorable performance I have seen this year..together with Jimin’s solo performance in Black Swan❤️

@@pagesinked Where do you get it from that it was freestyle? It was the same choreo both days with slightly different timing. The MV choreo was not improvised either. He might have made it himself, but in was not freestyle.
some professional ballet dancer on twitter called it "pas de deux" dance,,,and that Jimin amd Jungkook had trust in each other in this dance and the video was out already in bangtantv.
I just curious and rewatched bangtantv version. In my opinion there are 2 cuts on the video because there's a different angle of the camera and it's impossible to changed outfit that fast. I don't know if it's same "changed outfit" trick like Jimin Filter or not 😄
I wish words could convey just how impeccable that part was with Jimin and jungkook. The sheer amount of talent, trust, core strength, stability, and dedication it took to do those moves is just astounding. And the fact that these moves are typically done between a man and a woman, BTS truly are breaking down barriers with stereotypes and it is truly historic. I will never get over how incredible that part was with them, it brought me to tears! 👏🏻
their skills and advantages complete each other's so well in a way I haven't seen in classically trained traditional, male-female duos, and the product is absolutely magical
I know right! It’s so cool to see especially since they’re 2 guys and normally you’d expect this from a male and female. They pulled it off so effortlessly and beautifully 💜
A reason why they didn't do the full black swan song and choreo might be because Suga’s recovery. He has two verses in the original, which makes up for quite a lot of the full song. Considering they chose not to replace his parts in any of the songs they've performed on both MMA and MAMAs it makes sense to turn Black swan into an intro performance like this!
Also this year MMA there were more artists who have showed their performances(remember last year whole SM & YG didn’t show up) so their performances time might have to be shortened.
Jimin is the best dancer I've ever seen in my life. He mastered 4 different choreographies for black swan.. the original one, the solo dance in the mv, his solo dance break in mots: one, and the mma stage AND managed to perform all of them beautifully HIS CAPABILITIES ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD.
If JM chose to be a pro dancer, I think he could have been a renowned dancer now. I think this is why his teacher tried to stop him from being an idol bec it's a huge loss for the dance world. It's amazing also that you mentioned figure skating here, bec Yuzuru Hanyu (the goat of figure skating) is a fan of JM. He is studying Jimin's dance body lines to be used in figure skating. Nevertheless, Jimin is such an amazing dancer. He may not be the best out there in the dance world, but he is truly an amazing artist. His dance lines are superb and gorgeous. JK did a really good job too as JM's support here. They aren't called the Dynamic Duo for nothing.
Have you seen how much of the floor Jimin and travel in such a short amount of time and he's not really that tall either he's quite tiny. I'm always amazed how he can almost glide along the floor from one side of the stage to the other at speed.
Jikook have always had good chemistry. I mean we all remember that move from No more dream right? And Jungkook wasn't even buff back then so it also shows that you need teamwork instead of one person doing all the work.

While you can't see a close-up of JK being over Jimin right before they fly Jimin forward, you can see a lot of other things more clearly, including how members leave and come in. I think the only thing that was cut in was the black outfits but everything else was a one-shot take. This performance was absolutely stunning, and Jimin and JK stole the show of course. Just.. wow, all of it.
"A lot of it is core, that's why dancers have abs." This is such a true and important statement. I have been dancing for years, but only when I learned about this could I start to improve.
