    5 Tips For Getting Started As A Product Photographer
    Starting out as a product photographer can be really daunting! After being in the industry for 3.5 years I've learned A LOT about how to market myself, what clients are looking for, and most importantly, how to attract your ideal client to your business. Along the way we also deal with mindset blocks to do with money, comparison, not feeling like we're worthy or good enough...and we have to do the work to overcome these barriers!

    Hi Amanda ,
    I’m currently using my iPhone to take photos and I’m thinking of upgrading to a camera. What model would you recommend for a beginner? Thank you :)

    Thanks for the wonderful tips; I'm specializing in tabletop product/still-life photography. I find and take as many courses as I can and I practice a lot and I've starting working on my website! So thank you again!

    If you look around your house you can find all kinds of products that you can use to make a decent beginner portfolio with, and don't be afraid to call on friends and family to have them model the product. You can do this to level up your skills along with looking at actual product photography in ads and try and mimic the ads with what you have available to you at home. The more you shoot and challenge yourself, the better you will become in a short amount of time.
    But what you should NEVER do as a photographer in general, let alone as a product photographer looking to work with companies to shoot their product photography, is offering to do even one gig for free.
    As the Joker stated in the movie The Dark Knight Rises, "If you're good at something, never do it for free".

      All great advice on finding products to work with! I think when you're starting though and building your portfolio, collaborating with brands at no charge can be highly strategic as they may turn into paying clients. That's exactly how I got my first paying clients. As it also teaches you how to work with clients as well.

    Thanks for this great tips 😊 btw what camera do you suggest for beginners product photography?

    • @amandacampeanu
      @amandacampeanu  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally depends on your budget 😊 I’m a canon lover and have heard the rebel series is a great starter camera. It’s also about what lens you buy. Make sure to buy your camera body and lens separately as opposed to buying the kit lens 😊

    I am a portrait photographer wanting to get into product. Do you recommend I create a new website and all new social media pages for product? Thank you!

    • @amandacampeanu
      @amandacampeanu  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t think you need a new website if you’re wanting to do both 😊 you can easily showcase both your portrait and product photography services on your website and Instagram.
