Great contents , Gents.... Shehryar Hydri you have a very thoughtful and broad prospective on Angle & VC landscape in Pakistani. I had did not realize that Pakistan is (finally) making some good headways on financing side of new ventures. For me as an overseas Pakistani, with a C-Suite back ground, this Podcast is a breath of fresh air. Last but not least, many thanks Naeem Sikander for doing this podcast......it is very informative and greatly valuable. Given time i would explore your other podcasts/channels...... Tariq Malik , Miami
@Naeem I have been investing in Pakistani startups since many years on the seed level / advisor since many years and even coaching since 2017. Through my group PakistanStartups which is one of the largest group since 2013 helping 126K people everyday I agree with Shehryar alot. When I myself left my job from IBM partner in 2012 I went to Plan9 Incubator I never got access to funding. Its great that Jehanara and Faizan and others have done wonderfully to grow this market. It is very difficult as the comprehension of founders is not for problem solving yet is for money only. I can go on for a whole bit that what issues exists.
Things have improved drastically over the last five years but we still have a long long way to go. The recent developments are not encouraging at all but lets see what we have next year.
He is always down to help the founders. Such a kind person. Totally agree with Shehryar 10 years from now will be totally different startup ecosystem for Pakistan.
Shehryar, I know there is a boom of SaaS and fintech startups in Pakistan, and VCs are also taking interest in investing in them. However, what about the startups that are manufacturing hardware and are striving to scale-up globaly, is there any VCs interest to invest them?
Hardware is hard as it is and unfortunately there isn't an organised sector in Pakistan around the manufacturing ecosystem. For this vertical, it's easier to raise from international VC's that specialise in HW or IOT etc than from local VCs.
Let say i have an experience of manufacturing plastic products and now I want to start a buisness where I can make plastic products with different recipes and I have those physical products in my hands, as a technical person I don't have any knowledge to test this product in the market, let say I don't have any knowledge to test its feasibility, is there any well know companies in Pakistan who can help me out to test the market value of that product globally? If yes, can you please recommend?