OMGosh HOW I have been WAITING to see your react to this Jeff!!! Your reaction, with the joy of seeing what you see & giving us the technical breakdown is so fascinating! But first off I have to tell you I cried when I first saw that they put Jikook together at the very beginning of the MMA Black Swan stage - not only because it was Jikook who I adore. No, it was SO significantly monumental because it featured these two beautiful men in roles that had been traditionally made for a male and female dancer i.e. Prince Siegfried & Odette, as it IS loosely based on swan lake for sure. Talk about Jikook breaking & blasting gender stereotypes to bits! Jimin again the most beautiful WHITE-turn-Black-Swan & his performance was excellence personified & I LOVE how Jungkook was an excellent foil & support for him!!! What is also So heart grabbing is that Jikook had to rely on their unbreakable bond of trust, love & comfort with each other to make it work. AND my god HOW beautifully It WORKED! Which is why the opening moved so many, many people, including dancers from all genres raving about Jikook's segment - and it trended globally. It is certified LEGEND & Jikook is LEGEND! BTS outdid themselves at MMA2020 - and I LOVED every one of them & their genius. I also LOVED that all BTS did this version and all members did a bit of contemporary AND were AMAZING! I just wanted to say that we’re so thankful for your hard work on analyzing so many performances! It’s probably super overwhelming right now considering there were just two back to back award shows, so please take your time! I was exhausted just from WATCHING mama for 6 hours straight, so i can’t imagine analyzing almost every performance. Stay healthy💕
I died when I saw the notif, because I really wanted Jeff to react to this and side by side you learn more about the moves, Jeff always makes it educational
I was waiting for this reaction I love as you explain so well the terms that even for someone like me who doesn't know about it, is able to understand 🤭
Your analysis was very educational, thank you. I found the performance extraordinary in that the masculine elements were celebrated as well as the cerebral core of the lyrics. I could watch it all day. Props to the supporting dancers, they are showcased as artists and not just window dressing. That ripple cannon stopped my breath. Good job, stay well
Theres a behind the scenes video of one of the rehearsals and you can see the dancers dragging Jungkook back after his jump. I think this shows even more the fight in the storyline of the dance. Something we just get a small glimpse of in this version, but you have to pay attention really closely to catch it. Again, love your break down. So nice to hear someone talk about it instead of only just responding
I don’t know if anyone pointed out to you or not but at the end, the imagery is of a black swan flapping its wings with Jin being the head of it and you can see dancers feet being the tail sticking up .. it’s quite beautiful
It's beautiful & amazing to see RM dance bc he has said on numerous occasions that he didn't think about having to do as much of it during the formation of BTS. Since Jimin is my bias my eye is drawn to his performances (and Hobi's as well) but RM is so masterful that I find myself tracking his dance moves more & more. 🥰
@@shelleyburr3988 Yes RM is better than he gives himself credit for. I've watch him through their careers and seen how much he's improved he's a dancer now.
So the physics in bringing your arms in is to make the spin faster and smoother. You start of with your hands apart and when you bring your hands in (making your body compressed into one straight line) the spin momentum increases
I really like how you break the dance down and how so much teamwork goes with the choreography. For a performance similar to mma I recommend MAMA in Japan 2018 BTS performance
Thank you so much for your detailed analysis of their BS performance, I am waiting for someone to analyze their performance from a person with knowledge abt ballet and or contemporary. It is so satisfying to see how you breakdown the performance your explanation abt their parts and how you point out that is a team effort of both Jimin and Jungkook unlike what some ppl are spreading that Jimin only did the bare minimum and he is only "being lifted" by Jungkook. Both of them contributed at alot in this performance, they worked so hard to make it such a great performance that will go down in the history of MMAs great performances
did anyone else see the resemblance between the beginning of ON here at the MAMAs and the scene in the middle of the MV from N.O? the part with them walking down the stairs and the people with the instruments standing on the side
Yes because their choreography consists of different parts of old choreos...they basically didn’t dance something new but the constellations of both dancing together was new.
@@bumeran7094Yeah, they love to use older moves or lyrics etc. In their new songs like Suga's "big house, big cars, big rings" was in 'Shadow' and couple more songs. Or the intro, the stairs, to 'ON' was the same as the part in 'N.O' MV. It's cool they make these connections and references.
Actually, generally, in figure skating, you would pull to either the right side - for those who rotate left - or to the left side - rotating right - and would only ever pull to the center on spins
I was waiting for this 😍 i was hoping to see you reacting to all the performance or even this and dynamite, but this for your style was the most important 😊 If You Want, there's a stagecam video of this to see every detail (Bangtan TV uploaded it), from the perspective of who was there watching them... There were probably cuts, it was an amazing performance💜
I was SO Excited for you to see this! Wanted to see your Dynamite reaction too, not so much the ON performance because we already saw them do ON that way at music shows. EDIT: Ah I wanted to add that they have full focus version up now and you can see JK and Jimin's lift without the camera work and editing/slo mo, and I also wish that they had done the full Black Swan choreo as well! It might have been cut for time, BUT also I think it was not done because Yoongi has a huge part in the song and without him the full choreo just does not work because the sections involving him would just be either JK at the beginning alone or Hobi alone at some point, so I think they chose not to do it without him.
