  • Kibnesh, an Ethiopian woman, has used her Oxfam ABCD training to become self-sufficient and successful, and is changing traditional ideas of a woman's role in her community.
By focusing on a community's strengths and supporting a process called "Asset-Based Community-Driven" development, or ABCD, tremendous advances are being made by Oxfam Canada and its local partners.
Instead of focusing on a community's weaknesses, Oxfam, in close collaboration with the Coady International Institute and three local Ethiopian non-governmental organizations (NGOs), is helping communities identify and build on their assets and capacities - what they know, what they do, the resources they can tap.

#ABCD is such an awesome approach. It magically changing lives. I am happy to be using this beautiful approach in Nigeria presently to empower grassroots youths to translate their education into sustainable social solutions.
