I think the US is more dependent on China than China is more dependent on the US. Because China is the world's first industrial country and the only country with all kinds of industrial chains. The US is now a country dominated by finance and top technology. For example, you know that all Apple products are produced in China. China has advantages in processing technology for metal materials such as gallium, germanium, and antimony. In fact, China is a country with strong competitiveness in all fields. China's achievements are not based on plagiarism, but because the Chinese are highly competitive, many Americans and Europeans do not realize this.

When in reality Democrats don't start trade wars because trade wars don't help anyone, in fact, they cause countries to become less connected and in turn more likely to be hostile towards each other. Our dependency on Chinese goods and their dependency on our market is the reason why we have not gone to war with China for so long. International free trade equals a lower likelihood of large-scale peer-to-peer warfare. Isolationism like make America great again or America first, will only lead to more hostilities and higher prices for everyone.

China has banned exports of gallium, germanium, and antimony. All three of the materials are important for the electronics industry.
Antimony is also critical for military and used to make bullets, night goggles, explosives, flares, missiles, and nuclear weapons. China is the biggest producer of antimony and Russia is the second biggest. The usa has a tiny amount compared to them, with reserves estimated to only last for 2 years if they continue to consume antimony at the rate they do. They have not a single antimony mine to extract the antimony, though one is planned to be created by the year’s end.
The us ally with the largest antimony reserve is Australia, with a measly 9%. China (32%) and russia (23%) aren’t really fans of giving the usa antimony, and bolivia (21%) may or may not. Bolivia did throw out a us diplomat in 2008 for “treating them like a banana republic”, have opposed us foreign policy, considers their treatment of Venezualans as xenophobic, and are brics aligned, but they didn’t say yet that they are opposed to trading with the usa.
The usa is, obviously, much less efficient at manufacturing than China, with China able to output massive amounts due to their advancements in factory ai and factory technology as well as due to their fast transport of goods. China also has the largest military in the world.
The usa outsources weapon production to companies like lockheed martin and boeing, and those companies charge a large markup to the military for the weapons. They make a lot of profit and have high earnings because the government pays them a lot. Boeing is heavily dependent on chinese parts, and one time they got fake titanium from a chinese company, causing their jets to break down. In contrast, Chinese military is sourced from state owned businesses like norinco, meaning the government gets the weapons for free, only the cost of labor and materials, because the government owns the manufacturer. Of course, if the government gets it for free (as in no markup), then norinco doesn’t make as much profit as lockheed, but because they sell weapons to Pakistan, Venezuela, and others, they are still profitable.
Anyways, after years of building military bases everywhere, needlessly fueling wars, staging coups left and right, and other aggressive actions, America has finally poked a bear. Tread carefully.

On top of that, the NATO kept expanding eastward even though they promised not to and that eventually lead to war in Crimea and now Ukraine. For China, there were couple years of honey moon period when Nixon was president, but other than that, China was under constant embargo from US ever since CCP took power in 1949. To give a few examples, China was banned from participating Space Station program, kicked out from European Galileo GPS program ('suggested' by the US), US bombed Chinese Embassy in Yugoslavia in 1999, killing 3 journalists in the process. The relationship between countries are like two people in a relationship, it's hard to move forward when there's pattern of 'abuse' for decades. If you have to pay $7.25 an hour to have something made in the U.S. and maybe $3.00 somewhere else, the cost of higher labor has to be taken into consideration. People want it cheap. Why are we imposing more tariffs on China when China has not paid and has refused to pay the tariffs back during the George Bush, Obama, Trump , Biden, and upcoming Trump eras? I understand that maybe we need their merchandise for our economy but we also need their money to help us which one is more important their money or the economy? They are using other countries to avoid paying our tariffs. We know this yet we are still continuing to do business with them? While China continues to make money, build astronomical structures and grow economically and financially our country cannot do that. Their country has money to do these things but we don't because they refuse to pay their tariffs along with other countries not paying either. How can they build things so cheaply over there and use their employees and "made in China" slogan and things are cheap to purchase in their own country but we can't do the "Made in America" slogan and make things cheap for our own people.