Well weeks later and I've eaten my words bc they just did Black Swan choreo for SBS Gayo Dejeon and did solo parts for SUGA's sections lol *clown emoji*
I love this reaction video! Very detailed and educational at the same time. Kudos!! 💜💜💜 my first time here in your channel. And won’t be the last for sure
Id assume partly for the impact of it just being an awesome beautiful intro and also Suga has tons of parts in the Black Swan song and just having his parts playing for such long parts of the choreo wouldn't have had the emotional impact that this version did I think. But that's just me :). They also would've had to switch to a different version of the song because with the intro being the pure orchestral arrangement without any of the singing overlaid they would've had to either start the orchestral version from the beginning again but with them singing on top (again would be tricky without Suga) or have to switch to the album version arrangement which still has the same issue and also would sound weird hearing the whole progression and build up and release through the orchestral to then start all over with the same song but a different version not sure how that would go. I'd imagine maybe now they've brought everyone in on a dance number (I'd imagine Suga would've been in the centre of the Jin and RM section as it seemed like there was some space for him, but not sure if they finalised this choreo after he already had his surgery or before, who knows) for orchestral arrangement they might elaborate on it in future performances maybe. Thanks for the video :).
Jeff, go to Bangtantv - bangtan bomb for the black swan intro. It is the actual performance without the video effects and from the point of view of cameras. Yes there is actually water on the stage. the corp dancers get wet.
I can actually see jimin and jungkook trying ice dance,or at least the lift. I mean, they have the strength of the supporting partner and the grace of the other
5:29...If you slow down the frame, I think you can see Jungkook holding onto Jimin's feet to propel him upwards to get the height. Memorable performance...Jimin and Jungkook nailed it!!
I think they didn't do black swan fully because yoongi has 2 parts in that song and they made the decision to not have anyone cover his parts and just use the backing in the performances for all of youngi's parts so they probably chose not to do the full song because of the amount of the performance that would not be sung live.
I've been actually waiting for this one!! I wish you could also react to DYNAMITE MMA performance with the dance break which is PHENOMENAL!!! ps. pls react to GFRIEND

OMG THIS ONE IS THE BEST I LOVE IT
Finally, someone explained it! I was waiting for a clear explanation of the performance, thank you!!
That looks like ice shaking, really cool!
Yasss i have been waiting for this!
Between Jungkook and Jamin you see those performance more often in figure skater
Has Jeff reacted to jimin’s solo black swan stage during BTS online concert or not coz that one is just as amazing
Good job, stay well
i hsve like 11 assignments to do but..........
JEFF COMES FIRST SISSS-
I absolutely love your channel and i watch every video that you upload
Theres a behind the scenes video of one of the rehearsals and you can see the dancers dragging Jungkook back after his jump. I think this shows even more the fight in the storyline of the dance. Something we just get a small glimpse of in this version, but you have to pay attention really closely to catch it.
Again, love your break down. So nice to hear someone talk about it instead of only just responding
Thank you for reacting to this
#1 dancer in the world. How is he able to do all genres of dance like he can’t be real
I don’t know if anyone pointed out to you or not but at the end, the imagery is of a black swan flapping its wings with Jin being the head of it and you can see dancers feet being the tail sticking up .. it’s quite beautiful
oh thank god u are giving this an analysis!! :'D i've seen too many just being like "oohhh wau" and that's it e.e .....so ty !!!!! ^^
i really love how Namjoon looks here...with his white costume and that hair style 💚
overall the performance is really beautiful 💜
It's beautiful & amazing to see RM dance bc he has said on numerous occasions that he didn't think about having to do as much of it during the formation of BTS. Since Jimin is my bias my eye is drawn to his performances (and Hobi's as well) but RM is so masterful that I find myself tracking his dance moves more & more. 🥰
@@shelleyburr3988 Yes RM is better than he gives himself credit for. I've watch him through their careers and seen how much he's improved he's a dancer now.
