My great grandfather survived a gunshot wound in burma ww2 and recieved an award and was sent home. After he recovered fully, he worked many jobs in india and nepal and had decent pension but he did not receive any compensation for his injuries. I'm from a British Gurkha family and in UK right now. He passed away when I was really young like some 15 years ago. RIP budo baaje.

My father late Harkajit Rai 7 G.R was enlisted in 1939 and sent to Burma frontier to fight with Japanese soldier. after the war he has been sent to home Nepal without any pension or gratuities. His widow Mrs Shibo maya Rai is still alive at the age of 84 and staying with her second son Narayan Prasad Rai at Dharan 13. In the medal 1939 _1947 Burma Frontier is mentioned. Shiba Maya Rai is very upset because she didn't get anything from the British Government's other than the medal in appreciation of her husband service with the British Government.
