    There's only three ways to get the disc from in your hand to flying through the air, PULLING, DRAGGING, AND LAGGING.
    The further you move up the scale from pulling to lagging, the further you will be able to throw, the more effortless your distance will be, and the more fun you'll have when you get to head out to the course and demolish your friends 😈
    If you want to have the tools to see WHERE YOU ARE ON THE SCALE from pulling to lagging, make sure you download the free guide linked below, so that you can find out where you are, and progress upwards.

    This video is super helpful. I’ve discovered that I’m a dragged because I have been pulling the disc into the power pocket instead of letting it lag. I love how this video doesn’t just tell you what to to do, it teaches you how to coach yourself!

    I'm a puller and I can say from my experience I do feel disconnected between my arm and my body when I'm throwing. That's the best way of explaining what I'm feeling, and it's good that your video confirms it for me. I'm trying to stop pulling but I've been unable to do that. I'll check out your guide and see what I can do. Thank you!

    Congrats on being the first to get out such a concise, easy to follow guide! (FYI there is a typo/missing word in the very first section)
    Let’s talk follow through. If I really loosen up my throwing arm I worry about hyperextending my shoulder and/or elbow in the follow through. Am I right to assume the best in the game let their throwing arm go loose only for the split second they need to? The timing is mind boggling. How do you think about your throwing arms looseness vs engagement during the throw? Thanks. Found your channel recently and it rocks!

    • @BensBigDrive
      @BensBigDrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much for the feedback!! That's a great question, in a perfect throw, the throwing arm tension comes from timing and being in the right position instead of pulling, so keeping the arm "loose" is really just allowing it to become tense from the rotation of your body. Very complicated stuff, and I am not a doctor so this is not at all medical advice, do NOT do things you are uncomfortable with, but if done correctly this should be controlled enough to where this shouldn't be an issue. Also, your body is very good at not hurting itself, so it usually won't let itself make a destructive movement. But take it slow and feel comfortable before you try anything. Hope that helps!

Based on the guide, I think I'm a pull-dragger but not 100% sure. But.. the arm want to round outwards automatically, so you would need to drag the arm into the powerpocket right? My problem right now is (i am a dragger btw) that even tho i do not reach behind my body, i still round.. i try to get the disc to the powerpocket, but every video shows the disc going away from me too early. My lower arm sort of rotates as my body rotates. How can we make that not happen?

  • @angieb8941

    I find throwing a nova helps me determine if I am throwing correctly. I watch clips of Valerie Mandujano and then I throw into a net and watch it immediately. I make corrections before throwing again. I throw a nova with the goal of no wobble. I throw a nova while playing. If I pull the disc through, the nova will fly right wing down. I also do stand still drills before throwing. And for real fun, I practice stand still throws in virtual reality using my quest 2 and the app off the chains disc golf.

    • @codyhall1636
      @codyhall1636 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Throwing a nova helps so much. I had one that was beat in and there is no other disc on the market that flys like that. I had to quit throwing them because they were unreliable off the tee due to breaking where the plate meets the rim. A similar disc to the nova that is slept on and is great for form work is the Classic Grid Aviar. Very neutral flight and similar profile to the nova. I like warming up with 5 and trying to put them all in the same spot flat, hyzer, and anny.

    • @angieb8941
      @angieb8941 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Two of my novas have cracks there too! I bought from Valerie Mandujano the Nova that she threw at worlds. It has cracks. I don’t throw it anymore. I only use them for practice at this point, I wouldn’t use them in competition or even casual play. I would throw my envy instead. It is just a testament to Valerie’s incredible technique that she throws them so consistently and on angles. Yep, I am a fangirl.

    So are you saying that we should not pull the disc at all, or do you have to still have some pull on the throw?

    • @angieb8941
      @angieb8941 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The body should pull the disc into the power pocket. I do stand still drills to feel the body pull the disc to my left pec. The rotation should continue and sling shot the disc from your left pec once you have rotated toward the target. I am not sure if at this point the arm muscle should actually be engaged to assist in ejection or not. I don’t think so. I think the arm acts more like a whip. Shoulder joint is the handle and the body is applying all the power. It is funny when someone makes fun of themselves by saying they have a noodle arm when a noddle arm is what you really want!