thanks for your explanation... i can't wait to see your reaction on the Dance Practice/Rehearsal of this performance (if BH would release it)
I’ve been waiting for this one 😭
So the physics in bringing your arms in is to make the spin faster and smoother. You start of with your hands apart and when you bring your hands in (making your body compressed into one straight line) the spin momentum increases
if i could give this several thumbs up I would, this is the first video to clearly explain what we are seeing thanks. the boys are talented
Jimin y Jeonkuk espectaculares 👑💛🐣🎉😊💘🎂🐰🐰💕
I like your reaction/analysis. Some of my thoughts were "confirmed" and learned some new stuff too. ♡
Aaaaaaaaah I'm glad you reacted to this, but please watch the MMA's DYNAMITE, especially the SURPRISE at the end...
There is no cut, you have to see their concentrate on artist video, the backup dancers covered and rushed JK and Jimin to the back
I love your analysis! So professional.
V and J-Hope part remainds me of thier part in DNA.
Was waiting for this reaction since I saw MMA. I knew Jeff would love it. ♡
I’m so happy now
Actually, generally, in figure skating, you would pull to either the right side - for those who rotate left - or to the left side - rotating right - and would only ever pull to the center on spins
I was waiting for this 😍 i was hoping to see you reacting to all the performance or even this and dynamite, but this for your style was the most important 😊
If You Want, there's a stagecam video of this to see every detail (Bangtan TV uploaded it), from the perspective of who was there watching them... There were probably cuts, it was an amazing performance💜
I came here because you are so pretty 🤩 but stayed for the reaction, loved it!
Was waiting on your reaction to this. Thank you for explaining it. ❤❤
World class performance and performers 💜💜😍
Thank you, Jeff
I was really waiting for your reactiooon!!! Love u and BTS 💜
This is pure art i'm still under effect
bts mma dynamite dance break ! *chef kiss
I was waiting for this! Thank you
I love this reaction video! Very detailed and educational at the same time. Kudos!! 💜💜💜 my first time here in your channel. And won’t be the last for sure
I've been waiting for this!!! but would you react to the full MMA performance? PLEASEEEE
IM HERE
Jungkook is not a contemporary dancer but he practice and dit it perfectly
Jungkook is the most. versatile dancer that why he nails every Dance style
Yeah a lot of parts of Black Swan involve Yoongi, he has the most lines in it too. :(
Huaa finally, your reactionn!!!
You should watch and react to the rest of the performance. It is amazing!!!!!
Thank you...you have to watch dynamite in mma too...the dance break was so 💜💜💜💜💜💜
Yes i wanted you to react to this so much!!! 😍
Jikook are the love of my life!
Jeff, go to Bangtantv - bangtan bomb for the black swan intro. It is the actual performance without the video effects and from the point of view of cameras. Yes there is actually water on the stage. the corp dancers get wet.
A big shout out to all the back up dancers in black swan
I can actually see jimin and jungkook trying ice dance,or at least the lift.
I mean, they have the strength of the supporting partner and the grace of the other
5:29...If you slow down the frame, I think you can see Jungkook holding onto Jimin's feet to propel him upwards to get the height.
Memorable performance...Jimin and Jungkook nailed it!!
You must to watch mma2020 Dynamite new dance breake ♡
I think they didn't do black swan fully because yoongi has 2 parts in that song and they made the decision to not have anyone cover his parts and just use the backing in the performances for all of youngi's parts so they probably chose not to do the full song because of the amount of the performance that would not be sung live.
For what i know the step in which Jungkook lifts Jimin it's called Pas de Deux
V and Jhope have been a pairing before. Here they did choreography that was a throwback to their dancing in DNA.
I've been actually waiting for this one!! I wish you could also react to DYNAMITE MMA performance with the dance break which is PHENOMENAL!!!
ps. pls react to GFRIEND

Jimin, tho, looked ethereal 💜💜💜
They actually formed a black swan at the end with Jin in the front. It took me a little to realise.
I wish they would have done full Black Swan choreo! Of course I don’t know for sure, but I assumed they didn’t since Yoongi has 2 verses in Black Swan. Either way, this performance was stunning and I enjoyed their other stages too!
