The Veluwe - mythical and utterly beautiful woodlands in the Netherlands - is the setting for Heidevolk`s fifth album Velua. Using this as a backdrop, the Dutch folk / pagan metal act paints a dark picture of ghosts, goblins and brigands in order to raise a monument for Gelderland: anthemic folk parts, clean male vocals and gritty metal provide the perfect soundtrack for the listener`s journey to the sylvan halls of Velua!

This band has made me start learning dutch, because its a nice and funny language to learn as a german. Very great band as well!

It seems dutch fits really well to pagan/viking metal music. Het is zo mooi liedje : )

These guys are really about it. You can see on their expression the Passion. It's not just about the money. You can feel the Power in thus music. One of my favorite bands.

I don't know man it's probably me understanding what they are saying. To a lot of dutch people some of these lyrics would sound really whimpy. It's a cultural thing mostly.
Ik heb ook niks tegen Heidevolk hoor. Integendeel ik luister naar steeds meer van hun muziek. Ben gewoon nooit gewend geraakt aan het feit dat het in het Nederlands word gezongen.

I'm glad they know what they're good at, and what makes their music so appealing to their fans. They're not like Turisas, who, in their attempt to write something "new," ended up alienating the fanbase who loved _To Holmgard and Beyond_ and _Battle Metal_.
Sometimes innovation _is_ a bad thing.
I don't think that was so much innovation as writing and recording the album in couple of hours.

there is 1 thing though in the clip the guards carry swords and no shield that would probably not be there gear they would have had round shields and a spear because swords where crazy expansive
